Rush: Health Care Bill Is ‘The Easiest, Fastest Way For Them To Regulate Every Aspect Of Human Behavior’

Under Obama/Pelosi/Reid Care there will be no new medicines, no new cures, no new treatments. There will be less care and more control. Your parents won’t be treated and the quality of life will decline rapidly. You know how you hate those red light cameras? Imagine one in your refrigerator, your grocery cart, your car, your kitchen, your bedroom, your toilet. Can you live like that? Do you want these controls and limits forced upon your children?

(HotAir Pundit)Transcript: “This is not about insuring the uninsured, this is not about health care, this is about stealing one sixth of the private sector and putting it under the control of the Federal government, and when they get this health care bill, it they do, that’s the easiest fastest way for them to be able to regulate every aspect of human behavior.

Because it will all have some related costs to health care, what you drive, what you eat, where you live, what you do, there will be penalties for violating regulations, it’s gonna be the biggest snatch of freedom and liberty that has yet occurred in this country”

A Pathetic Op-Ed By Frank Rich: Smearing Conservatives (Especially Beck, Palin, Rush) While Trying (But Failing) To Say GOP A Hate-Filled, Racist, Suicidal Party…Says Kay Bailey Hutchison Is ‘Conservative’…Hoffman Winning Helps Dems In 2010

This NY-23 race scares the piss out of the Left because they know the truth is being told by Palin, Beck, Bachmann. They are starting to figure out that the Alinsky rules aren’t working anymore – people are listening, people are thinking. They have to stop this and they think op-eds like this (GOP taken over by hate mongers) will do the trick. It won’t. The average American does not care about rules/taxes that are forced upon them, but they won’t stand by when those same rules/taxes/debt are forced upon their children. Nobody fucks with our children. NOBODY.

NYT (Op-Ed by Frank Rich) - The battle for upstate New York confirms just how swiftly the right has
devolved into a wacky, paranoid cult that is as eager to eat its own as
it is to destroy Obama. The movement’s undisputed leaders, Palin and
Beck, neither of whom have what Palin
once called
the “actual responsibilities” of public office, would gladly see the
Republican Party die on the cross of right-wing ideological purity.

Over the short term, at least, their wish could come true.
…
The right’s embrace of Hoffman is a double-barreled suicide for the
G.O.P. On Saturday, the battered Scozzafava suspended her campaign,
further scrambling the race. It’s still conceivable that the Democratic
candidate could capture a seat the Republicans should own. But it’s
even better for Democrats if Hoffman wins. Punch-drunk with this
triumph, the right will redouble its support of primary challengers to
2010 G.O.P. candidates they regard as impure. That’s bad news for even
a Republican as conservative as Kay Bailey Hutchison
, whose primary
opponent in the Texas governor’s race, the incumbent Rick Perry,
floated the possibility of secession at a teabagger rally in April and hastily endorsed Hoffman on Thursday.

The
more rightists who win G.O.P. primaries, the greater the Democrats’
prospects next year. But the electoral math is less interesting than
the pathology of this movement. Its antecedent can be found in the
early 1960s, when radical-right hysteria carried some of the same
traits we’re seeing now: seething rage, fear of minorities, maniacal
contempt for government, and a Freudian tendency to mimic the excesses
of political foes. Writing in 1964 of that era’s equivalent to today’s
tea party cells, the historian Richard Hofstadter observed
that the John Birch Society’s “ruthless prosecution” of its own
ideological war often mimicked the tactics of its Communist enemies.

The same could be said of Beck, Palin and their acolytes. Though they
constantly liken the president to various totalitarian dictators, it is
they who are re-enacting Stalinism in full purge mode. They drove out
Arlen Specter, and now want to “melt Snowe” (as the blog Red State put it). The same Republicans who once deplored Democrats for refusing
to let an anti-abortion dissident, Gov. Robert Casey of Pennsylvania,
speak at the 1992 Clinton convention now routinely banish any
dissenters in their own camp.

These conservatives’ whiny cries of victimization also parrot a tic
they once condemned in liberals. After Rush Limbaugh was booted from an
ownership group bidding on the St. Louis Rams, he moaned
about being done in by the “race card.” What actually did him in, of
course, was the free-market American capitalism he claims to champion.
Limbaugh didn’t understand that in an increasingly diverse nation,
profit-seeking N.F.L. franchises actually want to court black ticket
buyers, not drive them away.
…

Only in the alternative universe of the far right is Obama a pariah
and Palin the great white hope. It’s become a Beltway truism that the
White House’s (mild) spat with Fox News is counterproductive because it
drives up the network’s numbers. But if curious moderate and
independent voters are now tempted to surf there and encounter Beck’s
histrionics for the first time, the president’s numbers will benefit as
well. To the uninitiated, the tea party crowd comes across like the
barflies in “Star Wars.”

There is only one political opponent
whom Obama really has to worry about at this moment: Hamid Karzai. It’s
Afghanistan and joblessness, not the Stalinists of the right, that have
the power to bring this president down.

Palestinians Tell Obama And His “Peace” Plan To Go Pound Sand….

Hillarybibi

The Palestinians  were offered 99% of what they’re wanted by Olmert and they turned it down, Bibi won’t even come close to that……

JERUSALEM — Dealing a blow to the Obama administration’s efforts to restart Middle East peace talks, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton failed Saturday to persuade the Palestinian leader to accept an Israeli proposal that would slow but not stop the construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, insisted that Israel must halt all construction of housing units before broader negotiations could begin. He rebuffed an Israeli proposal — developed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and relayed by Mrs. Clinton — to complete about 3,000 units and temporarily freeze other construction, the chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, said after the meeting.

“This is a nonstarter,” Mr. Erekat said. “Mr. Netanyahu has a choice, settlements or peace, and he has chosen settlements.”

Vomit Alert: Six More al-Qaeda Trained Gitmo Detainees Sent to Tropical Paradise….

Even more nauseating, the “progressive” American lawyers representing these thugs say they “arrived in freedom”….

KOROR, Palau — Six Chinese Muslims who had been detained at Guantanamo Bay arrived Sunday in the tiny Pacific nation of Palau for resettlement, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press.

The men arrived in Palau early Sunday, the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter, told The Associated Press.

U.S.-based lawyers for three of the released men confirmed the transfer of the six former detainees, saying they “arrived to freedom” in Palau.

“These men want nothing more than to live peaceful, productive lives in a free, democratic nation safe from oppression by the Chinese,” said Eric Tirschwell of Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel law firm. “Thanks to Palau, which has graciously offered them a temporary home, they now have that chance.”

Number of Pakistani Christians Killed in the Name of Allah Since 2001: 50….

Jesusslaveallah1

But don’t worry, it’s a “religion” of peace…

Islamabad (AsiaNews) – Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are the country’s worst instruments for religious repression. According to data collected by the Catholic Church’s National Commission on Justice and Peace (NCJP), at least 964 people have been indicted for desecrating the Qur‘an or defiling the name of the prophet Muhammad between 1986 and this year, including 479 Muslims, 119 Christians, 340 Ahmadis, 14 Hindus and 10 from other religions. Since its inception, the law has been used a pretext for attacks, personal vendettas and extra-judicial murders: 33 in all by individuals or enraged mobs.

Since 2001, at least 50 Christians have been killed after being accused of blasphemy, the NCJP said. The list of victims of Muslim extremists also includes members of other religious minorities as well as Muslims. The Ahmadi community—a Muslim group that does not view Muhammad as the final prophet and is thus deemed heretical by Sunnis and Shias—has lamented the loss of at least 12 of its members this year. Since 1984, 107 Ahmadis have been murdered and 719 arrested.

UK: Supermarket Clerk Refuses to Serve Woman Because of Her Support For Injured British Troops…Shockingly, Employee Was Muslim….

The fruits of British-style multiculturalism….

MUM-of-three Beth Hoyle claims an Asda till worker refused to serve her because she was wearing a wristband backing injured troops.

Beth says the checkout lad told her the band for Help for Heroes – aided by The Sun – meant she supported the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And when she complained to a supervisor, he BACKED the Asian youth, saying he was entitled to his view.

Beth, 40, who has two brothers in the services, said the checkout worker told her he didn’t want to serve her because of “what she was wearing.”

Shocked Beth, of Whitworth, Greater Manchester, said that at first she thought the youth at Asda’s Rochdale store meant a cross round her neck.

“He pointed to my Help for Heroes wristband and accused me of supporting the war. I told him it was nothing to do with the war, but about supporting our injured troops.

“I immediately complained to a supervisor, but he said it was his right not to serve me. I was disgusted.”

NY-23: Welcome to the Party, Newt Endorses Hoffman….

Little late, Newt. Still, we need Hoffman to win so this can only help in such a tight race….

WASHINGTON (CNN)–Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week’s special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

Gingrich made the announcement via Twitter shortly after the Republican Party nominee Scozzafava announced she was releasing supporters from their commitment to back her.

“Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman,” Gingrich wrote on Twitter. (Tweet shown as it appeared)

Polling showed that Scozzafava was running third in this special election for what had been a traditionally safe Republican seat.

Obama Sets H1N1 Vaccination Priorities: Young Children, Pregnant Women, The Elderly…Gitmo Detainees….

Gitmopraying

They’re not US citizens, they’re not even human. If anything we should be injecting them with the virus then leaving them to die in a quarantined box…..

(The Hill)- The Pentagon’s announcement Friday that it would provide H1N1 vaccinations to Guantanamo Bay detainees who ask for it is a “terrible decision,” one House Republican stressed Friday.

The White House should immediately cancel the program to ensure Americans are able to receive those vaccinations first, added Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.).

“I don’t know if detainees at Gitmo should never be given the H1N1 vaccine,” Pence told CNN during an interview. “But, certainly, at a time of such acute shortages, again, involving American citizens… I think the administration should immediately suspend the plan to deploy H1N1 vaccines to terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay, until such a time that sufficient vaccinations are made  available to the American public.”

The NYT Runs A Misleading Title Again: ‘Hospitalized Children Without Insurance More Likely To Die, A Study Finds’ . . .

I was going to just point out the specific passages in this article that prove their title is misleading, but over half the article proves that this study’s findings don’t have much to do with lack of insurance, so I’m simply highlighting the sections.

I wonder if this study also looked at: citizenship; if a patient’s local ER closed because they couldn’t afford to keep their doors open; if the parent’s were involved in the child’s care; if the child’s family could afford/ were eligible for insurance/CHIP; or exactly why the child died (they give generalities in article but not specifics).

NYT – Uninsured children who wind up in the hospital are much more likely
to die than children covered by either private or government insurance
plans, according to one of the first studies to assess the impact of
insurance coverage on hospitalized children.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center analyzed data from
more than 23 million children’s hospitalizations in 37 states from 1988
to 2005. Compared with insured children, uninsured children faced a 60
percent increased risk of dying, the researchers found.

The authors estimated that at least 1,000 hospitalized children died
each year simply because they lacked insurance, accounting for 16,787
of some 38,649 children’s deaths nationwide during the period analyzed.

“If you take two kids from the same demographic background — the
same race, same gender, same neighborhood income level and same number
of co-morbidities or other illnesses — the kid without insurance is 60
percent more likely to die in the hospital than the kid in the bed
right next to him or her who is insured,”
said David C. Chang,
co-director of the pediatric surgery outcomes group at the children’s
center and an author of the study, which appeared today in The Journal
of Public Health.

Although the research was not set up to identify why uninsured
children were more likely to die, it found that they were more likely
to gain access to care through the emergency room, suggesting they
might have more advanced disease by the time they were hospitalized.

In addition, uninsured children were in the hospital, on average,
for less than a day when they died, compared with a full day for
insured children. Children without insurance incurred lower hospital
charges — $8,058 on average, compared with $20,951 for insured
children.

In children who survived hospitalization, the length of stay and charges did not vary with insurance status.

The paper’s lead author, Dr. Fizan Abdullah, assistant professor of
surgery at Johns Hopkins, dismissed the possibility that providers gave
less care or denied procedures to the uninsured. “The children who were
uninsured literally died before the hospital could provide them more
care,” Dr. Abdullah said.

Furthermore, Dr. Abdullah said, indications are that the uninsured children “are further along in their course of illness.”

The results are all the more striking because children’s deaths are
so rare that they could be examined only by a very large study,
said
Dr. Peter J. Pronovost, a professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins and an
author of the new study.

“The striking thing is that children don’t often die,” Dr. Pronovost
said. “This study provides further evidence that the need to insure
everyone is a moral issue, not just an economic one.”

An estimated seven million children are uninsured in the United
States
, despite recent efforts to extend coverage under the federal
Children’s Health Insurance Program.
…

Following a recent expansion, 14 million children will be covered by
the CHIP program by 2013, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Advocates for children are concerned that efforts to overhaul the
health care system may actually reverse the progress made toward
covering more children if CHIP is phased out and many families remain
unable to afford health insurance.

“You can’t just dump 14 million vulnerable children into a new
system without evidence that the benefits and the affordability
provisions are better than they are now,”
Dr. Buist said. “That’s not
health reform.”

CHIP right now covers over 5 million children, since it has been expanded to cover 14 million children, that would mean 9 million more children will be covered by 2013. So wouldn’t that insure the entire ‘7 million uninsured children’ cited in this article? Also, Dr. Buist doesn’t want to dump these children into an untested new system, but this new system won’t just be dumping the children into it, it will be dumping 300 million people into it.

A Novel Idea. Register non-gun owners

What an interesting idea!

Resistnet Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as Vermont ’s own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere.

Maslack recently proposed a bill to register “non-gun-owners” and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun.

Maslack read the “militia” phrase of the Second Amendment as not only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a clear mandate to do so.

He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a “monopoly of force” by the government as well as criminals

Feel Good Story Of The Day (Well, If You Think EnviroNutJobs Are Ignorant Mouth Breathers With No Common Sense) . . .

Seeing that it’s cold, rainy, and the Buckeyes are playing New Mexico State, I needed to find a ‘libtards are idiots’ story to cheer me up . . .

NYT – PARIS – Just as Le Corbusier’s white cruciform towers once excited visions of the industrial-age city of the future, so Vélib’, Paris’s bicycle rental system, inspired a new urban ethos for the era of climate change.

Residents here can rent a sturdy bicycle from hundreds of public stations and pedal to their destinations, an inexpensive, healthy and low-carbon alternative to hopping in a car or bus.

But this latest French utopia has met a prosaic reality: Many of the specially designed bikes, which cost $3,500 each, are showing up on black markets in Eastern Europe and northern Africa. Many others are being spirited away for urban joy rides, then ditched by roadsides, their wheels bent and tires stripped.

With 80 percent of the initial 20,600 bicycles stolen or damaged, the program’s organizers have had to hire several hundred people just to fix them. And along with the dent in the city-subsidized budget has been a blow to the Parisian psyche.

“The symbol of a fixed-up, eco-friendly city has become a new source for criminality,” Le Monde mourned in an editorial over the summer. “The Vélib’ was aimed at civilizing city travel. It has increased incivilities.”
…
But the extra-solid construction and electronic docks mean the bikes, made in Hungary, are expensive, and not everyone shares the spirit of joint public property promoted by Paris’s Socialist mayor, Bertrand Delanoë.

“We miscalculated the damage and the theft,” said Albert Asséraf, director of strategy, research and marketing at JCDecaux, the outdoor-advertising company that is a major financer and organizer of the project. “But we had no reference point in the world for this kind of initiative.”

At least 8,000 bikes have been stolen and 8,000 damaged so badly that they had to be replaced – nearly 80 percent of the initial stock, Mr. Asséraf said.

JCDecaux must repair some 1,500 bicycles a day. The company maintains 10 repair shops and a workshop on a boat that moves up and down the Seine.

Troubling Signals On Free Speech

National Journal It was nice to hear Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton say on October 26, “I strongly disagree” with Islamic countries seeking to censor free speech worldwide by making defamation of religion a crime under international law.

But watch what the Obama administration does, not just what it says. I’m not talking about its attacks on Fox News. I’m talking about a little-publicized October 2 resolution in which Clinton’s own State Department joined Islamic nations in adopting language all-too-friendly to censoring speech that some religions and races find offensive.

The ambiguously worded United Nations Human Rights Council resolution could plausibly be read as encouraging or even obliging the U.S. to make it a crime to engage in hate speech, or, perhaps, in mere “negative racial and religious stereotyping.” This despite decades of First Amendment case law protecting such speech.

Dow Tanks: Down 249 Points (2.5%)…S&P500 Had First Monthly Lost Since February…Consumer Spending Down .5% (Largest Drop In 9 Months)…NYT Lost 9.33% Falls To $7.97

First the ‘Mr. Obama, we’re going to need a bail out’ stock/chart of the day:(NYT stock)
NYTchart

Next, the ‘ObamaNomics’ news of the day:

NYT – No sooner did trading start on Friday morning than a rush of erroneous orders overwhelmed the computers at the New York Stock Exchange.
By the time the day was over, the Dow Jones industrial average had
plunged nearly 250 points, or 2.5 percent, in its sharpest sell-off
since July.

The Standard and Poor’s 500-stock index fell even
more — 2.8 percent — to close out October with its first monthly loss
since February. The Nasdaq composite index also tumbled.

The
sudden decline, coming only days after the Dow was flying above 10,000,
left many traders asking the same question: After a stunning
seven-month rally, is the stock market finally running out of steam?

Many economic and financial worries, from the troubles of hard-pressed consumers to the travails of Citigroup,
dragged financial shares lower through the day. The losses more than
wiped out the market’s gains from the day before, when a government
report seemed to suggest that the nation’s longest recession since World War II might be ending.

But
even though the worst may be over for the economy, many investors now
fear that any recovery will be slow and that the recent optimism in the
markets may turn out to have been misplaced. Even after the decline on
Friday, the broad market was still up nearly 15 percent this year.

“The market needs and demands to see evidence that things are getting
better, not just that they may be getting better,” said Anthony Chan,
chief economist for JPMorgan’s
private wealth management. “We need to beat expectations before the
markets raise eyebrows and say it’s safe to get back into the water.”

The
Dow industrials fell 249.85 points, to 9,712.73. The S.& P. 500 was
off 29.92 points, or 2.8 percent, to 1,036.18. The Nasdaq declined
52.44 points, or 2.5 percent, to 2,045.11.

The day began with
unsettling news from the Commerce Department. A report on consumer
spending showed the largest drop in nine months
, a dreary data point
that met Wall Street expectations but reinforced the notion that the
recovery of the United States economy would be slow and halting. The
decline was tied to the end of the government’s cash-for-clunkers
program, which gave car buyers thousands of dollars in vouchers for the
purchase of new vehicles. Overall spending fell 0.5 percent in
September, and personal income levels remained flat because of higher
unemployment rates and decreases in wages. (But remember, 4 pharagraphs ago, they said the recession seemed to be over. -ed)

GE (Obama’s lap dog), fell to $14.26 (4.10%) today. I feel really sorry for all of GE stock holders and I hope that the GE Board will finally take a good hard look at Immelt and fire his ass. Under his watch GE has tanked and it seems that no one is really holding him accountable.

Colonel foresaw his own death: His memo to MoD warned helicopter shortage would cost lives… weeks later he was dead

Daily Mail The most senior soldier to be killed in Afghanistan foreshadowed his own death in a damning memo about the shortage of helicopters.

Lieutenant Colonel Rupert Thorneloe told his superiors that British troops would die because they were being forced to make trips by road.

Less than a month later, he was blown up by a roadside bomb.

In his final despatches to commanders in London, classified ‘Nato Secret’, he had dismissed helicopter operations in Afghanistan as ‘not fit for purpose’.

The leaked memo dramatically undermines Gordon Brown’s claims that helicopter shortages have not caused the deaths of troops fighting the Taliban.

Joe Biden Is So Stupid: Take Two . . .

You can read today’s first example of Biden’s stupidity HERE.

Biden is so stupid:

1. His hair plugs are embarrassed.
2. He actually makes Obama look smart.
3. He actually said that the stimulus job numbers aren’t 100% accurate.
4. He actually said ‘
I really don’t care what Dick Cheney thinks.’

The Hill – The political chattering class might frequently solicit former Vice President Dick Cheney’s thoughts on Afghanistan, but current VP Joe Biden stressed Friday that he was not among that group.

When asked to respond to Cheney’s criticism earlier this week that President Barack Obama was dithering and stalling his decision about troop levels in Afghanistan, Biden merely told CNN: “I like Dick Cheney personally, but I really don’t care what Dick Cheney thinks.”

“Look at the policy they left us in Afghanistan,” the vice president added. “I think the president is doing exactly what any president should do. And by the way, the military thinks that too.”

No one ever picks a fight with Cheney and wins…I for one, am hoping Cheney kicks. his. ass.

PS – You guys have any other Biden is so stupid(s) like 1 and 2?

Exit thought: As I see it there are three political parties in America: 1) Ignorant, hypocritical Dems; 2.old, white, compromising GOP; 3. ass kicking, word wielding, take-no-prisoners, Smart/Sexy/Proud of America Palin/Bachmann party.

Newly disclosed emails link White House directly to NEA politicalization scandal

Kuttner, Kuttner, say it ain’t so!

Washington Examiner Former actor and present White House associate director of public engagement Kalpen Modi was directly involved in planning the controversial conference call hosted by a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) flack to encourage tax-supported artists to create propaganda for President Obama, according to emails obtained by Judicial Watch via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The emails reveal that Modi worked with now-former NEA national communications director Yosif Sargant in planning the August 10 conference call that was first revealed by Andrew Breitbart’s Big Hollywood.com web site. Participants in the conference call were encouraged to use their talents to generate public support for the Obama agenda in Congress.

“Calculator Abuse”

ABC Posting its results late this afternoon at Recovery.gov, the White House claimed 640,329 jobs have been created or saved because of the $159 billion in stimulus funds allocated as of Sept. 30.

Officials acknowledged the numbers were not exact, saying that states and localities that reported the numbers have made mistakes.

In recent days, the Recovery Act board has been reviewing all the numbers, with many inaccurate ones having been posted. California’s San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission received $5 million in stimulus funds to hire workers to build addition train track for the Union Pacific Railroad in an economically tarnished spot of the Golden State.

Brian Schmidt, director of planning and programming for the commission said that his staff originally reported to the Obama administration that the stimulus money saved 250 jobs. Then, realizing they had mistakenly double credited, they later changed that to 125 jobs. Tuesday, they updated it again to 74 jobs.

The upshot here is that even the Feds claim it took “$92,000 per/person” to create these supposed jobs – assuming it was 1,000,000 jobs created (and even that is in dispute) – and if the total created is lower, the cost per/job created goes UP. And these are the nitwits who say they’re going to save money with their healthcare boondoggle?
