Community Organizer-in-Chief Unleashing His Thugs Across State Lines

Taking “Get in their face” to presidential levels.

(WASHINGTON) — Building on the momentum in Wisconsin, where tens of thousands of protesters have turned out to oppose Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s effort to strip collective-bargaining rights from the state’s public-employee unions, President Barack Obama’s campaign organization is mobilizing its followers in Ohio and Indiana, where similar measures are being considered.

Thousands descended upon the Ohio statehouse Thursday to protest a bill that would eliminate collective-bargaining rights for state employees and curtail the rights of local-level government employees. The debate is similar to that in Wisconsin: Supporters say it’s necessary to deal with budget problems, while opponents say it’s nothing but a vicious assault on unions.

Now folded into the Democratic National Committee, Obama’s campaign group Organizing For America is already actively engaged in Wisconsin and is beginning to ramp up organizing efforts in Ohio, though observers say the latter process is about a week behind that in Wisconsin. The group is also beginning to dig into Indiana, whose legislature is considering a bill to limit collective bargaining by teachers.

A DNC staffer told The Huffington Post that the group upped its efforts in Wisconsin after Chairman Tim Kaine spoke with local legislators last week. OFA then began organizing turnout for Thursday’s statehouse rally and running phone banks in Ohio targeting state senators, which are slated to continue next week. This weekend, organizers have set up door-to-door canvassing in key districts that they hope will likewise put pressure on swing lawmakers.

OFA National Deputy Director Jeremy Bird said volunteers first alerted the group to the contested Ohio legislation. “The energy is pretty remarkable,” he told The Huffington Post. “People started to contact us, and they’d call our office and our volunteers, and say, ‘This is a big deal. This is going to affect my family.’ . . . That started to really simmer earlier this week in Ohio, and it’s starting to pick up the pace.”

In Ohio, major labor unions including AFSCME and the AFL-CIO are also stepping up the pressure against Gov. John Kasich (R) and the bill’s supporters. The AFL-CIO estimated that tens of thousands of phone calls, emails and handwritten postcards have been delivered to state senators in opposition to the legislation, and a spokesman said the protests will continue in the coming weeks. . . .

In an interview with Wisconsin’s local WTMJ-TV, Obama condemned Gov. Walker’s proposal. “Some of what I’ve heard coming out of Wisconsin, where you’re just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain, generally seems like more of an assault on unions,” Obama said. “And I think it’s very important for us to understand that public employees, they’re our neighbors, they’re our friends.”

I’am against of what Scott Walker and the Republicans are doing. Wake up America the false information the Republican are serving up, will strip us of our freedoms.
    Remember your history::
First They came… – Pastor Martin Niemoller
First they came for the communists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.
    Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

The Republican and or Tea party should be made to answer the tough question and not call others un-American. Why doesn’t Scott Walker give up his perks, his pension?

The average teacher is making $89,000 per year with pay and bennies. For 180 days per year work. All the while test scores fall over the cliff.

They are being asked to contribute to their own retirement and healthcare but that’s just going too far according to them.

I don’t think teachers unions really understand how fed up people are with them.

    Mary: “First They came…….”

So Mary, in your world the restructuring of untenable PUBLIC employee benefits (to avoid laying off 5500 public employees) is somehow akin to the government coming to take people away to the gulag or concentration camp.

Why in the leftist world is it OK to screw 5500 people out of a job just so the rest of the PUBLIC (meaning employees of we the people) employees can keep the current level of benefits they currently have?

We certainly can’t expect them to pony up a little more toward their pension and health care costs! (sarc)

The Republican Governor is trying to save people’s livelihood and you are on the side of those that say damn the consequences, my benefits are more important than those 5500 others. How compassionate of you.

Why not? He’s already declared war on Arizona…
What you are witnessing is the kickoff of campaign 2012; a no holds barred, bruised knuckles contest that we had best recognize now and find a counter to. This is not going to be any ordinary election cycle. The class warfare card has be ratcheted up another notch or two. We are moving from words to open violence.

On another note, it is obvious how much these teachers care for the care and feeding of the students they teach. They have left the little darlings to fend for themselves while they march off to the capitol to save their pensions that are bankrupting the government. And to top it all off, what lesson are they teaching their little darlings? It’s ok to lie and say you are sick in order to do something else you would like to do instead of your job.

My opinion? Every one of those teachers who reported “sick” and can be identified on video as being at these protests should be fired for cause.

Union Thugs have already beaten up folks at town halls.

As States and the Federal gov’t are faced with real fiscal crisis and dealing realistically with them. These Union Thug Mobs will spread, will target more individuals in their homes, and will get violent.

This Administration is based on creating and manipulating crisis to their advantage. The economy, energy and food are all being exacerbated and used by this administration to further it’s agenda.

These crisis and the civil unrest we just see the beginnings of will be used to “prove” that free markets, and Constitutional Liberties are unfit model of governance.

    Mary,
Give me one valid current instance of Unions benefitting society as a whole.
Unions are just another middleman layer that takes a lot for itself and returns NOTHING. Take a clear look at the dropout rates and the number of graduates that can’t read or do simple math. You will see that there is a distinct difference in the claims of all this value of teachers and their unions versus what is happening in the real world, and how too many of the teachers appear to be not doing their job.
I say get rid of the unions, make teaching competitive to ensure great teachers, quit giving kids an overinflated opinion of their own worth, but instill the satisfaction of doing their work well.
With the savings of union dues and other union expenses and overhead, you’ll be able to pay your own insurance and retirement expenses, and let the long-suffering taxpayer do the same.

I remember my own tenure as a state worker (10 years in Louisiana, seven years in Florida) and being at the bottom of the barrel. In Louisiana, I started working in 1979, had no raise since 1981 and only a small raise each year since 1987. In Florida, I only had 3% raises each year, barely enough to make ends meet. These workers need all the help they can get.

  32. Monster Zero says:
    February 18, 2011 at 8:23 pm

Thomas – You hit it too long ago, it use to be that State worker’s were severly underpaid and the compensation came in the benefits. About 2000, State worker’s pay escalated based upon their counterpart in the private sector. The benefits remained as sweet a deal as they ever were. The 4% annual cost of living increases came every year, year in, year out up until the last year… Right now, say an engineer for a County or State position makes more than their counterpart and carries NONE of the liability that those on the private side are subject to. At 30 years of service they are allowed to retire at 85% of their top five years of earning. A typical State lawyer where I live makes around 125,000.00 a year, there are hundreds of them!

When you wonder why some Republicans cave — such as the 22 who caved on the budget cuts on Friday, just look at what Obama’s doing — calling out the goon squads. Look at that photograph (and so many others like it) where you see raw hatred and rage in this man. Remember that this man says his favorite movie in the world is “The Godfather.” Most of all, remember that he is not just your everyday enraged socialist; he is one who has the real power to RUIN your life, to threaten your spouse and children, to destroy everything you’ve worked for all your life, to send you to jail, and God knows what else. You look at history and see that other tyrants — Mussolini, Castro, and on and on — did not hesitate to get EXTREMELY rough with their political enemies.

I think that at a gut, subconscious level, this man, for all his effeminate ways, inspires raw animal fear. I’m just a lowly citizen, and I do my best to just stay off his radar. Can you imagine what it is to be a public official in direct, vocal, visible opposition to him? Remember Sarah Palin’s church being torched — WITH CHILDREN INSIDE. This is scary shit, folks.

I’m not excusing those Republican Congressmen’s cowardice. I’m just saying that, as a person with children, I can understand.

And if you think I sound irrational, just remember “It’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you.” Obama has shown all too clearly that he is really is out to get us.
