(Politico)- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) has invited his Democratic counterpart Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to sit with him at Tuesday’s State of the Union.
Cantor’s office said he made the ask last night. Pelosi’s office didn’t respond to an email asking if the former speaker would cozy up next to Cantor.
The two hardly are pals. Cantor Monday blasted Pelosi for not meeting with Republicans — a contention that the Californian’s office says is not true.

(The Hill)- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) invited Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to sit next to him at the State of the Union address — but the former House Speaker says she’s already committed.
“I thank @GOPLeader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. [Roscoe] Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted,” Pelosi tweeted.
The invitation from Cantor was made Monday evening through staffers for the two leaders, spokesman Brad Dayspring said.

I never watch the SOTU address, it’s always lame bullshit with little to do with reality. It’s doesn’t matter if the President is a Democrat or Republican. Besides, there’s always something more interesting to watch like one of my DVDs and besides, it will be discussed ad-naseum by the media anyway so you can always catch up later if something important is said. Which rarely happens anyway.
I would prefer if the Republicans sat on one side and threw rotten tomatoes during the “campaign” speech tonight. Or better off, boycott it. Don’t ever forget being told to sit in the back seat and keep your mouth shut when the Dems were a majority.

I’m for this if one or all 3 of the following happens:
1) Boehner stands up, lights up and shouts to the assembly, “Smoke`em if ya got`em”, then offers Obama one from his own pack
2) The GOP removes their suit jackets, shirts and ties to reveal T-shirts with those arrows and “I’m with stupid” pointing to the dem sitting beside him (her) …
3) Throughout Obama’s speech someone occasionally shouts out, “YOU LIE!” from various seated positions in the room on the left and right, and when the camera pans the gathering the GOP members point to the dem sitting beside him and mouths, “He did it” … Joe Wilson would be wearing a strip of duct tape over his mouth and lifts his hands in the “Wasn’t me” position when the camera found him
