WikiLeaks: China Using Massive Debt US Holdings to Influence American Policies…
It will only get worse unless we stop Obama from borrowing America into oblivion.
Comments & pings are closed.WASHINGTON — Leaked diplomatic cables vividly show China’s willingness to translate its massive holdings of US debt into political influence on issues ranging from Taiwan’s sovereignty to Washington’s financial policy.
China’s clout — gleaned from its nearly $900 billion stack of US debt — has been widely commented on in the United States, but sensitive cables show just how much influence Beijing has and how keen Washington is to address its rival’s concerns.
An October 2008 cable, released by WikiLeaks, showed a senior Chinese official linking questions about much-needed Chinese investment to sensitive military sales to Taiwan.
Amid the panic of Lehman Brothers’ collapse and the ensuing liquidity crunch, Liu Jiahua, an official who then helped manage China’s foreign reserves, was “non-committal on the possible resumption of lending.”

Arrest Soros for being a spy and a traitor to America freeze his assets till trial then fry his ass take all his money and pay off China.
What’s worse: China or the Koch brothers?
Well, one thing – if we do default on our debt – China is screwed.
Hmmmm. China holds Billions of dollars of our debt and is willing to use that as leverage against us. I bet nobody saw this coming….
/really?
This is completely unnecessary.
Why did the Chinese government spend so much time brainwashing Obama if they had to also financially coerce him?
.
I wonder how many states have been used for collateral .
Like ,the whole state?
Sadly, this debt problem with China began before Obama. He’s made it far worst, but even before him there already was too much of our debt in Chicom hands.
@Proud Infidel, I agree, but can you ever imagine a time when China would strongarm our government to make concessions. The fact that we borrowed from them with interest is concession enough. They smell weakness and will use it to their advantage.
Funny, but just because I borrowed money from my bank for a mortgage does not mean I will do any special favors for them.
Cruising the net yesterday I find some of the financial stories of interest. China is, and has been, buying up tons of gold for the past few years. They’ve been accused of trying to move to a gold backed Yuan – which would take them out of the IMF I’m told. They’ve also mandated their banks hold more assets in reserve than previously, thus shoring up the solvency of their banking system. We live in interesting times.
‘Bam is bought and paid for. The only question is WHO owns the title and sales slip?
Just wait until they need to import more food from us. They let’s see them squirm. But then again they will probably let their own people starve just like North Korea did years ago.
This should be another major Wake-Up Call to America…unfortunately I fear it won’t.
Yeah…China has about as much influence on domestic and foreign policy as
1.) the United States has had in the Middle East of the past 70 years after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
2.) as the United States has had with North Korea since the 1950′s after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
3.) as the United States has had with Vietnam since the 1970′s after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
4.) as the United States has had with Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
5.) as the United States has had with Cuba since the 1950′s after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
6.) as the United States has had with Iran since the 1970′s after spending untold billions to buy political “influence”
Did I leave anybody out?

Will Obama approve the sale of US refineries if they want to buy them?
