Bum Rush: Twenty-five Democratic State Legislators Defect to GOP…

Welcome to the dark side, be prepared to be called a racist every time you oppose Obama…

(Washington Examiner)- GOPAC chairman Frank Donatelli just sent out a press release crowing that 25 Democratic legislators have now switched parties and become Republican.

“We are pleased with the decision of these men and women to leave the Democratic Party and join with us. They are adding to the ranks of Americans who want to put result-oriented ideas into action to get us moving in the right direction. Each of these legislators’ insight, experience, and commitment to common-sense, conservative policies will make our Party stronger,” Donatelli said.

Note that when Lousiana’s Representative Noble Ellington switched parties a short time ago it actually gave Republicans control of the state legislature for the first time since the Reconstruction. Here’s the full list of legislators that have switched:

Ivory Coast President Refuses to Take Phone Call From Chicago Jesus…

Blasphemy!

(Telegraph)- The incumbent president of Ivory Coast is hardening his resistance to international pressure to stand down, even refusing to take a phone call from Barack Obama.

Laurent Gbagbo, who is widely viewed as having lost a recent election, is refusing to leave office despite attempts to persuade him from West African leaders and others in the broader international community.

Lanny J Davis, a lawyer who used to work for Bill Clinton, has resigned from his job advising Mr Gbagbo, claiming that the president had stopped taking his calls, and refused one from the US president.

Mr Davis said he had repeatedly tried to set up a phone conversation between Mr Gbagbo and Mr Obama which would have given the Ivorian “options for a peaceful resolution, that would avoid further bloodshed and be in the best interests of his country”.

Jesse Jackson Asks Bill Clinton to Call off Campaigning For Rahm Emanuel Because His Opponent is Black…

Doesn’t want Clinton to “offend” his black supporters by supporting Emanuel…

Affirmative action political campaigning…

CHICAGO — The two most prominent black candidates for mayor of Chicago met Thursday night to examine the state of their respective campaigns against the presumed front runner, Rahm Emanuel.

Congressman Danny Davis and Carol Moseley Braun talked on Christmas Eve and again Wednesday night.

Rev. Jesse Jackson was there, too. Jackson tells WGN-TV, there must eventually be just a single black candidate who appeals to voters of all races if there is to be any hope of electing a black mayor.

Jackson says Rahm Emanuel’s candidacy will be well-funded; but he says, mayor Harold Washington proved that a candidate with a positive message can beat one with money.

Jackson also called upon former President Bill Clinton to reconsider his decision to visit Chicago and campaign for Emanuel next month.

Jackson says African-Americans and Hispanics were among Clinton’s biggest supporters; and he says, rather than offend his most loyal friends, Clinton should call off his campaign trip.

Katie Couric: “We Need a Muslim Version of The Cosby Show” to Change Americans Attitudes Towards Islam…

Wow, I can’t believe nobody thought of this earlier . . . probably because it’s insanely stupid…

Katie Couric: 2010 in Review — CBS News

I also think sort of the chasm, between, or the bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn’t enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong — and so disappointing.

Maybe we need a Muslim version of The Cosby Show.

I know that sounds crazy, I know that sounds crazy. But The Cosby Show did so much to change attitudes about African-Americans in this country, and I think sometimes people are afraid of what they don’t understand…

Video: Black Supremacists Spew Racism at the “White Man” on Christmas Eve in Oklahoma City…

Jeremiah Wright seen nodding in approval…

YouTube description:

Evil racism was on display at the Oklahoma City metro bus terminal downtown on Christmas Eve, 2010. Watch as this group of young men work to teach bus riders about God and race.

When asked about their organization, and whether they have a pamphlet or contact information, the response was quick and threatening: “I don’t have nothing for you, white man.”

Let me be clear: they have the right to say these things in a public place, and I support that right fully. This is not documentation of an illegal act that should be regulated by government.

This is a matter to be discussed in churches and workplaces across our city. It must be a conversation about whether racism still exists in our modern world, and whether we understand it when we see it with our own eyes.

Who will condemn this for the racism that it is? Who will not call this racist?

Some of the greatest hits from this video:

“God hates Christmas.”

“The white man has set up laws where the faggots and lesbians have rights, and parades.”

“The white man is against nature, and we prove that out of scripture.”

“The white man is in power now because he is a thief and a murderer.”

“God hates America, and he will destroy it.”

“The white man has never taught you about God. He lied, and told you he was God.”

These are members of a local church, the Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ, located at 3005 N. Classen Blvd

WaPo Op-Ed: ROTC on College Campuses “Taint The Intellectual Purity of a School”… Writer Says He “Admires Those Who Join the Taliban”

The left in a nutshell…

‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ has been repealed. ROTC still shouldn’t be on campus – WaPo

Now that asking and telling has ceased to be problematic in military circles, ROTC has resurfaced as a national issue: Will universities such as Harvard, Yale and other Ivy League schools be opened to Reserve Officers’ Training Corps since colleges can no longer can argue that the military is biased against gays and therefore not welcome? . . .

Will the Ivies have the courage for such stands? I’m doubtful. Only one of the eight Ivy League schools — Cornell — offers a degree in peace studies. Their pride in running programs in women’s studies, black studies, and gay and lesbian studies is well-founded, but schools have small claims to greatness so long as the study of peace is not equal to the other departments when it comes to size and funding.

At Notre Dame, on that 1989 visit and several following, I learned that the ROTC academics were laughably weak. They were softie courses. The many students I interviewed were candid about their reasons for signing up: free tuition and monthly stipends, plus the guarantee of a job in the military after college. With some exceptions, they were mainly from families that couldn’t afford ever-rising college tabs.

To oppose ROTC, as I have since my college days in the 1960s, when my school enticed too many of my classmates into joining, is not to be anti-soldier. I admire those who join armies, whether America’s or the Taliban’s: for their discipline, for their loyalty to their buddies and to their principles, for their sacrifices to be away from home. In recent years, I’ve had several Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans in my college classes. If only the peace movement were as populated by people of such resolve and daring.

ROTC and its warrior ethic taint the intellectual purity of a school, if by purity we mean trying to rise above the foul idea that nations can kill and destroy their way to peace. If a school such as Harvard does sell out to the military, let it at least be honest and add a sign at its Cambridge front portal: Harvard, a Pentagon Annex.

GOP Rep. Peter King Blasts Obama’s Recess Appointment of James Cole to Deputy Attorney General: “He Treats Islamic Terror as a Criminal Matter”

Peter King is the man…

(The Hill)- Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the incoming chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, has angrily denounced President Obama’s recess appointment of James Cole as deputy attorney general.

King called Cole’s appointment “absolutely shocking” and said it may be one of the worst appointments Obama will make during his presidency.

“I strongly oppose the recess appointment of James Cole to lead the national security team at the Department of Justice.,” King said in a statement. “The appointment indicates that the Obama Administration continues to try to implement its dangerous policies of treating Islamic terrorism as a criminal matter.”

The harsh words demonstrate the deep divisions that exist between some of the president’s policies and Republican positions on terrorism issues and serve as a harbinger for the inevitable clashes to come between the GOP chairmen of key national security committees and the administration.

Cole has advocated for the use of civilian trials in prosecuting terrorism suspects, and King views the appointment as a sign of the administration’s intent to continue to try detainees through the criminal justice system rather than military tribunals as most Republicans prefer.

Cole’s appointment is exactly the wrong message to be sending to U.S. citizens, King said, especially after the public pushback on Obama’s attempts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison facility in Cuba. During the lameduck session, Congress attached language to the $1.1 trillion spending resolution to keep the government funded next year that would prevent Obama from spending any funds to try terrorism suspects in civilian court instead of military commission.

Rasmussen Poll: Ground Zero Mosque Most Followed Story of 2010…

But..but..but it’s not a mosque, it’s an “Islamic cultural center”…

(Rasmussen)- American Adults shared two of the chief concerns of Likely Voters in 2010, the Gulf oil leak’s impact on the economy and plans for a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City.

Rasmussen Reports conducts two separate national tracking surveys, one of both Adults and one of Likely Voters. The latter are generally surveyed on political issues in the news, while adults are asked more often about timely economic and social issues. After all, if it’s in the news, it’s in our polls.

In both tracking polls, we ask respondents how closely they have followed recent news stories about the topic we’re asking about – Very Closely, Somewhat Closely, Not Very Closely, Not At All Closely, Not Sure.

The story most closely followed by all Adults last year in Rasmussen Reports economic surveys was about plans to build a mosque near the site of the World Trade Center. In mid-August, 58% were following that story Very Closely, with another 27% following somewhat closely. This story attracted little attention until President Obama commented upon it and made it a national issue.

But four of the stories in the Top 10 economic surveys for the year, including #2, 3 and 4, were about the disastrous oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico caused by the April 20 explosion of a deepwater drilling platform.

By mid-June, 54% were following stories about the oil leak Very Closely. Over the next month, similar majorities continued to monitor developments in that story as possible UN involvement with the cleanup was considered and as the impact on the overall U.S. economy became clearer.

NYC Union Bosses Intentionally Slowed Blizzard Cleanup to Protest Budget Cuts…

Reason #459,097,987 unions have no place in 21st century America…

(NY Post)- These garbage men really stink.

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts — a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

Miles of roads stretching from as north as Whitestone, Queens, to the south shore of Staten Island still remained treacherously unplowed last night because of the shameless job action, several sources and a city lawmaker said, which was over a raft of demotions, attrition and budget cuts.

“They sent a message to the rest of the city that these particular labor issues are more important,” said City Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Queens), who was visited yesterday by a group of guilt-ridden sanitation workers who confessed the shameless plot.

Halloran said he met with three plow workers from the Sanitation Department — and two Department of Transportation supervisors who were on loan — at his office after he was flooded with irate calls from constituents.

The snitches “didn’t want to be identified because they were afraid of retaliation,” Halloran said. “They were told [by supervisors] to take off routes [and] not do the plowing of some of the major arteries in a timely manner. They were told to make the mayor pay for the layoffs, the reductions in rank for the supervisors, shrinking the rolls of the rank-and-file.”

NY Times Editors Ambush Israeli Diplomats, “Accused us of Being an Extremist and Racist State,” Outraged Over “Ill-Treatment” of Obama…

Certainly no surprise, the NYT is the mouthpiece of the Obama regime…

(Israel Today)- The New York Times, flagship of the liberal American media, has never been a friend of the Jewish state. But the newspaper’s aversion to Israel turned to open hostility this month when its top editors ambushed and tore into an unsuspecting senior official from the Israeli Consulate in New York City.

The Israeli official was invited by the Times editors, among them rabid columnist Thomas Friedman, to meet with them at their office. Being a veteran at dealing with the American media, the official assumed the invitation was for a friendly discussion and perhaps an interview regarding the peace process and other matters of importance to Israel.

The Israeli had no idea he was being invited for what he described as a lynch.

As the meeting started, the Times editors – most of them Jews, and one of them a former Israeli – began to attack the Israeli diplomat, and refused to give him even a moment to respond.

They blamed Israel for everything, the diplomat told Israel Today.

The Times editors insisted the breakdown of the peace process was Israel’s fault, that the lack of peace was Israel’s fault, and were adamant that Israel had given nothing to the Palestinians. They accused Israel of being an extremist and racist state, and blasted the diplomat for Israel’s “ill-treatment” of President Barack Obama.

In short, the Times staff informed the Israeli in no uncertain terms that they were sick of his country.

The diplomat told us he was shocked by the attack. He tried to respond, but the Times editors were not interested in hearing his arguments.

“I asked them,” said the diplomat, “We haven’t given the Palestinians anything? How can you say that? Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broke with his party platform and implemented a 10-month Jewish building freeze, and what did we get in return? More Palestinian refusal to negotiate.”

According to the Israeli, the Times editors responded: “Yes, yes. Of course you are going to start telling us about how Israel’s security needs are not being met. You just don’t get it that we are sick of hearing about that.”

There is little doubt that this ambush was led by Friedman, whose hostility toward Israel in his recent columns has surprised even his liberal friends in the Jewish state.

In recent articles, Friedman has accused Israel of being a spoiled child, crazy and extremist. He insisted that the US stop being Israel’s “enabler,” and pointed out that the rest of the world is fully on the side of the Palestinians, so why not America?

Obama Uses Recess Appointment to Reward Murderous Syrian Regime With Ambassador For First Time in 5 Years…

Syria has done nothing but continue to threaten Israel, arm Hezbollah and act as a rear-base for Iraqi insurgents, but hey, why let that stop Obama from rewarding them with a new ambassador?…

Washington (AP) – President Barack Obama has bypassed the Senate and directly appointed four new U.S. ambassadors whose nominations had been stalled or blocked by lawmakers for months.

The White House announced Wednesday that Obama would use his power to make recess appointments to fill envoy posts to Azerbaijan, Syria and NATO allies Turkey and the Czech Republic. Recess appointments are made when the Senate is not in session and last only until the end of the next session of Congress. They are frequently used when Senate confirmation is not possible.

Specific senators had blocked or refused to consider the confirmations of the nominees for various reasons, including questions about their qualifications. But in the most high-profile case, that of the new envoy to Syria, Robert Ford, a number of senators objected because they believed sending an ambassador to the country would reward it for bad behavior.

“Making underserved concessions to Syria tells the regime in Damascus that it can continue to pursue its dangerous agenda and not face any consequences from the U.S.,” Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the incoming chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a statement. “That is the wrong message to be sending to a regime which continues to harm and threaten U.S. interests and those of such critical allies as Israel.”

Flashback 2000: ClimateGate Researchers Told us “Snowfalls Will Become a Very Rare And Exciting Event”

But don’t worry, they’re totally right this time…

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past — The Independent, March 2000

Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters — which scientists are attributing to global climate change — produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries. . . .

Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community. Average temperatures in Britain were nearly 0.6°C higher in the Nineties than in 1960-90, and it is estimated that they will increase by 0.2C every decade over the coming century. Eight of the 10 hottest years on record occurred in the Nineties.

However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.

“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.

PMSNBC Host Asks Why Tucker Carlson Isn’t Calling For Palin’s Execution…

Unbelievable…

(Mediaite) – We’re officially in the eye of the least newsy week of the year, and in this desert of eventfulness, one lucky talking head struck gold.

Tucker Carlson called for football player Michael Vick to be executed, and people cared.

In fact, Carlson seems to have started a trend of promoting execution of those who mistreat animals, as now MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur would like one prominent Alaskan huntress to pay her debts to society for killing caribou.

After showing the clip of Carlson reprimanding Vick on the Ed Show’s regular “Psycho Talk” segment and giving him a textbook lashing on capital punishment from the christian standpoint– “Would Jesus have called for retribution in blood?”– Uygur called Carlson out for hypocrisy, noting that what Vick did was a horrible thing, but that he paid his dues, and at some point should be allowed a second chance.

Then he showed a clip of what he appeared to want to convey to the audience was a similar instance of animal abuse that had not gone similarly punished: Sarah Palin hunting Caribou on her TLC reality show.

Russia: Wahhabis Cleanse Moderate Clerics From North Caucasus — 50 Killed so far…

From Saudi Arabia with love…

Moscow, December 29, Interfax – Renowned islamologist Roman Silantyev cited statistics according to which about fifty Islamic spiritual leaders were killed in the North Caucuses for fighting against Wahhabism.

“Almost 50 people were killed. These people could have formed a big muftiat,” he said in the The Faith and the World program on the Voice of Russia radio.

According to the islamologist, there are few such people left in Russia: “they are killed almost every month, losses is some muslim boards are irreplaceable, the greater number of people who were able to actively fight against Wahhabism have been killed.”

“Others are demoralized and stopped opposing or just deserted to the enemy. The situation is critical,” Silantyev believes.

PGA Producer’s Dream: Golf as Much as Obama…

For those of you keeping track at home, Obama played his 56th round yesterday…

(Politico 44)- Few seem to begrudge President Obama the occasional golf outing (presidents needs to unwind, right?). But John Kim, a producer for PGA.com (the PGA Tour runs the primary men’s professional golf tours in North America), took to Twitter Tuesday night to ding POTUS for excessive golfing.

In response to learning of Obama’s 50-plus rounds of golf since taking office, Kim wrote, “that’s more than me! But then again, my job is … golf. Wait, that doesn’t seem right.”

And, later: “the old adage is: those who work in golf never get to play. Guess I need to run for President to hit the links!”

Iraq: After Failing on Five Previous Assassination Attempts, al-Qaeda Kills Mosul Police Chief Using Four Suicide Bombers…

Never a shortage of exploding Muslims…

(LWJ)- A team of al Qaeda in Iraq suicide bombers stormed a police headquarters in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul today and killed a senior police officer who has targeted al Qaeda’s top leaders.

Lieutenant Colonel Shamel Ahmed Ugla, the commander of the 1st Emergency Battalion in Mosul, and three other policemen were killed in the early morning attack after three members of a four-man suicide assault team penetrated security by slipping through a gap in the wall of the battalion’s headquarters in Bab Sinjar in western Mosul. Police killed a fourth member of the suicide team before he could enter the police headquarters and detonate his vest.

One or more of the al Qaeda in Iraq suicide bombers, who were dressed in black and armed with assault rifles, detonated their vests after entering Ahmed’s office. The blast leveled much of the building, trapping other policemen in the rubble.

In a statement issued on its website, the Islamic State of Iraq, al Qaeda’s front group, claimed credit for the attack and said it had targeted Ugla five previous times.

“This day was the decisive one,” the terror group said.

Ugla was targeted for his aggressive raids against al Qaeda’s network in Mosul. Ugla was behind the Dec. 21 raid that killed Munadel Salem, al Qaeda’s top leader in the northern city.

Hardest-Working President in American History Extends Hawaiian Vacation Another Day…

Stay away from Washington as long as possible…

HONOLULU (AP) – President Barack Obama is extending his Hawaiian vacation by another day.

The White House says Obama will now depart Hawaii late in the evening on Jan. 3, arriving in Washington the following day.

The Obamas have already pushed back their departure once, changing their return from Jan. 1 to Jan. 2 after the president delayed his arrival in Hawaii to stay in Washington while Congress wrapped up the legislative year.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton says the president is trying to squeeze in more time with his family before returning to the nation’s capital.

Heartache: Moonbat Dem Dennis Kucinich Likely to Lose His House Seat After Redistricting…

What a shame…

(CNN) — The state of Ohio will lose two congressional seats thanks to the latest U.S. Census figures, and liberal stalwart Dennis Kucinich is worried his seat is on the chopping block.

In an e-mail to supporters Wednesday, the seven-term Democratic congressman and two-time presidential candidate says the Republican-controlled Ohio legislature is likely to eliminate his heavily Democratic Cleveland-area district.

But Kucinich says he’s not just going to stand by while that happens.

“I will not wait until a new Ohio map is produced to begin this crucial discussion of the consequences of congressional redistricting,” writes Kucinich. “I will not wait until the Ohio Legislature produces a new map to start thinking of the options. The question will not be: Who is my opponent? The question will be: Where is my district? Seriously.”

He’s also calling on supporters for ideas on how to proceed:

“We are going to have to prepare for a different kind of election, possibly in a different place because my district may be eliminated. We are going to have to organize in a different way, now. The question will remain: Where? This discussion is consequential. Please participate by providing your insight and advice.”
