Vermont: New Democratic Gov. Promises Single-Payer Socialist Healthcare System by 2014…

Land of the moonbats.

Newly-elected Vermont Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin wants to put a state-based single payer system in place by 2014. In an interview with Democracy Now! Shumlin said that the system may, if enacted, use one insurance company to insure all citizens.

Job-killing legislation? Shumlin said that to the contrary, his state would be a magnet for outside companies if employers would not need to provide insurance to their workers.

Shumlin said that the state would need waivers to re-allocate federal dollars to make the program happen.

“I’ve spoken with the president. We work together with our congressional delegation, with Secretary Sebelius” said Shumlin, “what they’re saying is, ‘As long as you’re not lowering standards,’ which we’re not, ‘we want to work with you. We want the states to be laboratories for change.’”

“All we’re asking is that we are able to pool our federal dollars into our existing system here in Vermont in a uniform system. And I think that will appeal, frankly, to more conservative members of the Republican Congress,” Shumlin said.

Rest here>>>

Funny thing…Vermont has the most liberal gun laws in the US. You don’t even have to register a firearm and yet they elect socialists in an election. What a screwey place.

I don’t know much about Vermont…but they don’t seem to be as bankrupt as other moonbat states (as far as I know)? Is that just because nobody lives there or they are just too small to be relevant.

Okay doofus where is the money going to come from for premiums?

    Taxes…. right?

On corporations and individuals …. right?

Right now corporations and individuals contribute directly to insurance premiums.

Now add the layers of bureaucracy needed for your plan. Add that to the premiums already being paid, that will come out of corporate and individual pockets.

Which way is business going to go again?

“All we’re asking is that we are able to pool our federal dollars….”

    ———–

Federal dollars???? If you are ‘self-sufficient’, shouldn’t you also be ‘self-funded’?

The same metaphor also applies to a person’s physical health. A person is said to be “healthy” only when all the breathing and intravenous tubes have been removed, and the patient can perform all vital functions for themselves.

I can see how someone might be confused though. The generous subsidies given to General Motors to sustain the Chevy Volt, are a way to ‘simulate’ real economics. Without those subsidies, no one in their right mind would pay $70,000 for such a small car, which comes much closer to the actual price of the car.

:-( I wish i could start a company and force US tax-payers to cover research and development costs.

I have a better Schmucklin, why don’t you leave the taxpayer’s money from OTHER States alone and pay for your stupid experiments on your own dime. Then see if its self-sustaining. Which, of course, it won’t be. Good luck wit dat.

So they want to take my OK federal dollars, and spend it on health care for their population.

Not going to work dipshit. How about the time you get no federal dollars? What then? According to SJL, you just drop over dead, and we have a new territory to conquer.

Redistribution does not work ahole. Sooner or later, you run out of other peoples money.

  15. inspectorudy says:

Why can’t these dipshits sit down with an insurance company and run the numbers? It will work for a while and then the state will start to fall behind in payments. Then they will ask for the federal Gov. to help out. Then the taxes will go up and then they will have no doctors to provide the services that are needed. And contrary to most liberals assertion, health care is NOT a right. Without the providers how do you claim your right?

I think its great for Vermont to have socialized health care, if it means that the Federal Government gets out of that business and Congress finally respects the Constitution (if they can read it). I really think the Demagogue Party is comprised of retards.
