Jimmy Carter: Losing Reelection “Biggest Failure” of My Presidency, Taught Me “You Should Never Let American Hostages be Held for 444 Days in a Foreign Country”

He needed to lose an election to realize it’s a bad idea to let American citizens be held hostage by Islamic fanatics for 444 days? Never mind the fact that he considers losing to Reagan the “biggest failure” of his presidency (see: economy, stagflation, gas shortages, Iranian hostage crisis etc.)….

(Politico) — Former President Jimmy Carter says his biggest failure during his term in the White House was that he didn’t get to spend another four years there.

“I guess my biggest failure was not getting reelected,” he said in an interview with Big Think, referring to the 1980 presidential election.

Carter, 86, said the loss taught him “not to ever let American hostages be held for 444 days in a foreign country without extracting them.” He added, “I did the best I could, but I failed.”

Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) challenged Carter in the Democratic primaries “and then that cost me a lot of votes,” the former president said.

“I should have paid more attention to the organization of the Democratic Party,” Carter said. “I was not only the leader of our nation, but I was also the leader of the Democratic Party. And I think I failed in that respect to keep the party united.”

I was about 7 and I remember the gas shortages too. We could only buy gas on the odd/even day that matched our license plate. Jimmy you were and continue to be a miserable failure every time you open your mouth! Especially as it relates to Isreal!!!!!!!!!!

Announcing, The Worst President In The World!

Jimmah, I think losing to Reagan makes you…a failure! Period.

(I’m still fuming after all these years about the give-away or the Panama Canal.)

Will, Jimmah, your biggest failure led to a great American Presidency, that of Ronaldus Maximus Reagan. Hopefully, Obama will match your failure of 1980 and we can look forward to another Presidency like Reagan.

I remember being young kid and my parents were leaving to go vote, this was before I knew what a Dem or Rep was and I told them to vote for Reagan he seemed like the smartest man I had ever heard on T.V. and I lived in California at the time so it was an even bigger deal for me.. of course that’s when I found out my parents were liberal and I have been trying to make up for them ever since.
Reagan was the first president I remember growing up and I even got a picture of him at the White House landing in Marine one.. best shot ever to me… I treasure that pic.

If the plan was to drive the country off a cliff, not getting another four years of Jimmeh’s special brand of malaise was surely a setback

And what a shame the next guy was so hell bent on fixing it

What a delusional old fool. Anyone vaguely tethered to reality with the benefit of hindsight can see that obviously loosing the election was the high point of his presidency, and that in retrospect those hostages were making a profound sacrifice for this country by making Reagan happen.

Hey, Carter was awesome. I gradyiated in ’79. And to my fathers credit, he told me the best thing I could do when I got a job, was to open an IRA. So, I did. Put $2000.00 into CD’s…..whohooo…..15% interest rate for 6 months, then dropping to 12% for 10 years, those things climbed like spiderman on coke, for about 10 years. I put $2000 every year into new ones, and slowly but surely through the Reagan and Bush years the rates changed, and then presto, magico, welcome to the stock market.

I did better in the market, and felt better because I wasn’t porking people with high interest rates. I had a car loan in 82 that started at 18%.

I wish this old goat would die already.

And please, disregard the first four words of my post.

Jimmy repeats more false liberal/commie mythology “Carter lost reelection because of the hostages.”

Yeah, I’m sure the 15% inflation rate, massive unemployment, obscene interest rates, giving away the Panama Canal, and his capitulation to the Soviet bloc had absolutely NOTHING to do with. Yeah…

Listen up shithead; you were doomed from the day you said “I do” when you proceeded to fuck the US with every one of your worthless policies. From your lack of an energy policy to the fact that you laid on your stomach and took it up the ass from every 3rd world shit hole, you sucked!

So get used to the fact you are a loser and die already!

“I guess my biggest failure was not getting reelected,” he said.

I agree with the commenters who thought this had to be a parody. Surely he can’t actually believe his biggest failure was not getting re-elected! This from the prez who presided over 444 days of the hostages.

It’s also amazing how much this sounds like something Obama would say. In fact I fully expect that if Obamus is thrown out after one term he’ll say exactly the same thing. Seems that certain types of pResidents feel we just didn’t appreciate their greatness enough.

A slithering lip-licking snake, who’s daughter was the Reality Show star of the Georgia Chain Saw Massacres. Isn’t there enough money from his monthly Social Security checks to pay for a new set of store-bought chompers?

Wouldn’t it be GREAT if Carter and Helen Thomas both died this Christmas and wound up in hell together taking it up the ass for the rest of Eternity from Khoumeni and Arafat? Bend over Jimmah, Yassah’s coming for ya!

Now THAT’s one Reality Show that I wouldn’t care to watch.
