Article: If Christians Were Treated Like Muslims in America…
Good read…
(Human Events)- Few Americans would deny that Judeo-Christian beliefs and values informed the Founding of this country and that they continue to shape much of American life today. Nor would many of us deny that Americans who embrace Islamic values are a distinct minority here.
I raise these two facts because of an emerging reality: that, in a variety of contexts, American Muslims are treated better than American Christians. That might seem like a bizarre assertion, so think about it in another way: What if the Christians were treated like Muslims in America, and Muslims like Christians?
If Muslims were treated like Christians in America, Muslims would have to tolerate the defamation of their holiest images in our national museums, acts which would be called “artwork” — and, if particularly provocative, even given taxpayer-funded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. They would also have to accept Korans being burned and thrown into toilets, which instead of inciting worldwide outrage and retribution would provoke a collective shrug of the shoulders.
If Muslims were treated like Christians, Muslims would be mocked by late night TV talk show hosts and lampooned in crude cartoon parodies. If Christians were treated like Muslims, conspicuous Christianity would be celebrated by our elites as a sign of our diversity and open-mindedness, not disparaged as an embarrassment, a nuisance and a breach of the law.
If Christianity were treated like Islam, our students would be taught a white-washed version of Christian history, with the troubling bits miscast or omitted from textbooks and lesson plans.
If Christianity were treated like Islam in America, our president, a professed Christian, would proudly attend Christian-themed dinners and events while skipping Ramadan dinners, not vice versa. And Muslim politicians would go out of their way to assure people that their faith would not affect their policy-making.
If Christianity were treated like Islam, Christmas and Easter would be publicly celebrated for what they are — the signature events of Christianity, marking the birth and the death and Resurrection of Christ — not stripped of all their theological meaning and transformed into secular holidays devoted to crass consumerism.
If Christians were treated like Muslims, NASA would be tasked with reaching out to Christians and recognizing their faith’s profound achievements and contributions to science, math and engineering, instead of being told to make Muslims feel good about their rather meager scientific accomplishments.

That’s the way things should be.
Someone is finally catching on.
How long before our political leadership (aside from Peter King and a few others) get the fucking message?????
Never!
There’s too much MONEY to be made pandering to the oil-rich rag-heads and their bloody culture. But you can only spend it if you are ALIVE!
Not a guarantee if you tolerate muzzies.
From the perspective of this non-believer, both belief systems are equally misinformed and deserve the same amount of ridicule. I wore a shirt with a pig on it when I made an office visit to my Muslim Arabic professor once, and she didn’t bat an eye (read: she also doesn’t wear the hijab). And I ate the communion wafer at Catholic service several times despite not accepting the body of Jesus Christ into my soul.
But Islam is by far the bloodier of the two. That Christians “turn the other cheek” at all renders them much more pleasant neighbors in my book.

This is what passes for spiritual insight and/or wisdom on your part?
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
Isaiah 5:20
Good Article! IMO, the reason it is becoming more difficult to be tolerant of the glaring differences in treatment and respect for these two religious ideologies is that, by nature in today’s world, most Christian religions accept free-will, inside and outside of their religious views–ie., if you profess to be a Christian, you should try to accept and abide by the Doctrine so prescribed. If you choose to believe something different, that is your choice; don’t get in my face, and I won’t get in yours, or–TO EACH HIS OWN! Changing religions, inter-marriage, etc., NO LIFE OR DEATH ISSUE! In an entirely different concept of religion– and I do not claim to be an expert on any of this, just my overall observations–ISLAM gives you No personal choice, or, at the very least, minimal control to make choices. There is a very thin line between life and death, in your effort to abide by every single little detail, and many times you will be judged by MAN-literally-and may lose your life in the most brutal of ways, for someone’s perception of an infraction. It seems difficult to find any common ground on the vast majority of issues from a conceptual standpoint, especially regarding the value and sanctity of life, and it’s purpose. Again, I am not preaching or claiming any expertise, this is just how I few the ongoing struggle we are experiencing.
@Desperado That my friend is the definition of Islamofacism. Totalitarian ideology.
The REAL Bob:
In a phrase, a heightened understanding of the way the world works. Scientists are my prophets, which includes your typical hard scientists like Einstein, Galileo, and Darwin but also includes valuable moral teachers like Jesus, Gandhi, and the Buddha. Like all good science, good moral lessons should be equally applicable to all of humanity. One of the best examples of this would be the Golden Rule.
This is why I reject the cruelty of Mohammed’s violently exclusive cult as well as the wanton havoc wreaked by the God of the Old Testament. Both of these moral “lessons” regard the value of certain human lives better than others by purely arbitrary means, rather than judging the worth of individual actors by their behaviors.
May I suggest you read The Autobiography of a Yogi because if you want true insight into scripture and the lives of these avatars, and combine it with “hard science”, you will get the insight you purport to have already.
With all of these things in mind, does anyone have an opinion on what the actual definition of “RELIGION” is, or should be, as it pertains to religious freedom rights and protections?
When does the ideology of a religion and a way of life cross the line of acceptable?
When is it acceptable to reject the intrusive nature of a religion or way of life that, in many ways espouses beliefs and practices that run so counter to the “NORM”, that it threatens the safety, security and well being of civilized nations?
I am beginning to wonder who will have the final say in this country, as far as when a Religion no longer complies with the accepted definition, and crosses over into Totalitarian Ideological Practice?

Here is a clue to the biggest paradox that Christianity presents to mankind…
God is Holy (perfect). He cannot abide by or be in the company of the unholy (flawed). We were made perfect and fell from that perfection. How does God reconcile with his now flawed creation? By imputing the perfection of another (The Christ) to us and graciously perfecting us. This though does not come to completion in our earthly life.
This is not science or philosophy. These disciplines cannot comprehend the truth of God, only the limited truths revealed by God that we can handle.
Science and all man’s endeavors help us to see our world (not the same as God’s world) They cannot view or discern God’s existence. There is not conflict unless one wishes to claim equality with God. Lacking equality with God we are supplied faith so his gracious promises (not arbitrary) are ours to keep.
To suggest that what God has done or is doing or will do is arbitrary is to limit a limitless God. This is to apply mans limits (the clay) on God (the potter).
Who are we to judge God?
The god of mohammedism is not the God of the Christian. Their god is a man made construct to rule men’s lives not to bring God’s gift to man. This whole cult system is based on what mankind thinks a god is not the revelation from God that shows who He is. That is the telling conviction of their ways.
@ajm-
You missed the point.
Try again.
“…as well as the wanton havoc wreaked by the God of the Old Testament.”
I always get a chuckle out of this, because it is sure ignorance & lack of knowledge of the Bible simply says. God in the old testament didn’t just strike down everything & everybody without mercy…it’s just when there wasn’t repentance or a intercessor found on behalf of wickedness, God had no choice but to deal with it promptly. The simple difference between the old and new is there is a new covenant based upon better promises that is presently allowing a “age of grace” for the repentance from disobedience…without immediate judgment being dispensed. If you think God has changed and gone soft on wickedness, I’ll kindly refer you to the book of Revelation.
Do not take God’s present inaction for no action. It’s called long suffering tempered by mercy & grace…willing that non should perish but willing that all should repent. But don’t fool yourself, the days of reckoning are coming.
Thanks for finding this article and I hope you don’t mind that it is now on my site (with the applicable hat tips of course). This point of view on the disparages between the treatment of the religion of the MAJORITY of Americans vs. Islam NEEDS to get out there, and this condensed form allows for that.
Cheers to you guys and keep up the good work!
