ABC News/WaPo Poll: Americans Confidence in Government Lowest Since Jimmy Carter…
Coincidence? I think not.
(ABC News) — Confidence in the U.S. system of government has dropped to a new low in more than 35 years, with public attitudes burdened by continued economic discontent, soaring gasoline prices, record opposition to the war in Afghanistan — and a letdown in hopes for political progress after a bout of bipartisanship last fall.
Only 26 percent of Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll say they’re optimistic about “our system of government and how well it works,” down 7 points since October to the fewest in surveys dating to 1974. Almost as many, 23 percent, are pessimistic, the closest these measures ever have come. The rest, a record high, are “uncertain” about the system.
The causes are many. Despite a significant advance, more than half still say the economy has not yet begun to recover. And there’s trouble at the pump: Seventy-one percent in this poll, produced for ABC News by Langer Research Associates, report financial hardship as a result of rising gas prices. Forty-four percent call it a “serious” hardship.

Yes, I remember those lines well. After 10 hour days in the hot sun (I was lucky had a job) I stood in line for hours and pushed my full size Impala forward to save gas. Sometimes, the pump was just in sight, and the sign went up, OUT OF GAS, and we all jumped in our cars and went searching for another gas staion line to wait in. There were times when you had to go to 3 or 4 stations burning up more gas in the process. I had to get gas because my job was 60 miles one way.
Our domestic policy was a disaster!

Get ready, those gas shortages will be relived in short order. The biggest difference is that in the 70′s gas was 39 cents a gallon. We will be lucky to find it for under $5 per gallon. Here’s why I believe it is coming: Libya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and every other “moderate” Islamic state falling into the hands of radicals! Iran, Iraq, Kwaait will follow in suit!

Those Carter days were miserable, but not nearly as scary as today. It took two years after that idiot was gone to get back on track. This time people have access to a lot more information, so maybe it won’t take so long. I told my younger relatives about the Carter days and that they were just voting to be poor, but they just ignored me. Listen and read, damn it, read!

The problem isn’t the US system, it’s when idiots like Carter and Obama are running it that it’s a problem. And there’s no doubt in my mind Obama is far more dangerous. He has a plan and has so far executed it well. The commie SOB knows what he’s doing. November 2012 can not come soon enough.
