NY Schools’ “Human Rights” Curriculum Features Van Jones…

Indoctrination 101…
Comments & pings are closed.(Big Government) — Last Friday, December 10, over 1,000 New York students took part in the inaugural webcast of the “Speak Truth to Power” curriculum distributed by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights and New York State United Teachers.
The web event originated from a classroom at Chestnut Ridge Middle School, a school with a student population that recently scored below-average on statewide tests, according to the New York Times. It is extremely difficult to see how lessons focusing on corporate “greed,” landmine awareness, Chinese labor camps and abolishing the death penalty will do anything to raise student test scores in math, reading and science.
According to a NYSUT blog, the curriculum “introduces general human rights issues” and “urges students to become personally involved in the protection of human rights.”
New York parents and taxpayers ought to be very concerned that their public schools think this curriculum is an appropriate use of time. Students may end up with an increased awareness of global problems, but if they don’t graduate with basic academic skills, what can they possibly do about such issues?
This is another case of public schools using class time to indoctrinate students with a radical, leftist political agenda. No curriculum that promotes the views of Van Jones should be allowed to pollute the minds of school kids.

I hope Glenn Beck talks about this soon.
Van Jones is the worst person to ever be allowed to talk to kids let alone be around them.
He is a smooth-talking Communist and as dangerous as a pervert.
I hope parents are waking up to this nightmare thrust upon us by the idiots that voted for Obama.
There are so many giveaways in this article it’s tough to know where to start.
First, the school is performing poorly. I’m going out on a limb and make that call that it’s located in an urban area with a high minority population.
Second, it’s tough to see how the topics at this curriculum will help kids with math and reading. This is interesting since it’s this very curriculum which is aimed directly at the minority areas and their school systems. Their kids go through this crap, getting degrees in it and then come out rabid American-hating Marxists who pick up plush government jobs pushing the same ideas – all the while completely unable to balance a checkbook. Of course the school they came from is performing probably dead last in math and science and reading but these kids will get kicked up the line based on ethnic or sexual status.
I see this every day at a certain school near me.
Third, the family unit in these urban areas is almost totally destroyed so there’s usually one adult running the house (sometimes none, believe it or not) who is either on the dole or working his/her ass off to keep everyone alive. Of course there is no major emphasis on school in these neighborhoods. It’s the usual ‘everyone hates us, it’s everyone else’s fault, we’re owed for years of mistreatment by X’ mentality.
So along comes a very clever Marxist agitator like Van Jones who uses the taxpayer funds to set up a little speaking engagement. He tells them how Democracy, Capitalism, God and the MAN are all bad and holding them down. And he goes over like hotcakes in this environment.
Forget math and science with this crowd. It ain’t happening. There are too many openings in social justice studies or minority studies. Easy degrees with guaranteed employment in some taxpayer-funded organization set up to bitch and moan about how awful things are for the gays, women and minorities all the while making a fortune off the very taxpayers they hate.
Want to end this cycle? All this crap – the grants for speakers like Van Jones and classes like Social Justice Studies – have to be defunded immediately. We pay for the very thing that is killing us.
Sounds exactly like the samples of questions I have seen that Obama had for his classes on constitutional law. Always gays, women, and minorities.
Will these people ever give up? Will this administration ever say NO to these idiots?
Never mind, I don’t know what I was thinking!
Tanya, I understand what you’re saying. And you answered your own question. Why is this? Because we have allowed the Left to create an entire class of people who make their living as perpetually outraged against America, Capitalism, Democracy, freedom, Conservatism, God, Catholics, Christians, Jews, and the military. The way to roll this back, as I mentioned earlier, is to start cutting the funding to the innumerable grants our government provides to this crowd.
IM, you’re on the right track about that middle school. It’s 59% black, 24% Hispanic, 10% white, 6% Asian. 51% are on free lunch, and labeled as poor. It’s the perfect democrat recruiting ground.
When Are They Going to have Open season on these Assholes Sarc on
Nothing like free lunch. Free stuff is good.
This is an outrage. Parents are paying taxes for their kids to be indoctrinated by a revolutionary? What more will it take, people??
Made to order little community organizers. Do they get a free copy of Rules for Radicals?
Yeah, cuz who better to talk about human rights than a murderous, Marxist pig who espouses an ideology that’s easily killed 200 million people in the last 100 years?
Makes perfect sense to me.
More evidence (besides test scores) of trying to achieve the progressive vision of mediocrity. Of course America is no longer exceptional…just look at Van Jones. He’s a fine example of unexceptional mediocrity. Gotta lead by example right lefties?
Why should this surprise anyone ? . This has been going on since who knows when . Who did you vote for ? . Do some soul searching , then ask yourself if its worth saving this country . The shits about to hit the fan , hope your prepared .
My first though after reading The trouble school poor test grades was Communist breeding ground.
HOW DO WE STOP THIS?????????????SERIOUSLY!

Well, what can they do? By following this sort of path they will BECOME a part of the “global problems”. Certainly never a solution.
“Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights and New York State United Teachers.”
Wow, Poly Sci meets Education. Figuring the combined IQ of this venture it stands to reason that it takes the likes of Van Jones to represent this collection of leftist trash.
