California: Parents Upset Textbooks Teaching “Romanticized” History of Islam…

(Del Mar Times) — Three North County residents contend a textbook used to teach seventh-graders about the Islamic religion in the San Dieguito Union High School District “romanticizes” the history of the religion, and they want the district to use supplemental information to provide what they say would be a more balanced view.
Michael Hayutin and Linda Sax, both of Carmel Valley, and James Freedman of Rancho Peñasquitos presented their findings in a 21-page report to the school district’s board of trustees at a meeting last Thursday, Feb. 3. They have also met with school administrators and teachers, including Rick Schmitt, associate superintendent of educational services.
Hayutin, whose daughter is a senior at Torrey Pines High School and son is a college student who also attended district schools, said he, Sax and Freedman take issue with two chapters about Islam in a textbook called “World History: Medieval to Early Modern Times.” The chapters are used for a two-week unit of study about Islam.
In a summary heading the report, the trio wrote: “The text romanticizes Islamic history with respect to religion, government, conquest and culture. The positive aspects or achievements attributable to Islam are exaggerated and the negative downplayed or ignored. The errors are of both inclusion and omission. Critical facts that demonstrate the less admirable religious and cultural episodes and practices in Islamic history are absent or understated.”
“If we teach them a glossed over, pretty version of history that isn’t accurate, they won’t be able to evaluate what’s going on today,” Hayutin said after the meeting.
As examples, the report cites references to the Prophet Mohammed, slavery, the spread of Islam, polygamy and other subjects contained in the two textbook chapters.
Under the heading “The ‘Spread of Islam,’” the report cites numerous places in the text where the phrases “Islam spread” or “spread Islam” are used. “More accurate words to describe what occurred might include ‘conquer,’ ‘defeat,’ ‘invade,’ ‘capture,’ or ‘destroy,’” said the report.

Is anybody listening to the News from Europe? The Chancellor of Germany, The President of France, and the Prime Minister of England (and others) have said that MULTICULTURALISM IS A FAILURE. They were specifically referring to the Islamists invading Europe. There would be no issue with the people that practice Islam if they integrated into society, meaning accepting and following the laws and culture of the country they live in. They are not entitled to come to America, defy our laws, segregate their communities, shun our culture and align themselves with our enemies. The U.S. Constitution is our foundation for our government, its not a suicide pact. Muslims can get the hell out of America if they have a problem with any of that.

1. Jizya – A non-muslim is a second class citizen (less rights than muzzies) and must pay a special tax.
2. Conversion – A non-muslim must renounce his faith and accept that there is only one God and Mohammad is his messenger. Its death if you try to leave Islam.
3. Death – If the non-muslim does not wish to live under either #1 or #2.

Chester Bogus: You’re a Moslem or an ignorant fool. “Let there be no conversion” (Sura 2:256) was abrogated, along with at least 120 other verses in the Koran, by the Doctrine of Abrogation (four verses in the Koran wherein ‘allah’ itself says it will abrogate verses in favor of ‘better’ ones). What this means, in historical fact, was that once Mahomet had an army of criminal followers, and had relocated to Medina (he was, unsurprisingly, persona non grata in Mecca), he and his criminal band took to theft, robbing caravans, attacking farming communities and tribes of Jews and Christians, plundering them for their land, women, children, gold, wealth, etc. So, he ‘received’ yet another convenient ‘revelation’ or two from his pagan moon god to justify such conduct. (He also got these ‘revelations’ over his child-bride, killing non-Moslems, personally receiving one-fifth of all war booty, etc ad nauseum…
As for the bit about Jews and Christians being referred to as People of the Book, as the Koran makes clear, the Jews and Christians are said to have ‘forgotten’ or ‘perverted’ or ‘rejected’ THE book (Koran).
As for the bit about their paying tax, that would be the Jizya which was a punitive tax designed to help finance the parasitic Moslems (it was usually calculated at between 50+ percentage of a non-Moslem’s wealth). It was also designed to eventually force the non-Moslem to convert to Islam since, once one became a Moslem, one only paid Zakat, obligatory tax on all Moslems of 2.5% of a Moslem’s wealth (Zakat, as stated in Koran 9.60 is also used partly to fund Jihad “in the Cause of Allah” which is the phrase used in hundreds of verses in the Koran and Hadiths to refer to Jihad, warfare to subjugate, forcibly convert or kill all non-Moslems).
