Wow: British Government Sees the Light, Slashes U.N. Funding Over Poor Performance…
Probably the last country on Earth one would expect to see cut U.N. funding. Now it’s our turn.
(Fox News) — Critics of U.S. spending on the United Nations got a huge boost — and supporters of that spending, especially the Obama Administration, took a body blow — from an unlikely source this week: the British government, long one of the U.N.’s staunchest supporters.
In a sweeping and hard-nosed reorganization of priorities for its $10.6 billion multilateral foreign aid program, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government of Prime Minister David Cameron has pulled the financial plug entirely on four U.N. agencies at the end of next year, put three others judged merely “adequate” on notice that they could face the same fate unless they improve their performance “as a matter of absolute urgency;” and issued pointed criticisms of almost all the rest.
The major exception: UNICEF, the U.N. children’s aid agency, which got a strong endorsement and a funding increase.
The tough actions were revealed as the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by House Foreign Affairs Committee chairperson Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, has been gearing up an extended critical look at U.N. funding as part of its overall budget austerity plan. The British revelations also came while U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice was on an extended cross-country tour, drumming up grass-roots support for U.N. funding in what is sure to be a protracted battle. Unveiling of the new British priorities undoubtedly will hearten her opponents on Capitol Hill.

Good for them. This should make for interesting conversation when the O’s visit. I hope the UK cuts costs on its dinners for visiting presidents too. How about fish and chips or hamburger and fries like the rest of us? Oh, I forgot about Michelle, make that a McDonald’s chicken salad.

Awesome move. The UN is the most corrupt, inept and useless organization on the planet. It does nothing more than provide a soapbox for the world’s worst tyrants, dictators and despots. The OIC has a near-stranglehold on all UN affairs and it now exists for no other reason than to destroy US sovereignty, which Obama has been happily taking part in.
The US needs to leave ASAP.

Sort of really pisses me off. does anyone else know of a president facing the economic nightmare that were in plus the wars and lack of jobs and businesses in American right now. does anyone know of any other president that has written a book while in office and been on a none stop campaign for re-election ?

I thought defunding of the U.N. was brought up, on our side, a week or so ago. Where we usually lead, the U.K, and to some extent, Canada, have become the leaders. America now sits on the fence, with a “POST-TURTLE PRESIDENT”, who has no clue what he is doing, let alone how to lead. Maybe he will follow the U.K.’s move, as, in this case it is “better late than never”!
Whether our Congress defunds the U.N. by program, or in a bulk block, matters not to me. The original concept may have been noble, and at one time the organization may have had some legitimacy. Anymore, the U.N. is more corrupt than not.

What a wonderful irony. Chicago Jesus sent back the bust of Churchill, and the UK says “screw you” to his dreamboat, his reason for living. Hopefully Canada will stop funding these corrupt megalomaniacs, too. These two heavyweights pulling back on support will give Rep. Ros-Lehtinen back up when she pulls back on our contribution.
We’ll have to wait till 2013 for President Palin to sever all our ties to the UN for good, though.
I’m in shock. I would have never expected this from the UK. Maybe they aren’t as far gone as I thought. Unfortunately, with Obozobama as “president”, it will be until 2013 at least until we can pull the plug on the Useless Nations.

Aren’t these are the same british politicians that have sold out their nation and peoples for the progressive socialist multicultural dream? I’m withholding judgement on this move. Just as likely the Brit elites are playing power politics with the UN to get something else they want. Time will tell.
Never mind defunding parts that don’t meet our standards of human freedoms or productivity. Demand our politicians, if they want to be re-elected, take steps to remove the US from the UN, then take back the land on which the UN building sits by right of eminent domain (to hell with the Rockefellers’ having given it in perpetuity for UN purposes), and throw the whole corrupt, would-be NEW WORLD ORDER body out of the US. The UN can always re-locate to Mecca, which is its real ‘spiritual’ home anyhow. (The OIC, Organisation of Islamic Conference) is the biggest voting bloc in the UN anyhow.)

We should not only defund the UN but should ask them to move out of our country. I think a good spot for them would be to Saudi Arabia. I’m sure they would enjoy the “freedoms” available there.
