Geithner Admits: Interest Payments and Obligations in Obama’s Budget “Unsustainable”…
Someone just slipped up and told the truth.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner today admitted under questioning from Sen. Sessions that the president’s own budget, submitted Monday, calls for interest payments and obligations that are “excessively high” and “unsustainable.” The president’s plan accumulates $13 trillion in new gross debt, with interest payments on the debt rising to $844 billion a year by 2021.

The only way to make the Obama budget work is to immediately follow it with a huge tax increase.
A tax increase HAS to be part of this process, and Obama is intentionally misleading the public by not including it in the budget.
The enormous tax increase is the ‘doc fix’ to Obama’s proposed budget.

My guess is they threw out ridiculous numbers so they could appear to compromise and end up with the “real” budget they wanted in the first place. Of course, it will be way high, but they will try to convince the public that they have compromised with the GOP and the GOP would be so unfair not to approve their compromise version.

“…the question here is… What’s the alternative plan.” this is the key point.
Obama knows any “alternative plan” will involve cuts. This is not leadership or stewardship of the country, this is just an Obama campaign strategy.
1) Present an outrageously unacceptable budget, with no real effort at cutting any spending.
2) Force the Republicans to propose deep cuts.
3) Sell the American people on the idea that Republicans are mean and want to make their lives miserable.
This is how Obama plans to “Win the Future”. Win the future election, that is.
