Republican Congressmen Vow to Quash Net Neutrality…

Should be a no-brainer…

(Daily Caller)- In the wake of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) passing of a net neutrality plan, some Congressmen are already planning how to fight back. For some, that means the 1996 Congressional Review Act (CRA).

Michigan Republican Rep. Fred Upton, the incoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Oregon Republican Rep. Greg Walden and Nebraska Republican Rep. Lee Terry have pledged to use that law to fight the FCC’s new regulations.

The CRA gives Congress the authority to review federal agency regulations, and repeal them if necessary with a joint resolution.

“The FCC’s hostile actions toward innovation, investment and job creation cannot be allowed to stand,” said Upton in a statement. “Today’s vote is a sad commentary that this administration and the FCC continue to ignore the will of the American people – our new majority is committed to protecting personal liberty and reducing the size and scope of the government.”

Upton went on to say that while the FCC may claim broad industry support for net neutrality, that support is really just “’cries of ‘uncle’ resulting from threats of even more onerous regulation.”

While promising to use the CRA to fight the FCC’s plan, Walden released a statement saying, “If left unchallenged, this power grab will allow the Commission to regulate any interstate wired or wireless communication on barely more than a whim.”

“The FCC has irresponsibly decided to pursue a course unauthorized and opposed by most members of Congress,” added Terry. “This is just more big government intervention in the marketplace to try and fix something that isn’t broken.”

Just heard a floor speech in the Senate from K. Hutchinson regarding this as well, they’ve go plans, even though we don’t control the Senate, this may very well draw enough dems to work for whatever comes to the Senate to pass it..especially with more dems vulnerable in ’12.

    The fight is on.

Do you guys realize that in the space of a few days, Republicans sold us out on the tax deal, Michelle Obama’s food grab, and the START treaty?

No doubt by next year all blogs will be heavily regulated, no news about islamic problems … and they are going to find a way to shove carbon taxes on us as well as taxes to the UN. We are so fucking doomed. The globalists have pretty much succeeded. Up until obama was elected I thought all the conspiracy theories were possible, but not likely. Evil smart people running things now. No where to escape that I know of.

    Iron Maiden,
Well i have to agree with you, one of my Senators voted for this
obnoxious Stop Start treaty….But before we say or do to much,
lets see what proceeds in January from the Repub’s as they get
down to the brass tacts and show or display the cajones we expect
from them……Repeal, repeal, defund and just throw the Sh#t out….

    Iron Maiden is so righton!

I have been railing alot against the lack of GOP action! I don’t feel they really got the message! I think they are operating from the mind set of hooray for me, and fuck you! The way I see things, if the GOP can’t deal with these progressive commie policies, we only have one other option!

The tax deal was fine. Not ideal, but fine. DADT is where we were sold out.

I really think, since we were facing with the Omnibus and the nightmare DREAM Act, the country dodged the biggest bullets of the lamest lame duck of the worst Congress in history.

Sorry, D. Taggart, I repectfully disagree!

Unfunded unemployment benfits what seems like forever! As a small business owner who pays into the system but can never apply for any benfits inspite of a very shitty economy, this seems very wrong to me on multiple levels.

The inheritence tax should be zero. I could tell you multiple horrors stories of how small busines, farmers, ranchers and there heirs have been DEVASTATED by the government grab of there assets. Did you know that if you can’t pay the emposed taxes set, you have to put the assets up for sale and if they do not sell in a year the government leins the heirs and starts coming after them! As an FYI, the number #1 “bottom feeder” in the USA who rides in on his black horse with government connections to save the day (for himself and government),but not the heirs is barry’s old buddy Warren Buffet!

I do agree with your comments on DADT!

I also agree with you on the DREAM act, but feel barry will use his excutive decrees to go around that issue. It’s the largest block of untapped voters for his 2012 run!

    Merry Christmas Mr. D. Taggert!

    This is our official submission:

“We the People” do not want “net neutrality”!
The internet is the only place where all may express their views without censorship. If someone does not like what the author has written they can leave that site and find one that espouses their views. For the government or a government appointed agency to impose or restrict open dialogue and/or free speech is a direct violation or our 1st Amendment rights.

Please remember that our Creator gives us rights and we “ENTRUST” some of these rights to the government to preserve; NOT remove. Free Speech is a natural right but access to the internet is NOT A NATURAL RIGHT, Civil or otherwise. Access to the internet may be obtained in our RIGHT TO PURSUE HAPPINESS, but it is NOT a guaranteed right.

Commissioner Copps has stated in an interview to the BBC that America” is not producing as much news” and “there is no oversight of the media”; oh, and perhaps there should be a “public value test”.

    HOW DARE YOU!

If We the People do not like what is being said we will change the channel or the station. If there are fewer viewers or listeners then they (the stations) will go out of business. That is the way the free market works!

In his latest rant Rev. Al Sharpton wants the FCC to take Rush Limbaugh off the public airwaves because he (Sharpton) is offended by what Rush says. If Mr. Sharpton is offended, then he too can change the channel or station.

Any action by the FCC to infringe on our 1st Amendment rights is mirroring dictatorial actions imposed by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela!

    Sincerely,
The members of the Rowlett Texas TEA Party

    CC: Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison
    Senator John Cornyn
    Representatives Ralph Hall
    Sam Johnson
    Jeb Hensarling

    “Michigan Republican Rep. Fred Upton”

Upton is the author of the twirly lightbulb law. I wouldn’t trust this prick as far as I could throw him.

#1, a freaking yankee. (Clarification: My definition of a yankee is someone from East of the Mississippi River and North of the Mason-Dixon line. A “Damn Yankee, is from the Northeast states).

My guess, he is up for re-election in ’12 and is padding his resume for his run. Oh, look, over there, I helped with net neutrality, don’t look over there, nothing to see there!!
