(CNS News)- In an editorial posted on its website Sunday night, Sarah’s Palin’s hometown newspaper in Wasilla, Alaska, warned author and journalist Joe McGinniss (who has moved next door to Palin as he conducts research for a book on the former governor) about a state law that allows the use of deadly force to defend one’s property.

The editorial, titled “Wasilla fence fascinating for national media outlets,”paints a disparaging portrait both of McGinniss’ work and the national media’s coverage of his controversial decision to take up temporary residence so close to Palin.

Its concluding sentence reads, “Finally, those who are fond of Joe McGinniss might remind him (if he doesn’t already know) that Alaska has a law that allows the use of deadly force in protection of life and property.”

Managing editor Tom Mitchell, who wrote the editorial, said that it was vetted by the Frontiersman’s publisher, Kari Sleight, and a reporter at the newspaper.

“I didn’t see it as being controversial. It’s just a statement of fact,” Mitchell told CBS News. “Plus, it was intended to be more humorous than anything.”

On Saturday, McGinniss told his side of the story to the Washington Post, emphasizing that he respected Palin’s privacy and was not interested in spying on her children, as Palin had suggested he was.

Look, this is a pain in the ass for them,” he told the Post. “I understand that. If I were her, I’d be upset. I’d be annoyed. But I’d be an adult about it, and I would figure out, okay, how can we resolve this in a way that’s not going to make this into something that everybody gets obsessive about?

“By being here, I have learned things, and I’ve gotten an insight into her character, into her ability to incite hatred, that before I only knew about in the abstract.” (Her ability to incite hatred? I’m sure Palin’s hate-mail bag begs to differ -ed.)

VIENNA — Iran has amassed more than two tons of enriched uranium, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Monday in a report that heightened Western concerns about the country preparing to produce a nuclear weapon.

Two tons of uranium would suffice for two nuclear warheads, although Iran says it does not want weapons and is only pursuing civilian nuclear energy.

On enrichment, the report said Iran had now enriched 2,427 kilograms to just over three percent level. That means shipping out 1,200 kilograms (as proposed by the IAEA late in 2009) now would still leave Iran with more than enough material to make a nuclear weapon. That makes the deal brokered by Turkey and Brazil unattractive to the U.S and its allies.

The 16% are apparently still waiting for Chicago Jesus to perform a miracle…

UTICA, New York – Positive opinion about the federal government’s handling of a British Petroleum (BP) Gulf of Mexico oil spill is down 13 points from two weeks ago, dropping from 29% to 16%, a new Zogby Interactive survey finds.

Currently, 16% rate the federal government’s response to the spill as excellent or good. The same question in a May 7-10 Zogby Interactive survey found a total of 29% giving a positive rating. Opinion of British Petroleum’s handling of the spill is also down from the previous poll, going from positive ratings of 25% then to just 15% now.

….Another question from both surveys referred to a statement from the Obama Administration that one of its primary roles is, “Keeping the boot on the neck of BP.” The number of those who agree with that statement dropped from 42% on May 10 to 33% now.

(ABC News) — US officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda’s No. 3 — Mustafa Ahmed Muhammad Uthman Abu al-Yazid, known as Shaikh Sa’id al-Masri and Mustafa Abu al-Yazid – has been killed. Al Qaeda released a eulogy of Shaikh Sa’id tonight, officials said.

“Word is spreading in extremist circles of the death of Sheikh Sa’id al-Masri, widely viewed as the number three figure in al-Qaeda,” a US official told ABC News. “We have strong reason to believe that’s true, and that al-Masri was killed recently in Pakistan’s tribal areas. In terms of counterterrorism, this would be a big victory.”

US officials believed him to have been killed about a week ago in Pakistan.

Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri are the spiritual founders, and considered No. 1 and No. 2 of al Qaeda list, but Shaikh Sa’id is considered the link between those two and rest of the operation, and for all intents and purposes the one running the organization day to day.

“Al-Masri was the group’s chief operating officer,” the official said, “with a hand in everything from finances to operational planning. He was also the organization’s prime conduit to Bin Ladin and Zawahiri. He was key to al-Qaeda’s command and control.”

A thought: Will this derail the anarchist/socialist agenda to disrupt global economy as austerity regulations are passed? Think about it, all the (under reported in the US) news over the last few weeks were the riots in Greece, Spain, Germany and France. The P.I.G.S was about to topple every market. Aren’t we lucky to have the Jews to blame this time for the riots? (sarc) Personally I’d like to see the anarchist rioters clash with the Jihadi mobs across Europe. Let them sort their differences upon each other. May I suggest some ‘peaceful non-violent resistance measures’, such as those they had on the Jihadi boats?

Here is video of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking from Canada about the Israeli raid on a Turkish ship carrying Pro-Palestinian activists and supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu said Israeli forces boarded six ships to search them for weapons. On five of the ships, Netanyahu said things went smoothly. But on the sixth ship – the largest in the flotilla – a mob of people attacked the Israeli troops with clubs and knives, beating and stabbing several Israeli soldiers. The troops defended themselves, resulting in at least nine people being killed.

The ships were boarded as part of an ongoing blockade of supplies going into the Gaza Strip. Prior to imposing a blockade, pro-Palestinian groups would send rockets and other weapons into Gaza disguised as humanitarian aid.

Shawarma posted a video earlier than was taken from the air, this one clearly shows the Israeli commandos were fighting for their lives…

The group behind the Gaza flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli commandos today counts among its top supporters the friends and associates of President Barack Obama, namely the founders of the Weather Underground terrorist organization, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink.

Earlier today, Israeli navy commandos raided the six-ship flotilla, encountering heavy resistance and live fire from the activists. Several activists were killed and dozens of others were reportedly injured, as were several of the Israeli commandos.

The flotilla was organized by the Free Gaza Movement, a coalition of leftist human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups engaged in attempts to break a blockade imposed by Israel on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Ayers, Dohrn and Evans’ Code Pink have led several recent Free Gaza Movement initiatives, including attempted marches into the Gaza Strip. Dorhn was in the Middle East just last month on behalf of the movement.

Ayers and Dohrn were close associates for years with President Obama, while Evans was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign.

The Hill — Attorney General Eric Holder told an audience in Paris on Monday that he and President Barack Obama are committed to battling corruption as “one of the great struggles of our time.”

Holder, addressing the 35-nation Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, said the World Bank estimates that more than $1 trillion in bribes are paid out each year.

“Put simply, corruption undermines the promise of democracy,” Holder said. “It imperils development, stability, and faith in our markets. And it weakens the rule of law.”

The attorney general said that battling corruption required global cooperation because “corruption erodes, even destroys, the faith of citizens in their governments” and endangers economic stability.

“As I speak, a corrupt official somewhere is enjoying undeserved and illegal proceeds,” Holder said. “He may be driving a brand-new luxury car. She may be filling her off-shore bank account with tainted cash. They may be traveling first-class on all-expenses-paid holidays.”

“. . . Bribery in international business, for example, may center on shell companies and wire transfers, but no matter where — or how — it happens, the corrosive result is the same: stymied development, lost confidence, and distorted competition. The result is unfairness, not justice; the consequence is economic decay, not development.”

Holder told the group that, as attorney general, he has “made combating corruption one of the highest priorities of the Department of Justice.”

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that President Obama, in a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told him the U.S. needed the “facts” on the Israeli raid on a ship carrying Pro-Palestinian activists and supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip:

An audience member asked Pelosi if she “ever worries” about losing the Majority in the Midterms. Pelosi responded:

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan lifted a ban on Facebook on Monday after officials from the social networking site apologized for a page deemed offensive to Muslims and removed its contents, a top information technology official said.

The move came almost two weeks after Pakistan imposed the ban amid anger over a page that encouraged users to post images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Many Muslims regard depictions of the prophet, even favorable ones, as blasphemous.

“In response to our protest, Facebook has tendered their apology and informed us that all the sacrilegious material has been removed from the URL,” said Najibullah Malik, secretary of Pakistan’s information technology ministry, referring to the technical term for a Web page.

Facebook assured the Pakistani government that “nothing of this sort will happen in the future,” Malik said.

Officials from the website could not immediately be reached for comment.

They said earlier the contents of the “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!” page did not violate Facebook’s terms.

ELWOOD, Illinois (Washington Post) – President Obama was rushed offstage at a Memorial Day event after a massive lightning and rain storm opened up on the open field where he was to speak.

Obama told thousands of guests at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery to get to a place of safety.

“Excuse me, everybody listen up,” Obama told the crowd. “We are a little bit concerned about lightning. This may not be safe. I know that all of you are here to commemorate the fallen… What we’d like to do is if possible have people move back to their cars and if this passes in the next 15-20 minutes I’ll stick around.”

He said he hoped the ceremony could resume later. “But we don’t want to endanger anyone, particularly the children, in the audience,” he said. “A little bit of rain doesn’t hurt anybody but we don’t want anybody struck by lightning.”

Obama was then whisked into a motorcade which sat, unmoving, for several minutes, unable to proceed in the heavy rain.

(AFP May 30, 2010)- Washington’s unprecedented backing for a UN resolution for a nuclear-free Middle East that singles out Israel has both angered and deeply worried the Jewish state although officials are cagey about openly criticising their biggest ally.

The resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection.

It also calls for a regional conference in 2012 to advance the goal of a nuclear-free Middle East.

Israel is widely believed to be the only nuclear power in the Middle East, with around 200 warheads, but has maintained a policy of deliberate ambiguity about its capabilities since the mid-1960s.

The document, which singles out Israel but makes no mention of Iran’s controversial nuclear programme, drew a furious reaction from the Jewish state who decried it as “deeply flawed and hypocritical.”

But it was US backing for the resolution which has caused the most consternation among Israeli officials and commentators, who interpreted the move as “a resounding slap around the face” which has dealt a very public blow to Israel’s long-accepted policy of nuclear ambiguity.

Publicly, the Israel government has not criticised the US position but privately, officials expressed deep disappointment over the resolution, which Washington backed despite intensive Israeli efforts to block it.

(Haaretz)- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that he regretted the loss of life sustained by international activists after Israel Navy commandos stormed a flotilla bringing aid to the Gaza Strip, but said the Israeli troops who opened fire were justified for defending themselves.

He also said that Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip would continue.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said earlier Monday that the organizers of the Gaza aid flotilla were to blame for the violent events aboard the ship.

In a press conference hours after the incident, Barak said that Israel was prepared to accept the consequences of its actions and would continue to protect its autonomy.

Barak voiced regret for the deaths, but called the flotilla a political provocation and said the sponsors of the flotilla were violent supporters of a terror organization.
