Report: Steele Will Announce He’s Not Going to Run For RNC Chairman…Update: On Second Thought, He Is Running…
Dear God, let this be true…
(Fox News)- Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is expected to announce he will drop out of the highly contested race to keep his post, multiple RNC sources told FoxNews.com on Sunday.
Fox News has confirmed Steele sent an e-mail to committee members Saturday night with the subject line, “conference call.”
In the note, he asked members to join him “for a private conference call” Monday evening.
Republicans picked up 63 seats in the House, narrowed the gap in the Senate and picked up 19 state legislative bodies in the November midtem election, but pressure has been mounting all year for Steele to step down from the position.
Critics have described the chairman as gaffe-prone and said he hasn’t raised enough money. The criticism has resulted in an array of challenges for Steele’s job from Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus, former RNC Co-Chairwoman Ann Wagner, longtime Republican official Maria Cino, former Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis and former RNC Political Director Gentry Collins.
Update: Major bummer…
Comments & pings are closed.(Fox News)- Controversial Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who last month presided over the GOP’s biggest electoral gains since 1938, will announce tonight that he is running for re-election, Fox News has learned from two RNC members.
Ending weeks of rumors that he would not seek a second term, Steele plans to throw his hat into the ring during a conference call with RNC members at 7:30 p.m. ET, the sources said. Steele is said to be amused by false reports of his retirement and intentionally kept his plans secret for the last month in order to flush out competitors for the post, Fox has learned.
During Steele’s tenure, Republicans picked up 63 House seats in last month’s elections, the biggest gain in more than seven decades. But Steele has been dogged by criticism from some Republicans who see him as prone to missteps.

I quit giving money to the RNC in 2005 because I was so pissed at their profligate spending. I figured I would give to individual candidates that more closely reflected my views on fiscal responsibility.
And I have no intention of ever changing that policy. Even if the dump all of the establishment RINO’s.
Buy….but…he’s “black”! This’ll set affirmative action back a
half a century.
Obama has already done that.
So long, Michael Steele
Bye, bye Mr Steele. Time for some change at the RNC. RHINO’s need not apply.
Good, then I can start giving to the RNC again.
That would make me a happy camper… Steele is a DISASTER…
Good Riddance
Lets hope the bitch that pushed for obamacare doesn’t get the RNC chair..We need to stay on top of this…It could get much worse then Steele… I know who would of thought.
Flashback — RNC supports Gov Crist, loses to Marco Rubio.
Vote them all out.
How will the RNC survive without his advanced paper shuffling skills?
He had absolutely nothing to do with the republican gains in the past election,
the results are much more attributable to the despicable activities of the Dhimmocrats.
He kept his head down and tried not to rock the boat.
His “leadership” skills are on the same level as Barry.
In regard to the Update:
Arrogant Asshole…he will lose- Big Time.
What a fool..wait for him to start using the race-card issue again.
He’s toast, if he said he’s not going to run, at least he could have left with a little dignity.
Diamond Girl sums Steele nicely.
Hey Mr. Steele…just go away already.
For the good of the party just walk away.
The RNC needs an actual LEADER, not some affirmative action appointed RINO.
I’d never been called a racist by the Chairman of the RNC until this guy came along. I’d not seen a Chairman of the RNC abuse the hardearned money that was donated to elect people that would speak for fiscal responsibility. Corporate jets, limos, high-end hotels, paying the bills for staff to party at strip joints. No, I’ve had enough. It’s doubtful I’ll ever contribute another red cent to the RNC, especially after bludgening us into McCain as a candidate.
Oh, and Mr. Steele, I once thought you were presidential material. Only goes to show what you can find out about a person by simply giving them a little power, then sit back and watch what they do with it.
Damn!.
okay. i don’t know what the problem is that people have with steele. WHO are these republicans that called his ‘missteps’? Seems to me that STeele was the only connection that kept tea partiers and the RNC at least semi civil to each other. It appears to me that it is the republican Elites that don’t like him. Personally i don’t have a problem with him and i dread to see who or what takes his place. or maybe i don’t. This is not an endorsement of the republican party. I am ready to be schooled if necessary.
oh puhleeeze

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
No surprise really, Steel is only out for his own ego damn the parties losses as long as he’s head of something
I’ve already told those dimwits at the RNC not one dime more until Michael Steele’s incomepetent ass is out the door and a real conservative has replaced him. Calypso Jones, you couldn’t be more wrong about Steele. You just regurgitated the BS that he churned out this past year. All he has done is put his foot in his mouth, lose donors, and piss away money on things like supporting RINOs (e.g. Charlie Crist). Once upon a time I thought Steele had something on the ball, but he showed himself to be an arrogant, race baiting sleaze within days of getting the RNC post.
I’m just confused here then, Guys, because what about this?

Steele says Crist won’t be Senator.
