NYC: Occupy Protesters Smash Starbucks, Shout “All Pigs Must Die”…

This was from the same protest where our favorite “global lawyer” was arrested for assaulting a police officer with a metal pipe.

Via NYT’s East Village Blog:

Last night’s riotous atmosphere resulted in a sergeant and lieutenant suffering minor injuries while scuffling with anarchist protesters at the Astor Place Starbucks, the police said.

According to police, around 25 people tried smashing the windows of the cafe with eight-foot long steel pipes at around 8:45 p.m. after attending the Anarchist book fair earlier in the day. “Patrons fearing that they would be hit by flying glass hid under tables,” the police said in a statement. “Several” officers were assaulted with pipes and bottles, the police added.

According to police, part of the rowdy group — some of them masked — marched near Washington Square Park, chanting “cops are murderers” and “all pigs must die.” The crowd eventually grew to around 150, with some tipping garbage cans and spray painting anarchist symbols on buildings, the police said.

To Big Pete: Agreed. I’m don’t understand why OWS’ers target Starbucks either. I live in DC, and ALL Starbucks branches (free standing and within bookstores) are very accommodating to the homeless and drifters. Free coffee and comfortable spaces (heated in winter; air-conditioned in summer) for them to relax. In fact, some are there all day long occupying seats intended for paying customers.

It is difficult to understand what created these misfits in society, or is it? Are they some part of the “me” generation in which the country is suppose to take care of them? Yesterday I attended the ciclavia- a city wide bicycle ride through Los Angeles. While my wife and I were stopped at an intersection one of those occupy pukes came charging up to us with flyers for their “general strike” day. He picked the wrong bike riders. I got in the kids face, cursed him a blue streak, flipped the bird so close in his face that I almost picked a booger, and shouted “Occupy sucks!” The kid took off, and the cop directing traffic gave me a big stage whisper- Thank You.

Time for law enforcement to use what the Israelis are using- “Skunk Water”… they spray it at protesters and the horrid smell clings to skin and clothing for weeks. Attempts to wash it off only magnify the stink. Then again, the occupy trash probably stinks pretty bad to start with.

I feel sorry for anyone working in NYC, and especially with summer coming on. I have to wonder how many tourist dollars the city will lose, along with other major cities inviting OWS violence. I, for one, would not vacay in NYC if I had a job and enough money.
