The armed Palestinian groups in Gaza have recently stepped up their military training amid what they refer to as the threat of a wide-scale Israeli operation in the Strip.

In this framework dozens of children have undergone training in the past few days by gunmen from the Salah al-Din Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees. The training included firing pistols and rifles.

"I am learning how to fight the Jews and kill Jewish children," 11-year-old Muhammad told Ynet, "the parents of the Jewish children are the soldiers and officers who kill us here. I want these parents to get a taste of what it's like to have your children killed, just as the Palestinians experience every day.

"I would rather die fighting the occupation than die at home from a missile, which is what happened to hundreds of Palestinian children," he said.

"We're getting ready for the next round," he added, saying "the Zionist enemy will have neither peace nor security while it occupies our land."

Abu Hamzeh said his group had "hundreds of rockets" ready to launch at southern Israel.

Women preachers are urging followers at one of Britain’s most influential mosques to kill homosexuals and view all non-Muslims as “vile”, according to a television documentary.

The London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre, known as the Regent’s Park Mosque, is one of the most respected centres for moderate Islam in western Europe.

However, an undercover investigation by the Channel 4 Dispatches programme has found extremist preachers have held study circles there and are teaching followers a hardline version of the faith followed in Saudi Arabia, known as Wahhabism.

The documentary, to be broadcast tomorrow, is a follow-up to Undercover Mosque, which investigated a number of mosques and was made by the same team more than a year ago. That resulted in an investigation by West Midlands Police, who accused the makers of distorting sermons and inflaming tensions. Officers took no action against extremist preachers whose words were broadcast. Ofcom rejected the complaint and the force had to apologise to Channel 4. It agreed at the High Court to pay £100,000 for libel.

In the new documentary, a female reporter infiltrated women’s study circles. In one, a preacher using the name Umm Amira told followers: “We are not going to be like animals . . . or to be like the homosexuals, God save us from that, you understand? We have to take the judgment, the judgment is to kill them.”

Umm Amira is recorded as saying converts from Islam should also be killed. “He is Muslim and he gets out of Islam, he doesn’t want any more. What are we going to do? We kill him, kill, kill.”

In another study circle, Umm Amira describes Christians as “vile”. Another preacher, Umm Saleem, tells her congregation not to take British citizenship or become friends with nonMuslims.

LONDON — Al Qaida-aligned suicide strikes in Morocco were believed to have been directed from several southern European countries.

In August 2008, a senior facilitator of the Al Qaida strikes was arrested in Italy. The facilitator was identified as Abdul Majid Zergout, a 43-year-old imam in a mosque in the northern Italian city of Varese.

The sources said Zergout, who fled Morocco in the late 1990s, was believed to be working for the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, deemed responsible for multiple suicide bombings in Casablanca in 2003. They said Zergout would be extradited by Italy to Morocco, where he was declared a fugitive.

Law enforcement sources said Varese has become a hotbed of Al Qaida-inspired activity. They said this included financing, training and recruiting of North Africans for Islamic insurgency operations.

European law enforcement sources said investigations in such countries as Belgium, Italy and Spain have pointed to guidance and financing for Al Qaida operations in Morocco over the last year. The sources said the failed suicide operations in Morocco in 2007 marked an effort to revive the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group.

SIOE bans political parties from its events, but welcomes members of parties attending in “political incognito“.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: Pakistan announced on Saturday a suspension of military operations against Islamist militants for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, but a senior official said security forces would respond if attacked.

Violence has intensified in Pakistan in recent weeks with the military battling militants in three different parts of the northwest – Kurram, Bajaur, and Swat. The militants have responded with bomb attacks on the security forces.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a missile hit a house in Wana, the main town in South Waziristan, killing five people, said a resident who saw the bodies taken out of the rubble.

The house was owned by a man known to have militant links, residents said. A security official said two of the dead were foreigners.It was not immediately clear who fired the missile but US-operated pilotless drones have attacked in Pakistani border regions several times this year, killing dozens of militants.

Suspected Islamist militants raided a bootleg bar in Algeria and beheaded one of its patrons because he was a prison guard, Algerian media reported Saturday.

Also, a security official confirmed the separate killing of five soldiers and two police officers in a gunbattle.

Extremists disguised as police officers carried out the raid on the bar in the town of Boghni, 120 kilometers (75 miles) east of Algiers on Thursday, the El Watan newspaper reported.

The paper, which tends to be reliable on terrorism-related stories, said the suspected Islamists robbed bar patrons and beheaded one of them after finding out he worked as a prison guard. The group also kidnapped an Algerian-born emigrant in an apparent bid to win a ransom, a frequent practice in the area.

Separately, five soldiers and two police officers were killed in a gunbattle with al-Qaida linked extremistsin the hilly Batna region, 450 kilometers (280 miles) southeast of Algiers, local media reported.

TEHRAN, Aug 30–A senior Iranian military commander has warned that any US or Israeli attack on the Islamic republic would start a world war III, the state news agency IRNA reported on Saturday.

"Any aggression against Iran will start a world war III,"Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces for Cultural Affairs, Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri, said in a statement carried by the agency.

He reiterated that the so-called leading countries are falling and the world will soon witness great developments. He said that Islam and the Islamic Republic call for international peace and co-existence.

"Teachings of Islam and the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution uphold peace and tranquility throughout the globe and are totally against war and escalation of tension being stirred by the US and Zionism, the Brigadier General said.

Jazayeri underlined the need for promotion of peace and stability in the world. "It is evident that if such a challenge occurs, the fake and artificial regimes will be eliminated before anything," he said, without naming any countries.

Czech TV Nova was fined 100,000 korunas by the Council for Radio and Television for broadcasting xenophobic and Islamophobic content. 

The station broadcast a report about Syrian Mohamed Fahed, who had killed his Czech common-law wife in Zelesice, near Brno (see here and herefor more on the incident).  Fahed had said that where he came from, the Kurdish areas of Syria, a man was allowed to kill his wife. The reporter said that in Syria there's Sharia law, which allows a husband to kill an unfaithful wife. 

The Brno Muslim community complained to the Council, which decided that the report was xenophobic and Islamophobic, misleading regarding Islamic law. According to the council Syria is not run by Sharia law, and in any case Sharia law does not allow a husband to take justice into his own hands.

Barzinji remains at the center of an active federal investigation into terrorist financing that involves recently convicted terrorist supporter Sami al-Arian. A grand jury is still hearing the widening case in Northern Virginia.

ISLAMABAD: The killing of women for honour is a demand of the tribal traditions, Balochistan Senator Israrullah Zehri informed the Senate on Friday.

Zehri was responding to Senator Yasmeen Shah’s statement in which she had drawn the House’s attention towards reports that five women had been buried alive in Balochistan in the name of honour. She called it a sheer violation of human rights.

Zehri asked the members not to politicise the issue, as it was a matter of safeguarding the tribal traditions.

Leader of the Opposition in Senate Kamil Ali Agha condemned the killing of women in the name of honour and demanded the issue should be referred to the Human Rights Standing Committee of the House.

Hezbollah is armed with advanced Iranian-supplied missiles capable of reaching targets deep inside Israel, according to a report in Friday's edition of the London-based pan-Arab daily Al-Quds al-Arabi.

The report quotes senior Arab sources who claim that the Lebanon-based militia plans to use the missiles in the event Israel decides to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, or if the United States launches an offensive that has the potential to ignite a regional war.

The sources added that the new missiles have a range that Israel "cannot even fathom,"and that the new arms are the "surprise" that Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah alluded to in his recent statements to the public. The report says the missiles are armed with a precision-guided mechanism that increases their accuracy.

A spate of media reports in recent months have indicated that Hezbollah has stockpiled new arms, including anti-aircraft systems, that it has deployed in the mountainous regions of Lebanon. Israel has repeatedly warned that positioning these missile batteries in Lebanon would be viewed as "a step that tilts the balance."

Officials in Jerusalem say this would justify a preemptive strike on these weapons systems.

Iranian defense experts are also reportedly in Lebanon in an effort to assist Hezbollah in developing anti-aircraft capabilities.

Malaysia's opposition-ruled northern state of Kedah has imposed a ban on rock, reggae, pop and Indonesian 'dangdut' music concerts, saying such shows would negatively influence youth, a news report said on Friday.

"We do not condone any (gyrating movements) on stage," state councillor Ismail Salleh was quoted as telling the Star daily.

"We are currently formulating a comprehensive guideline for concerts. "Until then, concerts of such nature are banned," he said.

In March 8 general elections, Malaysia's three-party opposition alliance took control of Kedah along with four other states.

The hardline Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS), which won the most number of state seats, has begun to enforce strict guidelines on things like civil servants' dress codes to outdoor entertainment and concerts.

Ismail said concerts with religious Islamic recitals and patriotic songs would still be allowed, adding that the state government was not opposed to entertainment.

The Mumbai police on Wednesday arrested a Muslim couple for burning a copy of ‘Koran’ outside their house in the Govandi.

The locals of the area have alleged that Mastan Shah and his wife Noor Bano Shah have hurt their religious sentiments.

However, the couple said that since the book was very old and tattered they decided to burn it instead of throwing it. The result: the furious locals went on rampage and completely vandalized the couple’s house.

Initially the husband was able to escape during the incident but later the police came into action and arrested both the husband and wife.

The couple said the police that they did not have any intentions of hurting anyone’s religious sentiment.

The police has booked the couple under Sections 295 (intent to insult the religion of any class) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Palestinian Authority Economy Minister Kamal al-Hossuneh said a large amount of poisoned food stuff have been discovered and confiscated in the West Bank.

The suppliers and distributors of the food stuff have been detained and will stand trail at the Supreme Court,Hossuneh said.

Palestinian Police Spokesman Brigadier Adnan al-Zamiri also said: “Dealers in the illegal Israeli settlements have imported the stuff to the Palestinian Territories for gaining money at the cost of Palestinian people’s lives.”

After much controversy, Cologne City Council finally voted in favor of building Germany's largest mosque in the city. The opposition of a local far-right group wasn't enough to stop plans that will change the city's historic skyline forever.

Cologne's skyline is not just any skyline. Silhouetted against the sky is the cathedral, the most famous gothic church in Germany. After a decision by Cologne's City Council, it will be joined by the country's largest mosque.

The new mosque will now be built on a site in Ehrenfeld, an industrial section of Cologne where there is currently a working mosque operating out of an old factory."They can start tearing down the old factory building tomorrow," Josef Wirges, the local council member for Ehrenfeld and member of the Social Democrats (SPD) told SPIEGEL ONLINE.

The mosque, designed by German architects Paul and Gottfied Böhm, will be a domed building with glass walls and two minarets.The minarets will be 180 feet tall, a third the height of the towers of the Cologne Cathedral and the mosque will be flanked by tall office buildings. DITIB has agreed not to broadcast the call to prayer over loudspeakers.
