Harry Reid: “Social Security is Fine,” Crisis Being “Perpetuated by People who Don’t Like Government”…

Even NBC’s normally sympathetic David Gregory can’t believe what he’s hearing from Dingy.

Via HAP:

REID: One of the thing that always troubles me, when we start talking about the debt, the first thing people do is run to social security. Social Security is a program that works and it’s going to be, it’s fully funded for the next 40 years, stop picking on social security. there are a lot of places…

GREGORY: “Senator, you’re really saying the arithmetic on social security works?”

REID: “I’m saying that the arithmetic on Social Security works. I have no doubt it does.

GERGORY: “It’s not in crisis?

REID: “No, this is something that’s perpetuated by people who don’t like government. Social security is fine, are there things we can do to improve social security? Of course, I’m not going to go to backdoor methods to whack social security. I’m not going to do that, we have a lot of things we can do with this debt. But one places I’m not going to be part of picking on is Social Security”

It kills me to think that Sue Lowden or Danny Tarkanian would have beaten that twisted old prune but no we had to have Sharron Angle.

Reid had the big SEIU unions in his hands in Las Vegas that would have trumped any of the Republican candidates. While the rest of the city and state goes broke he caters to the Unions in every way possible.

On Social Security, the way Reid would, and has improved Social Security is by making it available to any and all, including illegal aliens who have hardly paid into the system like I have for over 37 years. It disgusts me to have to wait at a social security office in line while a hundred wet behind the ears people are working to play the way to liberal system for all its worth.

I’ll break it down even more for the Marxist here.

One rich guy + one poor guy= 0

The rich guy will willingly pay for the poor guy who never went to school.

Hasn’t worked a day in his life and deserves to be taken care of cause he is 1 a minority from another country and they don’t expect him to work there,so he doesn’t expect to work here.

2 The guy has a drug problem and came from a broken family who never went to school or held down jobs..

3 That rich bastard is not paying his fair share cause he gots moe monies then we’s do, he cans ford it.

    And for the Marxist here.
Who is going to force this rich person to stay in this country giving all his money away because others don’t want to work nor pay their own way?

The Rich will move elsewhere and the middle class will be stick paying for these losers.

Sharon Angle or not – they still elected this guy? “Fully funded for the next 40 years”? Truly bizarre statement there, Harry.

(BTW – I still believe Angle and crew should have fought back – this election seemed rife with cheating).

Take it easy guys. Arithmetic is obviously not one of Reids strong areas. That doesn’t make him a bad senator.
I’m not saying he’s a good senator, only that his arithmetic problem is not the cause. He’s got numerous other problems, far to numerous to list here…

Really wish the conservatives would figure out if they are going to be able to save the country or not from leftie policies and the secondary coming economic debacle. Makes it really hard to figure out whether to stay here and fight and support them or just bail.

Judging from ya’ll’s comments, what Harry said about “people who don’t like government” is factual then.
It’s hard for folks to understand but, WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT! It’s supposed to be that way but you folks are letting the corporations take it away from you. Better wake up.

So, I guess you are free to believe anything you hear from a politician, but the facts state otherwise. The federal gov’t's 2010 financial statements show that social security is $7.9 trillion underfunded right now, and it has gotten worse every year since 2006. That is on top of our national debt and the other entitlement programs. See for yourself at http://www.gao.gov/financial/fy2010/10stmt.pdf

It is not fully funded — not even close.
