Top Union Chief Refuses to Condemn Protester Signs Comparing Gov. Walker to Hitler. . . UPDATE: Vid Added

The hypocrisy is mind-numbing.

(Fox News) — The head of one of the nation’s most powerful labor unions did not condemn the violent rhetoric in placards and signs held by union supporters demonstrating in Wisconsin despite two direct attempts Sunday to get him on the record declaring them inappropriate.

On several occasions over the past two weeks of demonstrations in the Wisconsin capital of Madison news media have zeroed in on signs that liken Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and recently ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Appearing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka was twice asked whether he found the tone at the nearly two-week long demonstrations “wrong” or “inappropriate.”

Trumka did not answer, instead saying, “We should be sitting down trying to create jobs. . . . In Wisconsin, a vast majority of the people think this governor has overreached. His popularity has gone down. They’re saying to him, sit down and negotiate; don’t do what you’ve been doing. So he’s losing.”

Former Senator Booted by Tea Party Warns Republicans Not to Choose Tea Party Candidate for 2012…

Sorry, Bob, we don’t take advice from losers.

Republicans must “be careful” before nominating a presidential candidate identified with the Tea Party movement, a veteran former senator said Friday evening.

Former Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) warned his party against nominating a candidate too quickly after the early caucuses and primaries, urging the GOP to instead pursue someone with more national appeal.

“If you’re going to nominate a national candidate, don’t make the mistake of assuming that those who attend the early caucuses and the early primaries speak for the nation as a whole,” Bennett said on Fox News. “If you’re going to have a national candidate, you’d better have a national view.”

Herman Cain Wins Tea Party Straw Poll…

Momentum building for Cain?

(The Hill) — Former pizza executive Herman Cain won on Sunday a 2012 presidential straw poll of attendees of a Tea Party conference in Arizona.

Cain won 22 percent of the vote in a straw poll of in-person attendees at the American Policy Summit, the first-ever conference organized by Tea Party Patriots, one of the larger umbrella organizations for Tea Party activists.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R), meanwhile, won nearly 50 percent of the votes cast by 2,300 online straw poll participants.

The win is a minor coup for Cain, the long-shot presidential candidate who’s the only one to have actually formed an exploratory committee so far. Behind Cain amongst in-person attendees were former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) at 16 percent and Paul, at 15 percent. All three of them spoke at the convention.

“Mr. Cain and Rep. Paul positions resonated with Tea Party Patriots this weekend and the straw poll indicates the enthusiasm for these strong conservatives,” said Mark Meckler, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots, in a statement.

Flashback: Dem Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s Gushing Love Note to Gaddafi…

Take a good look, Democrats, she’s one of yours.

Via PJ Tatler:

Representative of the adoration paid to Libya’s Moammar Qaddafi by American black radicals are those of former Rep. Cynthia McKinney. In Tripoli in October 2009 she gave a loving speech to Qaddafi and his whacked out Green Book:

“Colonel Khadafy should be highly commended for honoring our ancestors — the framers of true democracy — by reaching out from Africa to the entire world. We would like to thank him for this opportunity to discuss his thoughts as presented in the Green Book.

“We are here to listen and observe, then to support and carry forth the ideas of democracy and equality, universal principles embodied in the Green Book, the goal of our effort being to link and empower Black, indigenous and oppressed peoples world-wide for the betterment of our earth and all of its inhabitants.”

I cannot make up this stuff. The love notes thrown by radical black American activists are legendary and have been continuous over several decades.

Head AFL-CIO Goon Richard Trumka Praises Obama’s Handling of Wisconsin Labor Battle…

Trumka’s always there to defend Obama’s honor.

(The Hill) — AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka gave his blessing Sunday to President Obama’s handling of the labor standoff in Wisconsin.

Amid some criticism on the left that Obama could do more to boost unions in their demonstrations against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and his proposal to eliminate most collective bargaining rights for public workers, Trumka said the president was doing just fine.

“I think he’s doing it the right way,” Trumka said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

A growing number of Democrats have pressed Obama to take more of a leading role in the labor dispute. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), a co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, last week called for Obama to head to Wisconsin.

Obama has called the Walker proposal “an assault on unions,” but has said little else personally. Other members of the administration, including Vice President Biden and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, have also voiced concerns about the Wisconsin dispute.

“Everybody could be doing more,” Trumka said when pressed about whether the president could do more, pointedly avoiding singling out Obama for criticism.

Libtalker to Republican Proposing Anti-Abortion Bill: “The Lord in Heaven is Going to Snap Your Head off and Kick it Into Hell as a Soccer Ball”

When it comes to unadulterated visceral hatred nobody comes close to the “progressive” left.

(Newsbusters) — For anyone who thinks liberals are calm and rational beings, free of bitterness and rage, we can always disprove that with the radio show of Mike Malloy. . . .

Earlier on Thursday’s show, Malloy also freaked out over a Mother Jones story on an attempt by Nebraska state Sen. Mark Christiansen to pass a bill protecting unborn children from violence.

In the Omaha World-Herald, Christiansen “said the proposal was inspired by a Michigan case in which a woman pregnant with quadruplets was charged with manslaughter after stabbing to death an ex-boyfriend who had punched her in the stomach. Christensen and supporters, including anti-abortion groups Family First, Americans United for Life and the Nebraska Catholic Conference, said the bill was just a natural progression from existing state laws that craft separate offenses for assaulting or murdering an unborn infant.”

But Malloy called Christiansen not only a “Jesus-hating liar,” but he insisted God was going to snap his head off and let the demons in Hell use it for soccer practice:

Hey dumb-ass, hey freak — hey un-Christian, Jesus-hating liar! You know you’re breaking the 10th Commandment there because there are already laws on the books — someone who’s attacked like, oh I don’t know, pick somebody there Mr. Christiansen — how about — a pregnant woman! She has the right to kill the son of a bitch on the spot already. No, you’re a liar and you’re a coward, Senator Mark Christiansen, devout Christian and devout abortion foe! You’re a liar and a coward!

You’re one of those types that, when they great getting morning-up does come, according to your Holy Text, and you stand up for the Lord in Heaven — he’s going to snap your head off and kick it into hell where the demons, devils, and haints will use it as a soccer ball for all of eternity and that’s what’s waiting for you, Mark!

Miss. GOP Gov. Haley Barbour: Obama “One of the Greatest Politicians in the History of the United States” — Update: Video Added…

If Barbour’s going to run for president, then heaping praise on the Thug-in-Chief probably isn’t the best idea. Update: People in the comments have noted this could very well be a backhanded insult considering the average person’s opinion of politicians.

President Barack Obama is one of America’s best politicians ever, according to one of his potential rivals for re-election in 2012.

“The president is one of the greatest politicians in the history of the United States,” Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Barbour’s comments came during a discussion of Wisconsin’s budget battle — a fight that’s sparked widespread protests as Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has tried to curtail collective bargaining rights for public employees.

Obama is “quiet [on the issue] because most Americans know this has to be done,” Barbour said.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer Calls Wisconsin Fleebaggers “Despicable”…

I can think of a few other choice words that describes them but despicable works for me.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Sunday blasted as “despicable” the Wisconsin Democratic state senators who fled the state to avoid a vote on a Republican budget that would curb labor union bargaining rights for public employees.

“No one should walk out,” the Republican governor told anchor ABC’s Jake Tapper on “This Week.”

The Democratic lawmakers “are doing exactly what we ask public employees not to do, and that is to strike, and it is wrong,” said Brewer, herself a former state lawmaker. “They need to get back to Wisconsin, they need to go in there, and they need to vote. It is just so irresponsible. I can’t imagine them — any of them — getting reelected. The only thing you go to the legislature with is your vote.”

As part of his proposed budget package, Wisconsin’s newly elected Republican Gov. Scott Walker has proposed stripping public sector unions of most of their collective bargaining rights. The plan has enough votes to pass the Republican-controlled legislature, but Democratic senators have avoided a vote by fleeing the state, depriving the upper chamber of a quorum necessary to pass legislation.

“It’s despicable,” Brewer said, “that you have elected officials in the legislature . . . that they would leave their job.”

Conn Dem Gov. Defends Wisconsin Fleebaggers for Avoiding “un-American” Law…

Apparently unions holding the taxpayers hostage doesn’t qualify as “un-American.”

(Politico) — Connecticut’s newly elected Democratic Gov. Dan Malloy on Sunday blasted as “un-American” a plan pushed by his Republican counterpart in Wisconsin to curtail abor union bargaining rights for public employees and defended the extraordinary lengths to which the state’s Democratic lawmakers have gone to block the plan.

“There are quorum rules and that’s part of the game,” Malloy said of the tactic deployed by Wisconsin Democratic state senators who fled the state to deprive their Republican counterparts of the quorum necessary to pass the plan.

Still, Malloy conceded that the Democrats took a bit of a public relations hit in the process.

“Do I think the Democrats look great in this? No,” Malloy said. But he added “Do I think what’s happening in Wisconsin is a travesty? The answer is yes. We should not be attacking people’s rights to join organizations. I mean, it’s un-American, quite frankly, so I think people use the tools that they have, and in this case, preventing a quorum from taking place is one of those tools.”

Shocker! Newly Released FBI Files Show Ted Kennedy Was a Perverted Commie Sympathizer…

Filed under “The least shocking story of all time.”

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained previously redacted material from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) file of the late Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy, who died in August 2009 from brain cancer. Judicial Watch obtained the records pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit originally filed on June 9, 2010 (Judicial Watch v. FBI (Case No. 10-963)).

The documents include a December 28, 1961, State Department memo describing a tour of several Latin American countries taken by then-Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County Kennedy. This document as it was originally made public was almost completely redacted. After an initial challenge by Judicial Watch, a version with fewer redactions was released. Judicial Watch continued to argue that the blackouts were baseless and, after six more months, the FBI relented. Among the statements previously withheld but now made available to Judicial Watch:

  • “While Kennedy was in Santiago he made arrangements to ‘rent’ a brothel for an entire night. Kennedy allegedly invited one of the Embassy chauffeurs to participate in the night’s activities.”
  • “[I]n each country Kennedy insisted on interviewing ‘the angry young men’ of the country. He wanted to meet with communists and others who had left-wing views. . . . Ambassador Freeman, Bogota, said the first person whom Kennedy wanted to meet was Lauchlin Currie.” (The document subsequently identifies Currie as a person who “had been mentioned in Washington investigations of Soviet spy rings.”)
  • “[I]n Mexico Kennedy asked Ambassador Mann that certain left-wingers be invited to the Embassy residence where interviews could be held. Mann took the strong position that he would not invite such people and stated that if any such interviews were to be conducted, all arrangements should be made by Kennedy himself.”

(Judicial Watch, through separate litigation (Judicial Watch v. FBI (Case No. 10-1568)), also recently forced the FBI to begin the release of the FBI file of the late Ted Stevens, the long-time Republican Senator from Alaska.)

Obama’s Labor Secretary Tells DNC: “Public Employees Are Under Assault. . . The Fight Is on”…

God forbid they have to live by the same rules as the (gasp) private sector.

(Politico) — The final day of the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting turned into an impromptu rally for the public workers of Wisconsin, demonstrating that the standoff over GOP Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed budget has galvanized labor and liberals.

“The fight is on,” Labor Secretary Hilda Solis told the closing session of the DNC gathering at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel Saturday morning. “We work together. We help those embattled states right now where public employees are under assault.”

Solis, a former congresswoman from California, got cheers and multiple standing ovations for her remarks blasting Walker and other Republican governors who seek to weaken government workers’ collective bargaining rights.

“We know many states are facing tough budget decisions,” she said. “We know there’s room for shared sacrifice — shared sacrifice. We’ve seen our brothers and sisters in public employee unions willingly give up their fair share. . . . The governors of Wisconsin and Ohio aren’t just demanding that they tighten their belts, they’re demanding that they give up their uniquely American rights as workers.”

Top labor officials — from Gerald McEntee, president of the government workers’ union AFSCME, to Anna Burger, former secretary-treasurer of the Service Employees International Union — came to the floor to speak in favor of a resolution supporting workers and collective bargaining.

CBS Drama Names Palin-Supporting Tea Party Character “McVeigh”…

Why so subtle?

(Fox News) — The CBS drama “The Good Wife” has raised a few eyebrows by naming Gary Cole’s character, a ballistics expert, Tea Party member, and Sarah Palin supporter, “Kurt McVeigh,” a not so subtle comparison to Timothy McVeigh, the man behind the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings.

So was the writing an attempt to discredit the former Republican Vice Presidential candidate by drawing links to Timothy McVeigh, or was it a simple artistic decision?

“Calling a character ‘Kurt McVeigh’ conjures up unmistakable images of mass murdering terrorist Timothy McVeigh. Hollywood screenwriters don’t live in a cultural vacuum; they help to create American culture,” Matthew Vadum, senior editor at the Capital Research Center in Washington D.C told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “They had to have known that making the character a conservative with a fondness for Sarah Palin was a clever way to take a jab at the former Alaska governor.”

Huff Po: Hey, How About a Small Nuclear War to Reverse Global Warming?…

Great idea, let’s test it out in the Berkeley-San Fran area.

Nuclear war is a bad thing.

Right?

Scientists from NASA and a number of other institutions have recently been modeling the effects of a war involving a hundred Hiroshima-level bombs, or 0.03 percent of the world’s current nuclear arsenal, according to National Geographic. The research suggests five million metric tons of black carbon would be swept up into the lowest portion of the atmosphere.

The result, according to NASA climate models, could actually be global cooling. . . .

While the global cooling caused by superpower-on-superpower war could be catastrophic (hence the term “nuclear winter”) a small scale war could have an impact on the world climate, says National Geographic. Models suggest that though the world is currently in a warming trend, small-scale war could lower global temperatures 2.25 degrees F for two-to-three years following war.
