Cantor Asks Pelosi to Be His Prom Date…Update: Pelosi Says No, Already Has a Date…

Am I the only one who find this “bring a date” to the SOTU address to be extremely irritating?

Hopefully Cantor can restrain her from repeating last year’s jack-in-the-box routine.

(Politico)- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) has invited his Democratic counterpart Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to sit with him at Tuesday’s State of the Union.

Cantor’s office said he made the ask last night. Pelosi’s office didn’t respond to an email asking if the former speaker would cozy up next to Cantor.

The two hardly are pals. Cantor Monday blasted Pelosi for not meeting with Republicans — a contention that the Californian’s office says is not true.

Update: Exactly when did Congress turn into “Saved by The Bell” (with Rep. Anthony Weiner playing Screech)?

(The Hill)- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) invited Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to sit next to him at the State of the Union address — but the former House Speaker says she’s already committed.

“I thank @GOPLeader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. [Roscoe] Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted,” Pelosi tweeted.

The invitation from Cantor was made Monday evening through staffers for the two leaders, spokesman Brad Dayspring said.

Business as usual. At election time the scammy repubs tell an enraged electorate exactly what they want to hear and the result is a resounding victory. Fast forward to January and after they are safely sworn in the repubicans move swiftly back into ruling class mode.

Anyone else out there think that the most dangerous enemy of this country is not Obama or the democrats but the Republicans who are the collaborators who betray this country for personal gain.

Cantor is a moron and who in their right mind would want to sit next some botox bloated old marxist skank. Hell I wouldn’t give up my seat on a crowded bus for this hateful, corrupt cow.

I heard about Cantor doing this early this morning…if Pop-Up-Pelosi agrees to this she will do it to ensure she is seen on camera repeatedly…those on the right falling for this via pressure are nothing but cowards as far as I’m concerned.

I am so sick of the SOTU already don’t know that I’ll even watch it.

Nope, you’re not. Why should we make nice and get along with a bunch of liberal idiots who call us Nazis at every turn? Who blame our side for violence while they spew nonstop hate and lies? Who are busy imposing their unwanted agenda on the American people? Puleeeze!

I never watch the SOTU address, it’s always lame bullshit with little to do with reality. It’s doesn’t matter if the President is a Democrat or Republican. Besides, there’s always something more interesting to watch like one of my DVDs and besides, it will be discussed ad-naseum by the media anyway so you can always catch up later if something important is said. Which rarely happens anyway.

I don’t want to see this puppet show either. What now, is Boehner gonna jump up and down like a jack-in-the box? Bite Me was handed the crank when Pelosi lost her coveted seat behind the Comic In Charge, so will he be leading the jump up and down charge to make Boehner look like an idiot if he doesn’t jump up and down also? Let’s see how Boehner handles the peer pressure. Anyone want to take bets on him following Bite Me’s jack in the box antics? We all know this is a big show and sitting together is now out of respect for Gabby Giffords. How many dems have you heard on the news mentioning her name in prayer or well wishes? None, all I have heard is how they are using her to push or nudge us into their ideology. For instance, this joke of an election….. Kenneth Olbermann running for Joe Liebermann’s Senate Seat. Had not Olbermann jumped on the “Palin shot Giffords” bandwagon, he would have been squashed like a bug.

OK, I wrote this late last night on a bygone thread about this stunt late last night:

I’m for this if one or all 3 of the following happens:

    1) Boehner stands up, lights up and shouts to the assembly, “Smoke`em if ya got`em”, then offers Obama one from his own pack

    2) The GOP removes their suit jackets, shirts and ties to reveal T-shirts with those arrows and “I’m with stupid” pointing to the dem sitting beside him (her) …

    3) Throughout Obama’s speech someone occasionally shouts out, “YOU LIE!” from various seated positions in the room on the left and right, and when the camera pans the gathering the GOP members point to the dem sitting beside him and mouths, “He did it” … Joe Wilson would be wearing a strip of duct tape over his mouth and lifts his hands in the “Wasn’t me” position when the camera found him

Perhaps instead of tomato throwing, they are trying the more effective Dale Carnegie strategy:

    Fundamental Techniques in Handling People
    1. Don’t criticize, condemn, or complain.
    2. Give honest and sincere appreciation.
    3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.

Six Ways to Make People Like You
    1. Become genuinely interested in other people.
    2. Smile.
    3. Remember that a person’s name is, to him or her, the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
    4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
    5. Talk in the terms of the other person’s interest.
    6. Make the other person feel important and do it sincerely.

Twelve Ways to Win People to Your Way of Thinking
    1. Avoid arguments.
    2. Show respect for the other person’s opinions. Never tell someone that he or she is wrong.
    3. If you’re wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
    4. Begin in a friendly way.
    5. Start with questions to which the other person will answer yes.
    6. Let the other person do the talking.
    7. Let the other person feel the idea is his/hers.
    8. Try honestly to see things from the other person’s point of view.
    9. Sympathize with the other person.
    10. Appeal to noble motives.
    11. Dramatize your ideas.
    12. Throw down a challenge; don’t talk negatively when a person is absent; talk only about the positive.

Be a Leader: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment
    1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
    2. Talk about your own mistakes first.
    3. Call attention to other people’s mistakes indirectly.
    4. Ask questions instead of directly giving orders.
    5. Let the other person save face.
    6. Praise every improvement.
    7. Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
    8. Encourage them by making their faults seem easy to correct.
    9. Make the other person happy about doing what you suggest.

The emphatic answser is no way, no how. On a more somber note, I see this as the Pubix seriously misreading the American people and their perceptions both of politicians in general and Republicans in particular.

The Pubix majority in the house (still now earned a capital “H”) voted them into office to clean house and clean up the house, then the government. They were elected to be the “anti-obama” to fight the “anti-American” president. If the Pubix think the Americanpeople are stupid as to see through the farcical facade by the Pubix and not see the pandering, compromising and the hilarity they must be experiencing at the naivete of the Pubix in office, they are sadly mistaken.

But, as always, leave it to the entrenched Republicans, such as Boner and Cantadd, to assume that the people who elected them see this bullshit kumbaya moment as simply “business as usual”. Nothings changed.

The Pub Party is tearing itself apart. The Demshits see the cracks and are quickly inserting wedges into them, and pounding the wedges hard to turn the cracks into Grand Canyon sized fissures. Demshits are a bunch of assholes but they know how to play the game far better than the “honest, straight-shooting” Republicans.

Whether they like it or not, there IS a third party and it’s called The TEA Party and it’s going to cram REAL conservatism down the throats of the so-called Republican conservatives and RINOs.

Well, we’ll see what Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin – who are the REAL leaders of the conservatives of America – have to say.

    Bob,

Are you thinking ‘they’ are going to get conservative whether they want to or not?

That’s what I’m seeing. Idiots and ne’er do wells who won’t read the writing on the wall.

There’s a new sheriff in town and we’re all done with the pussyfooting.

Remember to print two cards in case you spill stuff on the first one.
