Red Cross Abandons Afghan Employee After He’s Arrested For Converting to Christianity And Charged With Apostasy…

Sickening…

Washington, D.C. (December 14, 2010) - International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that the Red Cross in Afghanistan (ICRC) has not intervened on behalf of a long-term employee who was arrested and imprisoned because he is Christian. This, despite that the Red Cross mandate includes “visiting prisoners” and “helping victims of conflict and internal violence, whoever they are.”

Sayed Mossa worked 15 years in ICRC’s orthopedic department in Kabul assisting amputees. In late May, footage of Muslim converts to Christianity being baptized was aired in Afghanistan. The broadcast triggered nationwide protests and a government-led crackdown against Christians. On May 31, being a Muslim convert to Christianity, Mossa was arrested by security officers working with the Ministry of Interior.

Aid workers in Kabul immediately contacted the Red Cross after hearing of the arrest. “The Protection office told us that Mossa will be visited like the others and that we must not interfere with their job. We are not his family and they will not tell us anything. We told them that he has been sexually abused and his condition has deteriorated badly, but nothing could move them,” said a friend of Mossa’s who inquired about his safety. When Mossa’s wife asked for help, the Red Cross paid her Mossa’s salary, but reportedly said they would not intervene to liberate her husband. It was two months before Mossa’s wife had heard where he was being held. She was not notified by the Red Cross, but by a released prisoner who had served time with Mossa.

In a final meeting with Reto Stocker, head of the Red Cross in Kabul, Mossa’s friends were again told that ICRC is neutral and would not intervene. They were also asked to not make the case public.

In another breach of the Red Cross’ mission, they refused to deliver hundreds of letters addressed to Mossa. Westerners organized the letter-writing campaign to both encourage the Christian and to publicly display the international community’s concern over his plight. “They won’t deliver the letters to Sayed. The Red Cross does not have the right to keep the letters from him. It’s their responsibility to ensure he receives letters written to him via the Red Cross address,” said an aid worker in Kabul who helped organize the campaign.

But we better stop disrespecting Muslims because their faith is one of peace and modern values and tolerance for all beliefs.

    Right.

I have been told by many service members that the Red Cross is a phony
orginization. Do not donate to it! They used to charge GIs for services they received from them.

The Red Cross is about as helpful as tits on a bull.

Tanya is correct and the stories go back as far as I can remember, because I heard them from my parents in the 1950′s.

Why is it that seemingly the only sympathetic individuals in the Middle East for this blog are converted Christians?

The Red Cross is no friend as far as I’m concerned…never has been as long as I can remember.

Salvation Army is the only Org. I give what I can one way or the other over the years.

Thank God I see some already know. Don’t trust the RC!! And also, remember how they behaved with the money donated right after 911. They have been overrun by leftists and they do nothing to help our servicemen or christians for that matter.

    OK, lets clear something up.

The International Federation of Red Crescent, er, I mean Cross (same damn thing) is entirely separate from the US based Red Cross, as per my sister (and link below), who works for the Red Cross in the US.

The key phrase in the name is “international”. Kinda like “united nations”. When you throw “international” and “united” into the name, you know shit just ain’t right.

Let’s not cast aspersions where they do not belong.

Heres a link. Make up your own mind.

Give blood to the Red Cross whenever you can.

    A Red Cross “war story”:
When I was in Vietnam, a soldier buddy’s father died. He got emergency leave, but needed some money for stateside transportation. He went to the Red Cross, and was blown off. About 2 hours later, a Salvation Army guy showed up at the squadron, and gave him $500 cash. No strings, No nothing. Just told him to get home for his father’s funeral.
From that moment, I DESPISED the Red Cross, but I contribute to the Sally every year. They still take care of the troops.

Thanks for your service and sorry about your buddy’s problem. Thank God for the SA and the USO, who, I give to throughout the year.

But please, see the difference between the “US” and “international” red cross.

Lake of capitals is for a respect reason.

Might as well change that red cross to a green crescent and be done with it. Samratitan’s Purse does a better job in the places no one else will go. Maybe they should be the new version of the Red Cross.

“Why is it that seemingly the only sympathetic individuals in the Middle East for this blog are converted Christians”

The apostates in Islam also link to this blog. And most of them are atheists.
Your premise is faulty. Buy a clue Alex.

    Mr. Mossa,

    You are in my prayers.

    And to the ‘i’rc,

What did you do with money? How much money did you get for the tsunami? How much money came from private citizens and went directly to those in need? Remember, that which you do for the least of my children, so also, you do unto me.

Jean sez: “Guyssss get ur facts right! The ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) is he one in Afghanistan and FYI the do not have the right to ask for anyone’s release.”

Yep….and since they (the ICRC) have no rights to stand up for their 15 year employee who works with children with legs and arms blown off by Muslims explosions and a 15 year employee who is being abused in many ways in a prison and cut off from the rest of the world simply because he is a Christian….they (the ICRC) are a worthless organization. And just why don’t they have any rights to demand their employees release? Are they terrified that that the Muslims will come after them if they do?…Why don’t they have any legal rights…oh wait…the Employee is a Christian in a Muslim country….He is lucky to have lived this long..

Jean apparently agrees with the Muslims authority to unjustly arrest Christians and imprison them and torture them…Apparently Jean feels no compassion for the injustice the Christians endure in a Muslim country…

I have sent a letter of protest to the Afghan embassy in Washington D.C.,,, maybe Jean can do the same…

The President of the Salvation Army makes 11.000 a year and has his expense paid too and one home to live in while working. But not like the Red Cross… The still have millions of dollars from 911 they have not given out and the story is it may go to the Victory Mosque at Ground Zero.

I’ve heard stories from uncles, brothers, and cousins all the way back to WWll about them charging for things that were donated – including cigarettes the tobacco companies gave them to distribute. I think it’s time they removed the red cross from their loggo. I’ve read where they’ve refused admittance for the Magen David in Israel, but do acknowledge the Red Crescent?

They did nothing to gain respect during Katrina either.

It’s sad and ironic, because the Red Cross was founded by a faithful Christian man, Jean Henri Dunant. It started out as a good organization but it degenerated because the anti-Christian phenomenon in the culture of our society influenced it, and some of the left wingers infiltrated it. Along with Livingstone and Wilberforce, Dunant was one of many Christians who did significant things in the area of social reform. Wilberforce and Livingstone were also devout Protestant Christians and they fought to influence public opinion against slavery.

The same thing with the IRC being biased against Christian people happened in Sudan. Peter Hammond, a South African missionary and author of several books, reported that he was stopped by an aggressive woman who was the IRC director overseeing a hospital in southern Sudan, when he tried to visit some of the patients and give them Bibles in their own language. The people in the hospital were Christian people refugees from the war zone. It’s hypocritical, worse than hypocritical. Hammond’s link http://www.frontline.org.za.
