Former Senator Booted by Tea Party Warns Republicans Not to Choose Tea Party Candidate for 2012…

Sorry, Bob, we don’t take advice from losers.

Republicans must “be careful” before nominating a presidential candidate identified with the Tea Party movement, a veteran former senator said Friday evening.

Former Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) warned his party against nominating a candidate too quickly after the early caucuses and primaries, urging the GOP to instead pursue someone with more national appeal.

“If you’re going to nominate a national candidate, don’t make the mistake of assuming that those who attend the early caucuses and the early primaries speak for the nation as a whole,” Bennett said on Fox News. “If you’re going to have a national candidate, you’d better have a national view.”

Bennett is another victim of Beltway Fever. What a horrible affliction. It destroys the brain, decimates all morals & principles, dissolves one’s character, and finishes one with complete decomposition of all human traits.

In view of his misbehavior in recent years, I’m hesitant to agree with him, but, in a way, Bob Bennett is right. We saw most notably in Alaska, Washington, California, Arizona and Delaware in 2010, that Sarah Palin and Tea Partiers are NOT qualified to select credible and effective political candidates. Those decisions should be made by experienced, competent professionals in the RNC, both at state levels and at their national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Yeah, I know, you’ll argue that Sarah and Tea Partiers picked winners, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul. But that isn’t strictly true. Rubio and Paul were already way, WAY out ahead in the polls LONG before Tea Partiers endorsed them to regain some semblance of credibility, following their stumbling and instances of extremely bad judgment in the recent past.

Don’t get me wrong. I have the highest respect and admiration for most of the Tea Partiers, and I laud their accomplishments in a few areas. For the aforementioned reasons and others, though, I think that they should recognize their limitations. After all, they are amateurs. The tough decisions should be left to the professionals …., and, oh yeah, Tea Partiers should show some humility, instead of getting fat heads and exhibiting so much bravado in their compulsion to take credit for wins which weren’t even of their own doing for the most part. (Also, Sarah Palin should sit down and shut up. With her ditzy self-promotions, she is doing more harm than good.)

He is right, the Republicans of establishment had better not bring the Tea or they will surely find themselves out in the cold. Tea is about putting government back to the people through implementation of common sense not political correctness, not maintaining status quo. Why do you think the liberals are so scared, they know they will be made to stand tall and do the do. No more special little handouts for “people of color” or Union payola. God I love that one, people of color…how about people of self worth for the betterment of our Nation instead? Pull your pants up, pay for your own kids, learn English….become an American.

“Rubio and Paul were already way, WAY out ahead in the polls LONG before Tea Partiers endorsed them ”

Not true, and the same goes for Nikki Haley or other congress people.

As an independent, I can say I thought and still think Christine O’donnel was and is a horrible horrible choice and so was sharon angle, and Joe Miller blew it all on his own. Some of the Tea Party groups are way too overbearing, Tea Party Express is one such group, but then there were others like the St Louis Tea Party group who I have a great deal of respect for.

“The tough decisions should be left to the professionals ”

what professionals? Rove? Sorry, as a democrat I couldn’t stand Rove, although now I try and listen to him with an open mind, and I agree with some of what he says.

the repubs will vote for repubs, the dems will vote for dems, its the indies like me who will decide the next election. the repub candidate, Romney, he still defends RomneyCare, this is supposed to engender confidence? who else? Pawlenty? I never hear of him until a few months ago. Will Palin win or not? I don’t know, but the same can be said about every other repub candidate, the democrat media — which is the entire media, they will promote the candidate who they will then once the nominations are finalized tear down vicisiously to promote and campaign for Obama.

Does the repubs party just want to nominate someone who will be Obama light or actually espouse principles and a vision of America that is in stark constrast to Obama. in 2012, the candidate is not just Obama, but the entire media, Couric, Williams, Sawyer who will be part of the Obama staff, pretending to be unbiased. Do I want someone who will just fight hard enough but not really that much so that he can still be invited to the DC cocktail parties? or do I want a real fighter who will not back down? I choose the latter.

This must be the same philosophy behind Coulter promoting Christie and others who give us similar choices like Huckabee, Trump, and Romney.

BTW… did anyone see that Christie again stated that Palin needs more ‘unscripted’ moments (link below)… is it just me or does anyone else notice that every time Christie has a sound bite promoted around the country… it’s NEVER from someone’s camera phone video… it’s ALWAYS video that looks like it’s PROFESSIONAL MEDIA video…. hmmmm… and I’m supposed to believe all of his moments are UNSCRIPTED?

May God save this great country from the Republican professionals. They are the ones who gave us McCain in 2008. McCain’s only redeeming action in that race was to bring Sarah Palin to the national stage. With out her support, McCain would have lost by millions more votes.

IMO, Without the Tea Party support, you can forget the Republicans in 2012. Many of the Tea Party candidates would have done much better, had there not been so many professional Republicans stabbing them in the back.

The Bennett’s and Utah politics have been co-joined at the hip since before statehhood in 1896.

I’m glad he is gone and hope we never have to put with another one in public office.

Not sure if it was tea party folks that delt him a death blow, but I know a whole lotta fine folks made sure as hell they attended the local meetings and voted him off the ticket! Because we were sick to death of him and his buddy Reid in NV too. could not move that, close but did not happen.

“The tough decisions should be left to the professionals …., ”

    Like Oboma?

    Cue the puke session!

We constantly clamor for term limitations all the while forgeting we can limit how long any of these politicos are in office. Every two, four and six years we the people can throw them out!

BUT WE FAIL TO DO SO!

We the people of Utah finally did! They did it at the caucus level so that they would not have to choose between the same old man with an R by his name and someone with a D by their name, or the garden variety alphabet parties that crop up every election.

Amateurs? Please send them in! The more the merrier! I take the mind of a simple person over some steel trap lawyer any day and every election!

I saw EX-Sen. Bennett on Greta last week. What a bitter, old codger. I remember him crying when he lost the primary. Free ride is over! Mike Lee is about 1,000 times better, so this was a major win. Utah’s home to another great system called iCaucus. Look for them on the web. A member of my patriot group is involved with them and has explained their selection process. They’re also the reason Utah found Jason Chaffetz.

iCaucus has potential candidates answer a lengthy questionnaire and does a panel screening to get the candidates’ views on Constitutional questions/knowledge. You’ve got to be hardcore conservative to get their okay. They’re nationwide, but got their start out west.

As for some of the Tea Party folk being disappointments, it’s the law of averages. We’re after citizen politicians, not professionals. Tea Party Express has announced that their goal is to have one blogger follow each congress critter and report everything. This is an excellent idea. If they know they’ve got someone watching their every move, they’ll do what they were sent to do — if they want to be re-elected. When the people fear the govt, there is tyranny; when the govt fears the people, there is liberty!

Oh, and Perspectives, STFU and STFD. Your opinion of Sarah Palin interests me NOT. She’s out taking the slings and arrows daily. What have you done for posterity than darken Weaseldom w/your blather.

  22. Perspectives says:

The Tea Party didn’t oust Bob Bennett. That’s hogwash and wishful thinking.

Bennett’s successor, Mike Lee, was simply a [much] stronger candidate, campaigning on a promise that he would restore full adherence to the U.S. Constitution as it was written, not as it has been interpreted in case law by liberal, judicial activists, AND he was a dynamic, much more savvy and more articulate candidate, also.

I’ve watched the guy at Congressional hearings. He is neither a blowhard, nor a bullsh*t artist. He is shrewd, clever, resourceful, sincere and [very] sharp, too, decimating the Democrats’s positions on issues at those hearings with ethical, logical and well reasoned arguments, cutting through the smoke, mirrors and bullsh*t of the Democrats, which not even more experienced Senators Hatch and Cornyn were able to do so adroitly ….., although I will say that Alabama’s Republican Senator Jeff Sessions ripped the Democrats new a$$holes in those hearings, also, methodically shredding their lame arguments into little pieces, even better than Utah’s new Senator Mike Lee did. Gotta love that guy. Sly, old Jeffy is thee greatest, so wiley that he is always entertaining. Makes one proud to be an American and a Republican.

The Tea Party made mistakes, and will make mistakes. It’s part of the human experience.

But the “professional” politicians, Dem and Repub have sure made their fair share of mistakes haven’t they? These highly educated “professionals” have managed to take the country to a $14 trillion debt, they caused major corporations to collapse, then took OUR MONEY to prop them up, they’ve managed to take America from the world’s number one economy soon to be number three, they’ve gotten us bogged down in lots of wars without defining the goals or victory. They’ve managed to take us from a 20% dependency on foreign oil to a 60% dependency just as that region burns and starts to fall apart. They’ve left the border wide open to drug cartels and human smugglers and undoubtedly terrorists while they grope and prod grandma and the kids at the airport. Yes-sirree, those Harvard, Yale and Standford educated professional politicians have done a swell job of guiding the nation. And make no mistake, many Republicans actively helped all this along or just went linguine spined and did nothing to try and stop it or even slow it down.

I watched Greta’s interview with this arrogant embittered codger. He hasn’t learned a thing. Also I can’t think of anything he did. 18 years in the Senate and he will be lucky to be mentioned as a blip in history most notable for being replaced by a Tea Party candidate. There are plenty more just like him in the Republican Party who need to be ousted.

Sorry, persepectives, your statements sound a bit too much like rationalizing – especially your statement about letting the professionals make decisions – you sound like a liberal with that attitude – In my view, we are in the mess we are in BECAUSE OF THE G-DAMN PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS. I am willing to tolerate a few mistakes in some “amateurs”, because we all know there are far, far more mistakes already in our government which is well laden with “professionals” and those with such “national views”.

And I will also jump on this point as well – I think Palin would have been far better received had the “professional” republicans – like those in McCain’s camp given her some more support. I’d take my chances with her as president over just about anyone else out there. There would only be few exceptions (Cain, West, DeMint, Pence).
