2006: Obama Strongly Against Raising Debt Ceiling. 2011: Top Economic Advisor Says It Would Be “Insanity” to Oppose it
For once I agree with Obama, sadly it was six years ago.
(NRO) — While President Obama’s economic advisor Austin Goolsbee argued Sunday that a refusal by the Senate to increase the government’s debt ceiling (currently $14.3 trillion) would be “catastrophic” and a sign of “insanity,” that’s not the position the president has held in the past.
Here are Obama’s thoughts on the debt limit in 2006, when he voted against increasing the ceiling:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. . . . Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
In 2007 and in 2008, when the Senate voted to increase the limit by $850 billion and $800 billion respectively, Obama did not bother to vote. (He did vote for TARP, which increased the debt limit by $700 billion.)

You can’t spend money like a drunk sailor without raising the limit. Or is that a drunk Demon-rat?
They’ve maxed-out “the people’s” credit card, and their solution is to raise “the people’s” credit limit.
.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills.”
Gee, I always thought deficit spending was the SIGN the government couldn’t pay it’s bills and not the ability to raise the debt ceiling. Does anyone else think our government is completely insane?
I think the plan is to spend money “like there is no tomorrow.”
I know the answer to this one!

Want to have fun with a tard? Take that quote and tell them Palin said it. Stand back and watch the show.
Fun for all!
The stupid bastard caption should read: “Shit, I have to actually vote, can’t I say present???”!
Obama Refudiated himself
There is no way the Congress will not vote to enlarge the debt ceiling. Why do you think Obama was wining and dinning the Chinese president. The Chinese president was over here in the US so we can beg for a couple of trillion dollars to prop up the government for another year. However we are past the point of ever being able to pay back the loans… I read a bit of scary information on http://www.howlongolord.com/?p… concerning the additions to the healthcare bill of a detainment force to be used in the event of an economic collapse… The establishment of a constabulary force should worry everyone…Also Unified Quest 2011…
