There has been two cases in my local news (Central Ohio) about hundreds of personal documents being found in different cars. This ‘paper-trail’ seems to be happening a lot lately doesn’t it? Any similar stories in your area?
File this story under “Your Personal Information Will Remain Confidential.”Hundreds of shredded documents bearing personal data were found blowing in the wind along a road in Des Plaines, Ill., the Chicago Tribune reports after being tipped off by a reader.
The
records included 2009 W-2 forms, job applications, investment
statements, many bearing Social Security numbers and other sensitive
information, the paper writes. Who shredded the documents and how they
wound up along the road remains a mystery for now.One victim is Elida Cruz, a former bank officer who told the Tribune she used to assure her customers that their personal information was safe.
“I
am pretty much disgusted with this,” the Chicago resident after the
paper told her it found at least 17 documents containing her Social
Security number. The paperwork was from a job application with Rabjohns
Financial Group/New England Financial in Chicago, which included a
completed U4 form required in the industry.Rest Here: USA TODAY.
