Thanks my man, you nailed it. Any religious context is lost on those apostates. Blood Libel is not anti-Semitic, the commission of Blood Libel is. She is very accurate and very succinct.

Engaging in “blood libel” is, traditionally, antisemitic; it is a term that refers historically to the false accusation that Jews kill children and use their blood for ritual purposes. Blood libels were popular in medieval Europe, but they actually go back to pre-Christian times.

Sarah Palin, however, did not engage in blood libel; rather, she used the term quite properly, if in a somewhat novel manner, by stating that the mainstream media engaged in (and continue, as here, to encourage) the false claim that “right-wing rhetoric” was responsible for the Loughner shooting.

Thus, Palin was being in no way “antisemitic”—that, too, is a media libel, born of the media’s discomfort at being called to account for its earlier lie.

Ridiculous, not only is Palin 100% philosemitic, but that critic obviously doesn’t know what the phrase “blood libel” means!

The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term.

Palin is known to wear the Israeli/American Flags pin on her lapel. Today she only wore the American Flag pin. I imagine she and her confidants knew the Jewish/Christian part of the “blood libel” history, but perhaps wanted to remove any confusion of reproach by not displaying the Israeli Flag in the video.

Can you imagine having to weigh and measure every damn thing you do and say the way this woman must have to? And while the MSM that barks after her can say and do anything they damn well please, even false accusations and vitriol …

Rahm gets to walkback his “good crisis-go-to-waste” philosophy by mumbling through a disclaimer while scowling coldly at the reporter who dared inquire the other day … Obama’s “knife-gun/enemies/get-in-their-face/etc” remarks are shrugged off as the high brow nuances of a brilliant politician … Joe Biden’s remarks are always quickly and closely followed by the MSM’s can of Glade air freshener and a chuckle aimed at a delightful old Uncle you joke should write his own toilet-side book of witty anecdotes.

I used to participate in a Usenet newsgroup. We had one uniting interest and many, many differences in opinion on all subjects. I was one of the few members of the newsgroup who was not pretty far left-wing liberal Democrat. I identified as libertarian, which of course didn’t stop some of the more extreme among the group from tarring me with the “neo-con” moniker when it suited them.

On the evening of September 11, 2001, we gathered together in an IRC chatroom to make sure all our members were accounted for (some lived in NYC), and to process our feelings over the tragedy. After President Bush’s address to the nation, the bashing began. They tore apart everything he said and did, practically down to criticizing the color of his necktie.

Bush-bashing was a favorite sport on the newsgroup anyway, so I finally said to one of the most passionate of these critics, “Is there anything that Bush could say or do that would please you?” He admitted that even if Bush said or did something “right” according to his critics, he personally still could never agree with anything Bush said or did, because he was Bush and in his eyes, that marked him forever as the enemy.

I see the same frothing hatred surrounding Sarah Palin. Although if no matter what she says or does, people are going to hate her, I would think that rather than causing her to have to avoid offending by watching every word or action, it would give her the license to speak truth, no matter what. And I admire that.

MSM: like chickens with their heads cut off…still flapping around, but dead.

good post. Something often lost on liberal progressives is that, no small group of conservatives nowdays were veryliberal/left in the past.

I remember wondering what the heck older people meant likening us (hippies) to communists.. until after I met up with the SDS. (but to be honest, even then it took several years to start dawning on me)

Gotta love these twisted liberals that are Jewish and saying that Palin is anti-semitic. She may be guilty of using language that she was ignorant about…..more than likely she had no idea that the Jewish community may take offense to the term ‘blood libel’ and what it means to the survivors of the Holocaust or family members of those that survived. Israel and the Jewish community would be hard pressed to find anyone that is more sympathetic and understanding of their cause than Sarah Palin.

It is like Rom Emanuel said, you cannot let any crisis pass without making political hay out of it. It is a darn shame that the libs are going to put on the full court press on this and try their hardest to put the gun in the hands of Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, or any other Constitutional conservative.

Even though it has come to light that this murderer has had the congresswoman on his mind for at least two years which pre-dates the Tea Party movement, but lets not let the facts get in the way of some incredible, unfounded stories from the left. MSLSD and people like Chris Matthews are a bunch of good little robots marching straight down the liberal line…as twisted as it may be.
