You’re likely to hear a chorus of dire warnings as we approach Earth Day, but there’s a serious shortage few pundits are talking about: air pollution. That’s right, the world is running short on air pollution, and if we continue to cut back on smoke pouring forth from industrial smokestacks, the increase in global warming could be profound.
Cleaner air, one of the signature achievements of the U.S. environmental movement, is certainly worth celebrating. Scientists estimate that the U.S. Clean Air Act has cut a major air pollutant called sulfate aerosols, for example, by 30% to 50% since the 1980s, helping greatly reduce cases of asthma and other respiratory problems.
…Researchers believe greenhouse gases such as CO2 have committed the Earth to an eventual warming of roughly 4 degrees Fahrenheit, a quarter of which the planet has already experienced. Thanks to cooling by aerosols starting in the 1940s, however, the planet has only felt a portion of that greenhouse warming. In the 1980s, sulfate pollution dropped as Western nations enhanced pollution controls, and as a result, global warming accelerated.
There’s hot debate over the size of what amounts to a cooling mask, but there’s no question that it will diminish as industries continue to clean traditional pollutants from their smokestacks. Unlike CO2, which persists in the atmosphere for centuries, aerosols last for a week at most in the air. So cutting them would probably accelerate global warming rapidly.
I am sure that the volcano in Iceland will drop the average temperature a degree or two.
I can barely comment on this stuff anymore – it is just that unbelievable – pretty soon, the lefty climate idiots will link aspirin or tunafish salad to global warming. And I just love asking people I have met who are so, so worried about CO2 levels just what those levels currently are. So far, a grand total of NONE of them know how much CO2 is present in the atmosphere. It is only on the order of 0.038%. Hey, al gore, when it gets to 50%, call me, then I will worry….unless, of course it replaces the oxygen in the air we breathe, and then we’ll all be dead anyway from suffocation. By the way, another good question for the lefty climate idiots: So how much OXYGEN is in the air we breathe? A lot will get that one wrong, too.

If CO2 is such a super insulator @ 380-400ppm, why arent we capturing it in capsules and stuffing it into the walls of our houses? thats because ITS NOT.
If more people knoew this simple 9th grade science factoid they would not be swallowing the shit the left has been stuffing down our throat for decades.
Hey by the way, how’s that ozone layer doing? Remember when these douchebags brought several entire industries to their knees by saying CFC’s were gonna make the sky fall? Yeah me too, because I could not afford to keep my small airconditioning business open because of it.
But hows that ozone leyer doing? never hear do ya? thats because its cycles havent changed. Sometimes its a little bigger than others over the south pole, usually in the southern hemisphere’s winter. Know why? When there’s less sun, less ozone is created in the upper atmosphere. So in the winter, there’s less ozone. Duhhh!
CFC’s and Halogenated CFC’s were some of the most useful compounds ever invented. They were non toxic, inexpensive, mostly inert and suited for a wide variety of industrial process applications, not to mention their role as air conditioning and refrigeration’s dominant refrigerants for decades. They mixed well with ordinary mineral oils to produce machinery that ran well for years.
Today we have to use azeotropic and tertiary mixtures of different chemicals that operate at higher pressures, (more leak oppportunities) require expensive ester based oils, and are sometimes prone to chemically separating.
All for nothing. All because politicicians believed the bad science that common sense would tell you is wrong. CFC’s, far heavier than air- were supposed to be making it up into the outer atmosphere, reacting with sunlight, separating from their chlorine atoms, then the chlorine atoms themselves would attack the ozone. Never mind that chlorine itself is heavier than air and you would have a tough time convincing me that it could make it up to the troposphere on its own, never mind as part of a much heavier CFC or HCFC molecule.
The CFC scare was a trial run for the biggest scam in human history- co2 caused global warming.

I wonder what happened with all the super fund money also to do cleanups? This shit is all about bringing in capital to the government coffers, plain and simple. Redistribution of wealth is also an outcome. I love the BS about getting your home certified if you will be selling it…you will have to spend several thousand dollars bringing it to their code, or you can’t sell it and they do the inspection which also costs you.
Added to the mountain of existing evidence that liberalism is a mental illness.
