Rest in Peace, Christina Taylor Greene

Heartbreaking and tragic.

(KIDK) — The identity of the nine-year-old tragically killed in Saturday morning’s shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona is Christina Taylor Greene.

Greene is one of six killed in front of a Safeway grocery store while awaiting to talk to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who had set up a townhall-style meet and greet event. Five people died at the scene. Greene died at a local hospital.

Greene’s family says she was vibrant, excited about life, and she was the “best daughter in the world.”

Born September 11, 2001, Greene was excited about the political process, was on the student government, and went to the Giffords event Saturday to learn more about the political process, family members say.

Greene attended Mesa Verde Elementary School. She was the only girl on the Canyon Del Oro baseball team. She loved the sport, as well as horseback riding and swimming. She wanted to be a veterinarian.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this beautiful, young girl.

Update: In addition to Judge John Roll and Christina Taylor Greene, the following individuals were also mortally wounded in today’s senseless shooting. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends as well.

  • Gabe Zimmerman, 30, Giffords’ director of community outreach
  • Dorwin Stoddard, 76, a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ
  • Dorthy Murray, 76
  • Phyllis Scheck, 79

    This is all so horrible.

Why did this nut do this?

    What a beautiful little girl.

    My sympathy to her family.

God bless them and their sweet, innocent daughter.

Thanks for posting this, D-Lo. I have a 5 1/2-year-old so this really hits home.

Prayers and condolences to the family.

So sad the left politicized this tragedy and made it all about Sarah Palin.

God give them strength and whatever else they need.

I can only imagine what Christina’s mom and dad are going through tonight. My heart goes out to them in their profound grief. The loss of a child is the worse pain a person could ever suffer.
I will pray for the Greene family tonight.

My heart goes out to the little girl, her family and friends. She looks like a beautiful little girl and this is such a horrible waste. This is very very sad.

I have a six year old boy, he is sitting right next to me and I can not imagine the pain I would feel if anything like this happened to him. Looking at the girls picture made me very sad, I hope she did not feel any pain and I am sure she is with God at this time.

I hope that law enforcement gets to the bottom of what happened real fast. I want to see anyone involved Pay for this in the most horrible fashion. In the mean time, Liberals can STFU and wait until all the facts come out.

Blaming a member from another political party will not help anything. It will just make people dislike you even more.

    What a waste.

Yes, they’re probably still trying to turn reality into an abstract concept over in lefty loon-town. Instead of looking at the measurable consequences of this, they are desperately trying to explain to themselves how a dead child is something other than a dead child. They are looking for some greater meaning in this. They are looking for political profit.

By doing so, they compound the injury……for all the victims.

  16. snjmom says:

Well, Zip seems to be the first taker on politicizing this poor child’s death. The intended victim is herself on record with her concerns on the heated rhetoric that can’t seem to find common ground.

To lose a child is unimaginable. To lose one to a madmen following the exhortations of media pundits is reprehensible.

  17. Sniffy Pop, Tuna Scented Popcorn says:
    January 9, 2011 at 1:04 am

    @ally

Why are you so angry? What did Zip do?

What I have seen on this page has been an out pouring of sympathy for everyone that has been hurt. I do not care what political party you are from, we should solidify at a time like this and find out how to stop this crap.

I do not want to see another political assassination ever. Being armed with fact and voting is the best solution.

You are correct. The only thing close was 911. Like I said before, stuff like this could spark a revolution.

Seeing this beautiful girl’s picture makes me think that my child would have looked just like her. Been inquisitive. Taken action to help other people, would have been a musician…

God Bless you sweet child. I hope you meet my daughter in Heaven and you two frolic forever in God’s Paradise.

My thoughts and prayers got out to the families of all the victims of this senseless insane, barbaric crime, particularly to the parents and family of Christina Taylor Greene . I have always thought that this country does not do enough to confront the problems of mental health. It’s clear the killer was a nut job and much more could have been done to prevent this senseless act.

Many of those on the left who ran with the story of some right winger, some Tea Party member, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Fox News being the cause of this ought to be ashamed of themselves. The left wing media and many of their bloggers ought to be ashamed of themselves! What a disgrace they are! There is no excuse for this type of behaviour.

This is so horrible, so sad. This life and many others, not just the 6 that died, but, many others were taken to day with the pain and heartache this sick man has caused. This page is to show sarrow, there is no need to curse on here. Not going to point fingers enough people already have. If you disagree with something someone has worte stick your middle finger up in silence at the screen. When the rest of us are wishing for peace and for this beautiful little girl to tell our lost children and souls hello in heaven, we don’t need to hear your arguments. I’ll keep you as well as these victims and their families and friends in my prayers. My daughters are going to be held a little tighter tonight. I have lost a child for reason I will not express I have lost child family members. I cannot even start to want to imagine what these parents are feeling to lose their child in this way. Losing a child is hard enough, but, at the hands of a monster is something all in its own. RIP sweet angel and my your parents be some what comforted knowing you are with God now, where no more pain can touch you! Knowing one of the other victims died saving (covering) his wife shows that love, true love, knows no bonds and gives hope that there is true heros in the world. RIP to all the victims of todays horrible event!

  30. Ideocracy says:

This little girl did not nor did any of the others deserve to die. For those who commented negatively about Zip’s posting and seek to blame Palin or anyone else for this tragedy should consult a professional for treatment.
When this gets sorted out we will see that this individual was not influenced by anyone. Unfortunately the left will do 2 things: First they will say he was insane and secondly they will stand in the way of his execution. Oh of course they will also blame George Bush. Predictable very predictable.

  31. OxyCon says:

Only insanity or pure evil could be what motivates a person to shoot at woman, children, grandmothers and all the other good people who were shot today.

And it was, imo, extremely vile the way so many people on the Left have used this tragedy to attack people whom they have an irrational hatred for.

No one for any reason needs to Die like this. Innocence was lost today.
I hope we as a Nation can heal… Our Political beliefs should not get innocent people killed.

This is a tragedy plain and simple. Some very sick human did a horrific deed.
That he need’s to be punished for. He did it.. It is his to own and not the Right or even the Left, this is his and his alone.

He will have to deal with God one day, I hope very soon.

Zip, I am a conservative, but Sarah Palin’s ad had no business in the political arena, regardless of whether or not this tragedy had happened or not.

I would say the same about that kind of ad using crosshairs no matter what side it came from.

And the fact she finally removed it after this tragedy, after months of ignoring requests for it to be removed is absolute proof she knows that type of ad was wrong.

I don’t blame Sarah for the shooting at all, but that type of talk about reloading and the whole crosshairs thing, it just has no business being done in todays hyper sensitive country. Period.

    RIP Christina
