CBS Drama Names Palin-Supporting Tea Party Character “McVeigh”…

Why so subtle?

(Fox News) — The CBS drama “The Good Wife” has raised a few eyebrows by naming Gary Cole’s character, a ballistics expert, Tea Party member, and Sarah Palin supporter, “Kurt McVeigh,” a not so subtle comparison to Timothy McVeigh, the man behind the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings.

So was the writing an attempt to discredit the former Republican Vice Presidential candidate by drawing links to Timothy McVeigh, or was it a simple artistic decision?

“Calling a character ‘Kurt McVeigh’ conjures up unmistakable images of mass murdering terrorist Timothy McVeigh. Hollywood screenwriters don’t live in a cultural vacuum; they help to create American culture,” Matthew Vadum, senior editor at the Capital Research Center in Washington D.C told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “They had to have known that making the character a conservative with a fondness for Sarah Palin was a clever way to take a jab at the former Alaska governor.”

Every time a show does this, that’s the last time I EVER tune in. At this rate, I’ll be ready to cancel my Direct TV for lack of reason to tune in.

Heh, heh. Let’s jot down the names of those involved in this show. Seems like every media type who has trashed the ‘Cuda seems to fall off the radar screen of popularity and high-dollar salary (yeah, we’re looking at you, ratings-challenged Perky One).

They, the LEFT WING/COMMUNIST Media, WILL ALWAYS tell you who they are the most afraid of!

Sarah is first. Sarah, one of the very few American Patriat Conservatives left in this political correctness country may tell it like it is. The media cannot allow this and the public is catching on to their daily lies!

Not to change the subject but, has anyone seen the new Fox show about a rapist-pedophile?

The show is called: Merrick Jobama; Human Scum.

(I think we’re at war with 5th graders.)

It’s everywhere. I was walking through the living room and my daughter was watching a teen TV comedy show called “Victorious” on Nick. Someone said something about no global warming and somebody else sniped, “I told you to stop watching FOX News.”

Not only that, but the little ones have Nick Jr. on most of the waking hours. In between the cartoons they have these little teaching-type exercises in manners, etc. The little obscure cartoon host of the clips greeted the young viewers with “Comrades” today. I’m like what the fucking hell?

    Popped in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.

Young single gal shacking up with midget men, nasty bitch stepmoms, attempted murder. Back to basics.

I love fellow Idahoan, Sarah Palin. I am amazed that one petite lady can be so many places at once…. Simultaneously occupying the mind of every liberal in America.

Doesn’t it amaze you that in today’s highly fragmented TV market, these shows are willing to alienate half of their viewers just to bash the Right?

I see non-political websites doing this too – and I won’t even mention Miss Cellania by name. Why insult the people who pay your salary?

bitterclinger is right, let’s watch them fail and keep a tally.

I guess they all figure that they only need the left-wing sheep to keep their ratings going. Besides, all the networks veer to the left (aside from FOXNews, but FOX still keeps “Family Guy” on the air, so what does thjat say about them?). So they will protect their own to an extent.

As for this show, I never heard of it. Like most conservatives, TV no longer holds the same wonder it once did. With the growth of the internet and cable/satellite TV, unless it’s a super Bowl, the ratings are in the toilet anyway.

If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have thought anything of it.

There is a family named the McVeighs in our neighborhood. It wouldn’t occur to be to associate those nice people with Timothy McVeigh, anymore than it would occur to me to associate a tv character of the same name to Timothy McVeigh..

I think that you’re making a big deal out of nothing, which you wouldn’t have done, unless, UNLESS you attach a wacky connotation to the Palin name yourself. Now tell the truth, do you? :)

Totally agree, I never watched the show – the commercials for it was enough – and like most on this site, have quit watching anything on major networks and will NEVER watch oprah’s channel for any reason. Note to “Perspectives”, I’d say your perspective is a little screwed if you can’t see the difference between your neighbors down the street and what CBS is doing…..not the MSM is biased or anything.

clayusmcret is right. It won’t be long before there isn’t anything on that’s worth tuning in.

Although, if they keep making shows like Top Shot and Sons of Guns, I can watch that anytime.

I only saw previews when the show first came out but never watched it. Didn’t it come out after some politicians cheated on their wives and that was the premise of the show?

(Couldn’t remember if it was Spitzer or the SC governor scandal when this show came out)

    @JohnDoe57 –

So true. The reaction the left has to Sarah Palin always reminds me of the scene in ‘Young Frankenstein’ where Marty Feldman drives the horses crazy with a single word – Bleucher.

On a side note, a while back there was something on TV about that movie. Cloris Leachman said that some time after production she found out that Bleucher is Yiddish for ‘glue’.

EASY never watch the show, never have and never will, I have stopped watching many shows that slant against America and people doing good things for her.

Stop watching and let the sponsors know, they might not care because the brain dead are a big customer base.

Okay, I admit I watched a few episodes. Including the latest one just last week. Here’s the ironic part. The ballistics expert has a thing for one of the partners in the law firm. He’s true blue American patriot pro gun. She’s 180 out. Now it’s her that has come around to see personal liberty is a VERY GOOD thing. Personal responsibility is a VERY GOOD thing.

Funny how prolonged exposure to good people helps you clear up a few misconceptions isn’t it?

Of course it’s only tv, both actors are flaming libs IRL.

I’ll stick with Sarah. She’s the same whether the camera’s on or not.
