Obama: Public Union Workers Are Being “Vilified” — UPDATE: Vid Added
Could have fooled me. Last time I checked these “vilified” protesters are carrying signs depicting Walker as Hitler, attacking Tea Partiers and issuing death-threats just to name a few.
(The Hill) — President Obama warned Monday against vilifying public workers, making his first allusion to the labor dispute in Wisconsin in a week and a half.
The president, speaking Monday to a group of governors at the White House, warned against using public servants as scapegoats, a not-so-subtle reference to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) pursuit of legislation that would eliminate collective bargaining rights for public workers.
“I don’t think it does anybody any good when public servants are denigrated, or vilified, or have their rights infringed upon,” Obama said.
The president’s been largely silent on the labor dispute, which has prompted weeks of demonstrations in Madison by pro-labor crowds, since saying on Feb. 17 that Walker’s plan represents an “assault on unions.”
Some Democrats had clamored for more a more vocal stance by Obama on behalf of pro-labor forces in Wisconsin, but amid major international developments in Libya over the past week, the president has largely let surrogates — Vice President Biden and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis — take the lead on the issue.

We have a US State Dep that apparently sees it’s mission as attacking Israel 24/7.
We have a DOJ where no one seems to get justice, an Ag Dept that seems to have come up with the desire to give a lot of money to all kinds of people who don’t seem to have a lot to do with farming.
Entire depts designed to make sure that no American is allowed to drill for oil in America.
A Labor dept that revises employment figures almost as soon as they are initially issued.
Millions being evicted from their homes because of major bank fraud and no one in government cares.
The list goes on and on. All the groups mentioned are government employees and yet the taxpayer is supposed to treat them nice because other wise the Democrats won’t get all that unions dues money that is necessary to turn this once great nation into a 3rd world cesspool.

This is good! Let Obama keep talking. Let him tell the country whose side he’s on. Let him show everyone how much he hates the American taxpayer and the American economy. Let the people see this while they deal with rising food, gas, clothing prices as well as record foreclosures, record unemployment and record bank failures.

Madison– Today President Obama again weighed in against Governor Walker’s proposal to balance the state’s budget deficit by having state government workers contribute a modest amount toward their own pensions and pay 12.6 percent toward their healthcare premiums.
In response to the President’s comments, the Governor’s Press Secretary Cullen Werwie issued the following statement:
I’m sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I’m sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.
Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.
I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.
