I’m sure the teachers have absolutely no problem with this.
(Daily Caller) — Wisconsin’s teachers are required to teach children about the history of the labor union movement and collective bargaining in the United States, per a law former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle signed in December 2009. Wisconsin’s Assembly Bill (AB) 172 requires the state’s teachers to incorporate “the history of organized labor in America and the collective bargaining process” into their lesson plans.
Describing the new law, AB 172, Wisconsin’s official Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website says, “Wisconsin has long been a leader in labor rights. The Progressive Movement, which had its beginnings in our state, led to laws limiting child labor and safety in the workplace. Unions such as the AFL-CIO and Teamsters allow us to enjoy an eight-hour work week and vacation time. In fact, it has been argued by some historians that the history of the United States itself could be a history of labor.”
For help in lesson planning, the Wisconsin DPI provides links to the Wisconsin Labor History Society, the Wisconsin Historical Society Labor Collections and the Educational Communications Board Surf Report on Labor History, all pro-union websites.
The Wisconsin Labor History Society reported that the only reason the bill passed was because Democrats were in control of both houses of the legislature and the governor’s office for the first time in 12 years.

Bring a lasso.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State patrol officers are being dispatched to the homes of multiple Democratic Wisconsin state senators in the hopes that will force them to come back in session.
The Senate met at 7 a.m. Thursday to issue a call of the house, which allows for law enforcement to be sent to find missing members. The 14 Democrats skipped town last week to avoid voting on a bill taking away collective bargaining rights from public workers.
Police can’t arrest absent members, but Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he hopes one or more of them will feel compelled to come back with a police officer at their door.Republicans need at least one Democrat to be present to take up the bill.

Dick, I need your guys to hold the teabaggers down while the SEIU goons stomp and kick them.

Public schedule of Vice President Joe Biden for Thursday, Feb. 24:
At 10:45 AM, the Vice President and Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis will meet with President of the AFL-CIO Richard Trumka and with presidents of AFL-CIO labor organizations.
Whatever do you suppose they’re plotting inside this transparent Obama administration White House?
Because that’s what Wisconsin needs right now, another thug.
(The Hill) — President Obama should go to Wisconsin to show his support for the labor movement, a House liberal leader said Wednesday night.
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, ramped up pressure on the president to weigh in more heavily against the Republican governor’s labor reform proposal.
“I’d like to hear more from President Obama. He’s made some statements. He should get credit for that,” Ellison said on MSNBC. “We would like to hear him make some more statements. I think that President Obama should come to Wisconsin and stand with the workers.”

Things are about to get ugly in America my friends. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen when the leftists try to storm town halls packed with tea partiers.
(The Hill) — Democratic strategists believe their Tea Party moment has arrived.
Working with labor unions and liberal groups, they are using the Presidents Day congressional recess to organize a public backlash against billions of dollars in cuts to federal programs.
One labor organizer said that members have been urged to attend congressional town hall meetings to ask Republican lawmakers “pointed questions” about the cuts they supported last week.
“We are targeting various House Republicans in town hall meetings during the recess to let them know these budget cuts are beyond the pale,” said the labor source, who added that it has been difficult to mobilize supporters to public question-and-answer sessions with lawmakers because “they’ve been pretty circumspect in giving out information about the meetings.”
Justin Ruben, the executive director of MoveOn.org, a progressive advocacy group, has also encouraged members to grill lawmakers at town hall meetings.
“Whenever we hear about a town hall meeting we encourage them to go and ask pointed questions about what is happening,” he said.
Conservative strategists used town hall meetings in August of 2009 to raise loud public protests against the healthcare bill Democrats were pushing through Congress.
He’s like a race-baiting version of Jimmy Hoffa.

Damn, this thing is getting ugly.
(CSM) — An army unit and militiamen loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi blasted a mosque with antiaircraft missiles and automatic weapons Thursday, targeting protesters who had holed up inside. The attack, which occurred just 30 miles from Tripoli, comes as Qaddafi finds himself increasingly squeezed by antiregime forces and isolated internationally for his brutal attempts to hold on to power.
Protesters inside the mosque “suffered heavy casualties,” though estimates for numbers killed were not available from witnesses, the Associated Press reports.
The attack was reportedly carried out by a legion of mercenaries and Qaddafi’s personal security forces. The New York Times describes the mercenary brigade fighting with an increasingly isolated Qaddafi, who may have even been deserted by parts of the Libyan armed forces at this point.
Distrustful of even his own generals, Colonel Qaddafi has for years quietly built up this ruthless and loyal force. It is made up of special brigades headed by his sons, segments of the military loyal to his native tribe and its allies, and legions of African mercenaries he has helped train and equip. Many are believed to have fought elsewhere, in places like Sudan, but he has now called them back.
Witnesses said on Wednesday that thousands of members of this irregular army were massing on roads to the capital, Tripoli, where one resident described scenes evocative of anarchic Somalia, clusters of heavily armed men in mismatched uniforms clutching machine guns and willing to carry out orders to kill Libyans that other police and military units, and even fighter pilots, have refused.
Can we expect mass demonstrations across the Islamic world because of the burnt Korans? I’m guessing no.

Before we tell them to go piss up a rope consider this, as much as the ISI plays both sides of the aisle it would be almost impossible for the CIA to run assets in the tribal regions which in turn feed intel to the Predators hovering overhead.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s ISI spy agency is ready to split with the CIA because of frustration over what it calls heavy-handed pressure and its anger over what it believes is a covert U.S. operation involving hundreds of contract spies, according to an internal document obtained by The Associated Press and interviews with U.S. and Pakistani officials.
Such a move could seriously damage the U.S war effort in Afghanistan, limit a program targeting al-Qaida insurgents along the Pakistan frontier, and restrict Washington’s access to information in the nuclear-armed country.
According to a statement drafted by the ISI, supported by interviews with officials, an already-fragile relationship between the two agencies collapsed following the shooting death of two Pakistanis by Raymond Davis, a U.S. contracted spy who is in jail in Pakistan facing possible multiple murder charges.
“Post-incident conduct of the CIA has virtually put the partnership into question,” said a media statement prepared by the ISI but never released. A copy was obtained this week by the AP.
The statement accused the CIA of using pressure tactics to free Davis.
“It is hard to predict if the relationship will ever reach the level at which it was prior to the Davis episode,” the statement said. “The onus of not stalling this relationship between the two agencies now squarely lies on the CIA.”

Payback’s a bitch, eh Gaddafi?
(Ynet) — NATO forces may attack forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi if the Libyan air force continues to bomb anti-government protesters, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi reported, citing a European official claiming the US had threatened to intervene in the violence.
The source said NATO and US warplanes stationed in Italy may be ordered to take down Libyan planes, and that electronic warfare against them may already have been implemented.

Back pocket.
(WSJ) — Mr. Obama discouraged independent groups from working on his behalf during the 2008 presidential race. Democratic strategists now believe the Obama campaign will give them the green light to create independent advertising efforts for 2012 to rival the well-funded conservative groups that appeared in the 2010 congressional elections.
Wealthy Democratic donors and party activists have met several times in recent months to map out the best way to help Mr. Obama win a second term.
The meetings have included representatives of labor groups such as the AFL-CIO, the National Education Association and the Service Employees International Union; abortion-rights organizations including NARAL Pro-Choice America; the League of Conservation Voters and other environmental groups; and some of the biggest Democratic campaign givers and insiders, such as strategist Harold Ickes.
“There is a general consensus that there needs to be something big on our side to counter what the other side did in the last election,” said Steve Rosenthal, a Democratic strategist who led one recent meeting at Tuscana West, an Italian restaurant in Washington.
Among the donors involved in the discussions is Rob McKay, the son of the founder of Taco Bell. Now a San Francisco-based activist, Mr. McKay leads a group of wealthy Democrats who fund liberal organizations. Other Democrats involved include Robert Dyson, the chief executive of a large New York-based investment firm.

Working on it.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence Obama failed to mention Gaddafi by name during his pathetic condemnation of the bloodbath in Libya.
JERUSALEM — As pressure mounts on the White House to intervene to stop Moammar Gadhafi’s bloody crackdown in Libya, many commentators have been wondering why Barack Obama has been cautious in his criticism of the dictator after the U.S. president so fervently supported the removal from office of U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak of Egypt.
But Gadhafi has been tied to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s spiritual adviser for more than 23 years.
The Libyan dictator also has financed and strongly supported the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. Obama has ties to Farrakhan and his controversial group. . .
Jeremiah Wright, former pastor of Obama’s longtime Chicago church, went with Farrakhan to visit Gadhafi in 1984.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Wright himself noted the trip could cause problems for Obama.
“When [Obama’s] enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli to visit [Gadhafi] with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”
Farrakhan, a close friend and associate of Wright, has been financed by Gadhafi, including with a $5 million interest-free loan in 1985.

This story is actually worse than first reported, when Capuano made the blood comments to union supporters he was pointing at a small group of Tea Partiers who were brave enough to counter-protest in Boston. Capuano is lucky nobody got hurt.
(Boston Herald) — U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano expressed regret Wednesday for his choice of words at a Tuesday rally to support Wisconsin workers, after national and local Republicans pounced on him for “over-the-top and inflammatory rhetoric.”
“Congressman Mike Capuano must have lost the memo from President Obama and Democratic leaders who were demanding more civility in our political discourse and a toning down of incendiary rhetoric after the massacre in Tucson on January 8,” the Massachusetts Republican Party wrote in a Wednesday statement. “Yesterday, at a rally on Beacon Hill, Capuano couldn’t resist the urge to stir up a crowd of union members with a call for blood in the pursuit and protection of their political agenda.”
During the Tuesday rally — a gathering of more than 1,000 union supporters protesting a proposal by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to diminish the collective bargaining rights of public sector workers in that state — Capuano, speaking in front of the State House, fired up the crowd by saying, “I’m proud to be here with people who understand that it’s more than just sending an email to get you going. Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary.”
After Republicans took aim at his rhetoric, Capuano issued a statement expressing regret for his language, although at the time it drew wild applause and cheers from the throngs of union supporters.
Capuano also referred to a vastly outnumbered throng of Tea Party counter-protesters as “a couple of nuts in the background who want to take it all away from you,” waving his hand dismissively in their direction. Throughout the three-hour rally, rank-and-file union members traded heated barbs with the Tea Party backers. Some clashes nearly escalated into violence and resulted in police intervention. In one case, a pro-union rallier spit in the face of one of the counter-protesters, who set up camp near the rally.
Capuano’s comments quickly drew contrasts with the call for a more civil tone in national political rhetoric by President Barack Obama and politicians across the country after a mass shooting in Tucson that injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Capuano was reportedly among those who agreed with Obama’s call, telling the Boston Globe in January, “Everybody knows the last couple of years there’s been an intentional increase in the degree of heat in political discourse . . . If nothing else good comes out of this, I’m hoping it causes people to reconsider how they deal with things.’’

Jackass.
(The Hill) — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee defended First Lady Michelle Obama Wednesday from conservative critics who he said have painted her anti-obesity campaign as nothing more than “a government takeover of our dinner plates.”
“She’s been criticized unfairly by a lot of my fellow conservatives,” Huckabee said at an event sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, adding that the criticism is more “a reflex” than “thoughtful expression.”
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and conservative talk host Rush Limbaugh are among those who have slammed Michelle Obama’s efforts as heavy handed.
“It’s exactly what Republicans say they believe,” Huckabee said of the first lady’s campaign. “By putting the focus on individual responsibility, you encourage people to make good choices and reward them for doing so. I thought that was what we’re about.”
The former governor, who has struggled with his own weight in the past and has helped promote Michelle Obama’s efforts, said rather than condemning her, “I think we ought to be thanking her.”

Love it.
(Ozaukee Press) — The Port Washington-Saukville School District will dock the pay of 82 teachers who skipped school last Thursday to protest Gov. Scott Walker’s budget bill in Madison, Supt. Michael Weber said Tuesday.
The absences, which left the district without about 43% of its teachers, essentially crippled the school system. Administrators were forced to close the high school 1-1/2 hours after students arrived because there weren’t enough teachers to staff classrooms.
Other schools remained opened, but principals scrambled to find enough substitute teachers to supervise the more than 800 students at the middle school. Parent-teacher conferences scheduled for Thursday had to be cancelled.
The teacher absences shocked school officials and parents, who said they thought the Port Washington-Saukville School District would be the last place to experience a mass exodus of teachers because of the remarkably good relationship between the district and union. The district was one of only a handful in this area of the state forced to cancel classes because of teacher absences.

He seems like a perfectly normal liberal Democrat to me.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Seven-term Democratic Rep. David Wu faced increasing pressure Wednesday to step down amid a series of bizarre revelations in recent days about his mental health, including a photo he sent to staffers during his re-election bid showing him wearing a tiger costume.
The state Republican chair and one of Oregon’s largest newspapers said Wu should resign, but Wu says he has no intention of quitting.
“He has a really important job, and the citizens of Oregon and the citizens of the congressional district deserve to have a congressman who’s completely focused on serving them and being a great congressman,” Oregon Republican Party Chairman Allen Alley said Wednesday.
Wu said Tuesday that it was “unprofessional and inappropriate” to send pictures of himself wearing a tiger costume to staff members while he was in the middle of a heated campaign last year. He also acknowledged taking two tablets of a pain killer that were given to him by an unnamed campaign donor.
“This was the only time that this has ever happened,” the congressman said in a statement of the pain killer episode. “I recognize that my action showed poor judgment at the time, and I sincerely regret having put my staff in a difficult position.”
Eff the unions, they have zero place in modern America.
Via Red State:
Union protestors, including waiver award winners Communication Workers of America (CWA), arrived outside of the FreedomWorks headquarters today apparently to hit female activists and police the Jews.
Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, the same level headed Unions were scolding a black tea party activist for “voting against his best interests,” since they clearly know better than he does.
