Not Good: Arizona Boycotts Working, “People Aren’t Returning Our Calls, They Won’t Even Talk to Arizonans”…

Specifically it’s hitting the convention/tourism sector, ironically the hardest hit Arizonans will be the same people the left is protesting in favor of, especially in the hospitality area…

Acknowledging that Arizona has developed a serious image problem because of its tough new immigration law, Gov. Jan Brewer and tourism-industry leaders said Thursday that they will launch a new effort to stanch the flow of lost trade and convention business in the state.

The legislation and firestorm of negative publicity that followed brought calls for boycotts, moved groups to back out of local conventions and led several cities to cut business ties with Arizona companies.

The loss of business is critical in a recession-battered state vitally dependent on visitor spending.

…To date, dozens of cities and groups have announced boycotts. Arizona has lost at least 30 to 40 meetings and conventions, she said.

Officials were just starting to see signs of life when the backlash over the new immigration law began, said Debbie Johnson, CEO of the Arizona Tourism Alliance and the Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association.

A big issue, Johnson said, is “tentative” bookings and new business, those groups that have indicated they were interested in coming here between 2011 and 2015 but are now refusing to sign contracts.

“We’re hearing from our sales people in the hotels and resorts, that people aren’t returning their calls anymore – that they don’t even want to talk to Arizonans,” she said.

Time to counter protest. We need a list of the boycotters and let them know they are boycotted over their boycott.

Like to also add. This is al-Thuggy’s America. Happy you liberal drones?

Isn’t this just like a liberal? Unintended consequences, actions based on emotions and ignorance. The ones they want to “protect” – the maids, janitors, cooks, etc., all the jobs that “white people will not do” – the service industry mainly but all the supporting industries as well – they’re the ones liberals are screwing.

Next poll in Arizona will find even higher acceptance of the new law.

And don’t think for a moment that Obama isn’t behind all this vitriol it. He started right out the minute it passed attacking.

In order to save this country, Obama and his conspirators must be completely destroyed.

Let’s just have a civil war and get it over with. It’s UNBELIEVABLE that Americans are punishing Americans who are trying to get criminals out of their state. You stupid politically correct people wanted the Multicultural Utopian Fantasy — now you’ve got it and you destroyed the country’s demographics.

Make plans to visit Phoenix and the suburbs. Great golf, great restaurants, great people. Just stay clear of certain areas in downtown Phoenix.

My in-laws live in Sun City West, AZ and years ago we’d see illegals line up and down the streets waiting for work to come along. Since the city toughened up on illegals (before Brewer signed the legislation) there have been less people showing up. It’s working and that’s what counts.

Support Arizona (except those traitor “Los Suns” who I hope get there asses kicked by LA and then LA get their asses kicked by the Celtics).

We need to fight this folks. DON’T LET THE PROGRESSIVES CONTINUE TO WIN.

This is a 100% direct result of the treasonous news media and the politicians that are in bed with them. Keep screeching lies over and over until the public believe it. Of course, the public isn’t really on their side when 60+% still side with the Arizona law. Just image how many would support it if the MSM told the truth.

  13. Elric66 says:
    May 14, 2010 at 11:57 PM

    Rose,

Im not aware of any moderating. If drones like Rob can comment, Im sure you can also.

  14. Rose says:

Can you see my comment listing links to products made in Arizona? Cause I see it saying that is awaiting moderation?

  15. Elric66 says:
    May 15, 2010 at 12:11 AM

    Rose,

I think if you provide more than one link it goes into moderation. Keeps down the spam.

  16. RichardD says:

So, Arizona is being punished for up holding the law? Only in America folks, only in America.

  17. Rose says:
    May 15, 2010 at 12:22 AM

Then that’s it. Carry on. As I said yesterday, I’ve seen the light. WZ is right not to moderate. Do a search on products made in Arizona and go buy something! There’s lots!

  18. Rocketman says:

  19. Elric66 says:
    May 15, 2010 at 12:25 AM

    Rose,

The moderation has nothing to do with censorship. Its to keep down spammers. Other than multiple links, you can say just about anything. We do appreciate the links though, we are on the same side on this.

Hang in for a while, retards (democrats) have a very short attention span. Business will double as new businesses learn of the great facilities in Az. No matter what the lame stream media says, it’s publicity for your state. People only remember the name never the reason for knowing the name.

  21. 9-11 Infidel says:
    May 15, 2010 at 1:18 AM

I wouldn’t panic. Ultimately, Az will win out. Its real simple. If you support Az, buy Az products, and hold your conventions, conferences, etc there. If not, go ahead a book a hotel in Mexico and hope the drug gangs don’t notice your presence.

Oh and write or phone the Gov and tell her you support her decision.

Not apologising, indeed weasel-wording “we never said boycott,” but San Diego is almost on its knees. Hopefully soon to be prostrate, and with luck the first of many – especially in California.

  23. scarlett says:
    May 15, 2010 at 1:52 AM

I hope that the boycott thing turns against the boycotters. Boycotting Glenn Beck did not work for them. I think I read somewhere that it had an opposite affect. Of course boycotting a television show and a whole state is not the same at all, but I can try to do my own tiny part.

I found a list of Arizona products. I am going to buy pecans, pecan oil and subscribe to Arizona Highways magazine. You can get the mag in snail mail or digitally. I used to receive it some years ago and it was a first class mag published by the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Some how I need to check out the politics of the pecan people though, huh? I wonder how I could do that. I sure don’t want to buy stuff from some creep working against the new law.

I stand with Arizona. Not that I can help and not that they care what little old me thinks or stands for. But I DO.

  24. Texmom says:

“And don’t think for a moment that Obama isn’t behind all this vitriol”
That is absolutely right, and how shameful for an “American” president (yes, who is supposed to represent ALL of us) would encourage this attack. Never have we had such a devisive president.
I really, really hope Arizona will stay tough on this. I know it has to be hard, but they are really standing for us all. If Obama is allowed to bully them into backing down, this administration will be further empowered to lie, cheat and whatever it takes to shut down ANY dissent. It’s disgraceful.

  25. RayB says:

As an outsider I see nothing wrong with what Arizona has done. Your mexican problem would seem to me to be nearly as serious for you as the islamic problem.

The USA has a right to rigorously control it’s borders and that includes the Canadian border where, no doubt, islamists find an easy way in.

Easier said than done. The UK does not seem to be able to stop illegals even though we are an island.

Aiding and abetting criminals is a criminal act in every state and at the Federal level. Why aren’t these aiders and abettors being arrested for their crime? Of course that would include the arrests of the members of that criminal organization operating out of the White House.

La Raza wants to push boycott of AZ…go after the corps that give money (millions) to La Raza, email them letting them know it cuts both ways.

Corporations that are partners with La Raza
    Johnson & Johnson,
    Bank of America
    PepsiCo, Inc.
    Citi
    Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
    State Farm Insurance Companies
    Comcast Communications
    UPS
    Verizon

Institutional Corporate Partners …The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) recognizes those corporations that have invested in NCLR’s long-term strategic efforts with multiyear, multimillion-dollar commitments, including NCLR’s Empowering An American Community Campaign.

    The Allstate Corporation
    Bank of America
    The Coca-Cola Company
    Citi
    Fannie Mae
    Freddie Mac
    Ford Motor Company
    General Motors Corporation
    PepsiCo Foundation
    The PMI Group, Inc.

We should , also, call the RNC and pressure them into having their convention in Phoenix. They were considering it-and then changed their mind to Miami or Tampa instead. If they are really for cracking down on immigration -instead of amnesty- let them prove it to us by having their convention in Phoenix!!

  29. The REAL Bob says:

Another thought. Just how stupid are Obama and the rest of his devout followers and opportunists going to look when Arizona starts advertising that theirs is the SAFEST state in the country?

I am convinced, and I know others agree with this, that the Obama/Soros Cabal WANTS more and more violence in this country.

But even worse, have you noticed that Obama appears particularly angry lately? The meanness and hate in his eyes is the giveaway. Obama is clearly a madman. His attack on BP is another tipoff. Something’s really eating at this man. He’s afraid of something. Could it be that he’s been told he’s targeted for a hit? Maybe that’s why he’s actually DOING some small things in the war on terror? Maybe he fears being wiped out in the Nov. election? Maybe he hates Michelle because she’s more popular than he is? Or maybe his true self is finally revealing itself?

The man is completely out of control and all of D.C. knows it.

    Yeah Jack! Who knew? Incredible!

And this should have been on the recent “Pet Peeves” post, … but you know what really ticks me off, to pick up the phone, reach a company and be told to push a button to speak ENGLISH!!! And I speak fluent Spanish, but I can’t tell you the number of battles I’ve gotten in asking to speak to supervisors to tell them I shouldn’t have to push any button to speak my country’s language. It is such an insult. If you want to hamper someone’s development and ignorance and speak their foreign language, then tell them to push a button, not me.

It’s always difficult. Persistence and standing strongly behind your principles will pay off in the long run. There will be setbacks and some suffering to endure, there always is. Frankly, it could be much worse than it is, and putting it off or abandoning the policy will surely make it so. If things continue as they are, you will start to see a turn-around come December. So stick with it AZ. There are plenty of us on your side here.

I agree with Eric…Unfortanately I don’t have the time to take a vacation to Arizona right now to help offset their losses, but I will enthusiastically stop buying anything from any organization that boycotts Arizona…Please do a list…I’ll start with not buying anything made in LA for starters….Also, please publish a list of outfits that canceled conventions. 20% of the country can boycott Arizona and 70% to 80% of the country can boycott them

  35. Randy says:

A secondary larger issue hear is state rights, watch what happens next!!

It is time for states like Arizona and others who support them like my state New Hampshire to leave the US and form a new country.

This only shows we are too diverse to remain one country.

A good example of this is Mass. and how Boston Dictates to the rest of the state. Many there wish Boston would be destroyed by a Tsunami yesterday. Employers outside the region won’t hire Bostonians because their extreme liberal ideas and intolerance frequently create workplace problems.

Again there as those who feel Arizona knows what is best for its state, like people in NH, and there are those who think they know best for everyone else.
No need to argue with these subs time for us to part and go our separate ways!!
