President Obama: “Everyone Must Sacrifice”
The First Lady is sacrificing by going skiing in Vail. Plugs’ sacrifice consists of catching some rays in the Florida Keys. The President stayed in D.C. to coach Sasha’s basketball team.
(The Vail Daily) — First lady Michelle Obama is among the Presidents Day weekend crowd. Obama arrived Friday night for a weekend of skiing in Vail and Beaver Creek, according to local sources.
A motorcade of about a dozen vehicles, including 15 state and local law enforcement officers, traveled from the Eagle County Regional Airport to Vail on Friday night, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Roads were temporarily blocked to make way for the motorcade in Eagle.
The motorcade entered an underground garage beneath the Sebastian hotel in Vail Village shortly after 9:30 p.m.
It won’t be the first lady’s first time on skis. She took daughters Sasha and Malia for a quick trip to Liberty Mountain Resort, in Carroll Valley, Pa., in February 2010. It was the first time on skis for the first daughters, according to Anne Weimer, marketing director at Ski Liberty.
During an interview posted by Liberty Mountain, the first lady was asked about some her favorite hot spots. Instead, she talked about a cool spot. “We discovered skiing. My girls had never been skiing,” she said. “With a couple hours, you’re skiing.”
“You can go from 60- and 50-degree weather to being on a slope. Not too many places in this country you can do that and still be at the seat of power. It’s kind of cool,” she said in the interview.
Obama has made health and fitness one of her primary causes, and skiing burns up to 400 calories an hour, ski-industry sources say.
Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden is spending the Presidents Day holiday weekend in the Florida Keys. The White House says Biden and his wife traveled to Key Largo on Thursday night. The couple will remain in the Upper Keys through Monday.
No public events are scheduled for the first lady’s visit to Vail.

If any of you have skied at Vail you’ll realize why the Obama’s should be skiing on a private mountain.
It takes quite a while to get to the top of the mountain. Tons of people, finding a parking place, the walk thru the Village, the gondola stops at mid-Vail, picks up more people and then to get to top takes at least 45 minutes.
I can imagine the mess they are creating because they are such thoughtless a-holes.

I skied in Vail once. It was the most expensive, luxurious, high brow place. I could barely afford it then, and could never afford it now. Talk about elite. The restaurants are out of control expensive, lots of real fur coats, hats, boots, valet ski service, spas, etc. I’d never go back because it wasn’t fun when you can’t afford it. (ski Utah!) It just makes me sick to think we’re all paying the tab for this one. Even if she picks up her meals,which I seriously doubt, we’re paying up the wazzo for the Air Force plane and I can just imagine the Secret Service bill on this one.

I would have to admit, when I was young, I was a liberal…registered as a Democrat at 21, and have voted for Democratic up to the Bush v. Kerry election. My daughter’s godfather (“John”) is a SanFran liberal (the worst kind), and it was through his rants that I decided I could not take the Lefts’ philosophy anymore. Last xmas day, John graced us with his presence, and an argument over Obamacare ensued. With one side of the mouth, John was ranting about doctors and how their income needed to be controlled, and on the other, he was talking about the estate of his 90-year old mother (his inheritance — in the millions — money made by two Christian conservative parents), and how it was protected from taxes through a trust. His parents paid his entire education, and it was not well into his 30s that the man actually had a real job…of course, after an MBA paid fully by his widowed mom. I see the same hypocrisy in the Obamas as well…they call for sacrifice, not spending money in Vegas, etc., while his administration spends billions on the taxpayers backs, and his family go on fancy vacations.
