(IsraelNN.com)- Foreign Ministry officials on Sunday demanded explanations from the Spanish ambassador to Israel regarding letters that were sent to the Israeli embassy in Madrid. The letters, addressed to the Israeli ambassador in Spain, ask “Mr. Ambassador, how many Palestinians did you murder today?”

The letters are apparently all from the same school in the Valencia region. Israeli officials believe that the children – who are in elementary school – were put up to the “project” by school officials and teachers.

The reason he’s not happy, Obama didn’t nationalize the banks…

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria introduced George Soros as “the billionaire investor, financier, speculator, philanthropist and thinker.”

Zakaria on his “Fareed Zakaria GPS” this morning also noted that Soros was one of Barack Obama’s biggest supporters. Zakaria asked, “Are you satisfied with the job Barack Obama has done?”

Soros said he wasn’t. Soros wanted the banks nationalized, but added that Obama “made the political decision that that is un-American, will not be accepted.”

“He is paying a very heavy price for actually saving the country from going into a very deep recession or a depression, because people don’t — haven’t experienced it,” Soros said.

“He wanted to be the great uniter and he wanted to carry the country, sort of bring it together. But the other side has absolutely no incentive to do it.  So it takes two to tango. So that approach has failed.”

I once attended a speech by Farrakhan in Newark, New Jersey. I was there to try to get a video interview with him. Everyone there was a devoted follower.

At one point during his long, boring speech he said, “I am not an enemy of the Jews. But they have chosen to make me their enemy. And, my brothers and sisters, if one of my enemies (meaning the Jews), should happen to assassinate me, I know what you would do.”

I heard the angry murmuring of the crowd. Sitting behind me was a Fruit of Islam security guard. He said out loud in a voice seething with violence and hate, “We’ll kill them all! We’ll burn down their Synagogues! Burn ‘em ALL down!”

I was shocked and horrified at what he said. I looked at Farrakhan on the stage. A terrible realization came to me. This is what it was like to be at a Nazi rally in Germany, with Hitler speaking about Jews…

CHICAGO (AP) - Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan claims the “white right” is trying to make Barack Obama a one-term president.

The 76-year-old says the stalling of health care legislation is proof.

Farrakhan is addressing followers of the Chicago-based movement that has embraced black nationalism since its founding. Sunday’s keynote speech is before an estimated 20,000 people on the last day of the group’s Saviours Day convention.

Farrakhan has vigorously supported Obama.

WASHINGTON – During his whirlwind visit to Las Vegas two weeks ago, President Barack Obama mentioned U.S. Sen. Harry Reid by name four dozen times, gave him a big hug and talked him up as if he was a long-lost brother.

In remarks that could not have been more laudatory, Obama repeatedly characterized the veteran Democratic leader as a man “made of very strong stuff” who was making the right decisions for the state back in the nation’s capital.

But as Reid faces an uphill path to win re-election to a fifth Senate term, Obama’s enthusiastic endorsement does not appear to have improved the Senate majority leader’s standing among constituents, according to a new poll conducted for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Reid got no bounce from Obama’s visit on Feb. 19, when the president spoke highly of him at Green Valley High School and to business leaders at CityCenter, polling indicates.

A larger percentage of voters surveyed (17 percent) said they would be less likely to vote for Reid following the president’s visit than said they would be more likely to vote for him (7 percent). Seventy-five percent said Obama’s visit would have no effect on how they vote.

“Reid was not helped, and Obama was not any more popular than he was before he came to the state,” said Brad Coker, managing director at Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

WASHINGTON – President Obama abandoned his defense of Rep. Charles Rangel against a raft of ethics charges Fridayas a handful of rank-and-file Dems echoed GOP demands to demand that Rangel give up his chairman’s gavel.
 
White House officials have privately called Rangel “untouchable” in the past, but Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama stressed that “rules are put in place for a reason and that those rules can and must apply to each and every person.”

Obama also said that members of Congress “ought to be accountable,” Gibbs reported, “and that applies to everyone,” including the powerful 79-year-old Harlem Democrat who chairs the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

MSNBC’s bombastic left-wing “news” anchor Keith Olbermann is out of control and causing increasing problems for the cable news network, NBC insiders say.

Olbermann, who fancies himself as a cross between news legend Edward R. Murrow and Howard Beale, the mad prophet newsman of the black comedy movie “Network,” went after former MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams Wednesday night, claiming Abrams had been fired and had a grudge against the network.

The tirade left NBC executives red-faced because Abrams, a lawyer, is still employed by NBC as a news analyst on legal issues.

Olbermann castigated Abrams in a new segment of his show “The Countdown Hall of Shame,” which replaced the tired “Worst Persons in the World Segment” that had turned into a nightly tirade against Fox News personalities Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck.

Obermann named the media website Mediaite— founded by Abrams — as runner up in the Hall of Shame Category because it reported on the Tea Party calling Obermann out for his claim that the grassroots movement lacked diversity when MSNBC anchors are mostly whitebread.

Oberman may have lost more than his credibility with the inaccurate attack on Abrams. Some in the NBC power structure wonder if Olbermann is a loser for the network. Despite his claims of viewership gains, Obermann’s ratings lag far behind right-wing powerhouses like O’Reilly.

(Washington Examiner)- Forbes magazine has completed a comprehensive look at “The Global Debt Bomb” and in the course of compiling the results found this very interesting tidbit:

“The five states in the worst financial condition–Illinois, New York, Connecticut, California and New Jersey–are all among the bluest of blue states. The five most fiscally fit states are more of a mix. Three–Utah, Nebraska and Texas–boast Republican majorities and two–New Hampshire and Virginia–skew Democratic.”

But wait, it’s actually more serious than that when you look at the 10 states in the worst financial condition, according to Forbes:

“Of the 10 states in the worst financial condition, eight are among a total of 23 defined by Gallup as “solidly Democratic,” meaning the Democrats enjoy an advantage of 10 percentage points or greater in party affiliation. These states include the ones listed above as making up the bottom five, plus Massachusetts, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Forbes quotes an Illinois political science professor who explains why these rankings turn out as they do:

“Why do Democratic states appear to be struggling more than Republican ones? It comes down to stronger unions and a larger appetite for public programs, according to Kent Redfield, professor emeritus of political studies and public affairs at the University of Illinois’ Center for State Policy and Leadership

(Ynet)- Despite the ambiguity in Israel over who killed Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai last month, Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said on Sunday that “the Mabhouh assassination was not a failure. I don’t know who did it, I am addressing the results.”

On an Army Radio broadcast, the industry, trade and labor minister said, “I don’t know if it was us or not us.”

Ben-Eliezer said the assassination brought with it deterrence: “The question is, what was this man’s value, and what this achieved. Assuming that he was of great value, the organization knows one thing – there is no one who can’t be caught up with or that can’t be reached. For me, this is deterrence.”

Former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz has also recently praised the deterrence achieved by the assassination: “Anyone like Mabhouh should think twice before acting.”

Ben-Eliezer was careful not to tie Israel to the hit: “I won’t get into arguments of whether it was intelligence agents or not. Why get into that? After all, the important thing is to see what remains in their memory, and the result was immediately translated, since Nasrallah wore a wig when he travelled to Damascus, meaning he understands that he is being watched, and this is what matters.”

(The Hill)- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday that Republicans have left their mark on the healthcare bill and should accept that the bill will go forward.

“They’ve had plenty of opportunity to make their voices heard,” she said on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday morning. “Bipartisanship is a two-way street. A bill can be bipartisan without bipartisan votes. Republicans have left their imprint.”

(Fox News)- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue’s massive role in this election year.

Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment,will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program “This Week.” “We’re not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress,” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”

It’s unclear whether Pelosi’s remarks will embolden or chill dozens of moderate House Democrats who face withering criticisms of the health care proposal in visits with constituents and in national polls. Republican lawmaker unanimously oppose the health care proposals, and many GOP strategists believe voters will turn against Democrats in the November elections.

country on March 12, stars Matt Damon and reunites him with Paul Greengrass, the director who brought a propulsive visual style to “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.” And television ads and trailers promise plenty of suspense, firepower and, of course, fighting in close quarters.

But while “Green Zone” looks and moves much like a Bourne sequel, it
also comes with a significant strike against it as a commercial
proposition: It’s a movie about the Iraq war, a subject that has proven
to be a recipe for box-office disappointment. Set in Baghdad in the
chaotic early days of the American occupation, “Green Zone” dramatizes
the fruitless hunt for weapons of mass destruction and climaxes on the
first night of full-blown insurgency in Iraq. And the film isn’t shy
about its politics. “Green Zone” is not an apolitical view of soldiers
struggling to survive a grinding war, but a conspiracy thriller that
directly addresses the possibility that the war might have been a huge
scam, and a botched one at that.

SAN DIEGO – Anger boiled over on the University of California San Diego campus Friday, where students took over the chancellor’s office for several hours to protest the hanging of a noose in a campus library.

Students wearing red handkerchiefs over their faces blocked the doors to Chancellor Marye Anne Fox’s offices for hours, while more students inside chanted “Real pain, real change.”

They left the office peacefully at sundown, about the same time that leaders of the university’s Black Student Union ended talks with administrators in a nearby conference room over demands that include more boosting the African-American curriculum and campus activities. A university spokesman, Jeff Gattas, said there were no arrests and no property was damaged during the takeover.

… Leaders of the Black Student Union said they were disappointed with the administration’s response to their list of 32 demands. The school agreed to many, such as funding a vacant position for program coordinator for an African American Studies minor.

But the administration said requiring undergraduates to take courses in African-American, ethnic and gender studies was beyond its scope of authority. Funding the Black Student Union, it said, depended on state funding and decisions of the student government.

The administration plans to resume talks with the students Monday, said Danny Widener, a history professor who supports the Black Student Union and participated in Friday’s discussions.

The school — where about 2 percent students are black — has been in turmoil over an off-campus “Compton Cookout” party organized by some students that urged people to dress as ghetto stereotypes and promised there would be chicken, watermelon and malt liquor.

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama has finished his first medical checkup as president and knows when he’s supposed to go see the doctor again — when he’s 50.

The 48-year-old commander in chief had a physical examination on Sunday at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. His last one was in January 2007, when he was an Illinois senator.

White House physician Jeffrey Kuhlman and a team of specialists conducted the exam. The White House is expected to release results later Sunday.

The president was told to come back in August 2011 — after he hits the half-century mark — for his next checkup.

Obama also met with 12 members of the military who were receiving treatment at the medical center for injuries they suffered while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Bonus: Blames record snow storms on global warming…

(NY Times)- I, for one, genuinely wish that the climate crisis were an illusion. But unfortunately, the reality of the danger we are courting has not been changed by the discovery of at least two mistakes in the thousands of pages of careful scientific work over the last 22 years by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In fact, the crisis is still growing because we are continuing to dump 90 million tons of global-warming pollution every 24 hours into the atmosphere — as if it were an open sewer.

It is true that the climate panel published a flawed overestimate of the melting rate of debris-covered glaciers in the Himalayas, and used information about the Netherlands provided to it by the government, which was later found to be partly inaccurate. In addition, e-mail messages stolen from the University of East Anglia in Britain showed that scientists besieged by an onslaught of hostile, make-work demands from climate skeptics may not have adequately followed the requirements of the British freedom of information law.

But the scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes. What is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged. It is also worth noting that the panel’s scientists — acting in good faith on the best information then available to them — probably underestimated the range of sea-level rise in this century, the speed with which the Arctic ice cap is disappearing and the speed with which some of the large glacial flows in Antarctica and Greenland are melting and racing to the sea.

…The heavy snowfalls this month have been used as fodder for ridicule by those who argue that global warming is a myth, yet scientists have long pointed out that warmer global temperatures have been increasing the rate of evaporation from the oceans, putting significantly more moisture into the atmosphere — thus causing heavier downfalls of both rain and snow in particular regions, including the Northeastern United States. Just as it’s important not to miss the forest for the trees, neither should we miss the climate for the snowstorm.

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is questioning whether the conservative “tea party” coalition truly represents a grass-roots movement.

In a broadcast interview, Pelosi calls tea party voters the “astroturf” movement. She says many of those voters have good intentions but that the Republican Party has hijacked the movement for its gain.

The San Francisco Democrat says the tea party coalition shares some common ground with Democrats, such as their dislike of special interests in Washington. She cited public disdain for the recent Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance that allows companies and unions to spend freely on ads that promote or target particular candidates by name.

Pelosi spoke in an interview with ABC’s “This Week” that was airing Sunday.

Comrade Obama gives Jackson Lee the kiss of death…

“The Big Enchilada!”

That’s how a spokesman for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee described the endorsement that came the Democratic congresswoman’s way Saturday afternoon. No, it wasn’t from a senator or labor union, as important as those endorsements may be to the incumbent from the 18th Congressional district. This one, it turns out, was the biggest enchilada.

“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is a tireless champion for Houston’s working families,” President Barack Obama said in a statement released by the Jackson Lee campaign. “That’s why we need her back in Congress to help my efforts to bring real jobs back to Houston and the nation.”

What must make the president’s words especially galling to Jackson Lee’s challengers, City Council member Jarvis Johnson and local lawyer Sean Roberts, is that they challenged Jackson Lee in the first place in part because of her steadfast support of Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential race.

They maintained that most residents of the 18th were Obama supporters and Jackson Lee was thumbing her nose at them.

(The Hill)- President Barack Obama signed into law Saturday a one-year extension of several surveillance provisions included in the Patriot Act.

The House approved the bill 315-97 on Thursday, a day after the extension passed the Senate.

The provisions, including roving wiretaps, records access and tracking terror suspects not affiliated with any group, were set to expire on Sunday. Democrats opposing the extension were unable to add desired civil-liberties protections.

The Patriot Act was first passed by Congress after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as a defense mechanism against terrorists.

Note: I’m all for the extension.

(Daily Mail)- Britain’s Ambassador to Kuwait has left his post following claims that he had an affair with a married Embassy worker who is now pregnant.

Michael Aron has moved back to Britain to take up a job in Whitehall – just over a year after starting the important role in the Middle East.

His return came after rumours of an affair with brunette Victoria Cumming, who is 15 years his junior, began circulating among the wealthy ex-pat community.

Under Kuwait’s strict Sharia Law, married couples who commit adultery can face a punishment of 100 lashes or three years in prison. Foreign nationals face the same penalty and are usually deported.

Note: Even though Kuwait is enormously wealthy and modernized, they still practice the same draconian version of sharia law that Saudi Arabia implements…
