Ethiopia: Thousands of Muslims Rampage After Alleged Koran Desecration, Five Christian Churches Burned Down..
I’ll go out on limb and say the Koran desecration never happened and was just an excuse to attack Christians.
Washington — International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that in the past two days, thousands of Muslims have razed five churches and the homes of two evangelists in Asendabo, Ethiopia. Christian leaders are asking for protection after the Muslim attackers continued burning churches even after the federal police were sent to the town.
The Muslims started the attacks yesterday after falsely accusing the Christians of desecrating the Qur’an. More than ten thousand Muslims shouted “Allah Akbar” (Allah is great) as they burned down five evangelical churches. The government sent the federal police force to protect the Christians after the Muslims burned down the first three churches. The Muslims overwhelmed the police force and burned down two more churches today.
Speaking with ICC, Christian leaders expressed their fear that Muslims will start killing the Christians unless the government sends more security forces to contain the Muslim attackers.
At the time of the writing of this report, none of the Muslim attackers have been arrested. The government officials detained some Christians and took them to the nearby Jimma town stating that they need to do that for their own security.
Ethiopia is a Christian majority country and was one of the first nations to accept Christianity. However, in the areas of the country where Muslims are the majority, Christians face attacks.

Update: Ethiopian Muslims Kill Christian, Burn More Churches and Christian Homes in Ongoing Attacks
Washington, D.C. (March 4, 2011)–International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that today Muslims killed one Christian, burned down another eight churches, a bible school, and 17 Christian homes in stepping up their attacks against Christians in Asendabo, Ethiopia.
Yesterday ICC reported that the attacks started on March 2 after Muslims accused Christians of desecrating the Qur’an. Today’s attacks bring the total number of razed churches to 13. More than 150 Christians are now without homes. The attacks have spread to the villages surrounding the town of Asendabo.
Christians are calling on the government of Ethiopia for protection. The Ethiopian government sent federal security forces but they couldn’t control ten thousand rioting Muslims from continuing their attacks.
Asendabo is a town located in Jimma Zone, Western Ethiopia. Western Ethiopia was the scene of violent attacks against Christians in 2006 when Muslims killed more than a dozen Christian and burned down several churches. The attacks forces thousands of Christians to leave their homes.
“Ethiopian officials have a responsibility to protect their citizens from attacks. It is outrageous and a violation of their obligation under international human rights law for the government to let Muslims kill Christians and destroy their property. We ask that those concerned would contact the Ethiopian embassy to express their concern and ask for government intervention,” said Jonathan Racho, ICC’s Regional Manager for Africa.

As much as I would like to see Allen West run for President in ’12, he’s probably way too smart for that. He’d be the first to tell you one term as a Representative isn’t enough. I think he can do a lot of good just doing what he’s doing where he’s at. In 2016 he could be a far more formidable candidate.
I desecrate koran’s all the time. Drop them on the floor, stand on them. I do it so often that my local bookshop no longer has them on display.

The comments are right on….but in the interests of dealing with reality, it seems we should maybe ratchet up our reality-response a bit. Someone says “this has got to stop.” Well. That’s a problem right there. Because it doesn’t “have to stop.”
We have been accustomed to expecting law and order to prevail in our nation, and where our nation’s interests were at stake. Unfortunately, the people in charge of our government have mixed feelings about this whole thing. You see, they’re just not that sure that there might not be some advantage for them and their ideals to let it go on. Unfortunately, it does not “have to stop.” God help us, I hope it does. But we are no longer a nation of laws, we are no longer respected on the international stage, and those who make decisions on our behalf are certainly full of courage and a driving ambition to do right.
It doesn’t have to stop. It may not stop. If we start admitting that, out loud….maybe there will be enough members of Congress who find their personal courage that impeachment proceedings can get these unAmericans out of our halls of government, and defend us again, and see if we have any allies left on the world scene, and go help them.
