State Department Spokesman: Treatment of WikiLeaks Traitor Bradley Manning “Ridiculous and Stupid”…
The WikiLeaks cables were a disaster for the State Department and now P.J. Crowley is defending the guy responsible for it?
(The Cable) — State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told an audience at MIT on Thursday that he thought the Defense Department’s treatment of alleged WikiLeaks source Private Bradley Manning was “ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid.”
Blogger Philippa Thomas first reported Crowley’s remarks, which she said were part of a lecture on “the benefits of new media as it relates to foreign policy” at an event organized by MIT’s Center for Future Civic Media.
“One young man said he wanted to address ‘the elephant in the room’. What did Crowley think, he asked, about Wikileaks? About the United States, in [the questioner's] words, ‘torturing a prisoner in a military brig’? Crowley didn’t stop to think. What’s being done to Bradley Manning by my colleagues at the Department of Defense ‘is ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid.’ He paused. ‘None the less Bradley Manning is in the right place’. And he went on lengthening his answer, explaining why in Washington’s view, ‘there is sometimes a need for secrets . . . for diplomatic progress to be made’,” Thomas wrote.
Reached by The Cable, Crowley confirmed that he did in fact make the remarks.

I worked for a private prison contractor who housed federal and from time to time military inmates. I even worked @ the Ft. Hood lock up when it was our battalions turn at duty to slave for III Corps.

In other words is it possible that the State dept is worried about what Manning will say. I still think someone ” helped ” him along to further some political goal that is helpful to Obama somehow. Maybe they want access to shut him up and the military and intel people won’t give it up.

Manning is in what most Americans would identify as the local county lockup for high custody inmates. Because he is wearing a suicide gown means that a mental health doctor took away items that could be used to harm himself.
23 hour lockdown means he gets out to take a shower and recreation alone of course.
That is for his saftey, if another inmate gets in contact with him and hurts him ——-well all hell breaks loose.
What I described above is standard ACA procedures for inmates.
Even though the mental health docs now say he’s not a suicide risk, the warden or in this case the brig Cmdr can authorize a gown for security reasons.
He may be gaming the system, telling the guards he’s gonna hurt himself and then act normal when the doc comes around. Inmates have 24 hrs a day to play games
