Dennis Kucinich Hints at Impeachment of Obama Over Libya No-Fly Zone, Fellow Far-Left Dems Equally Outraged…

(Politico) — A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.
Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.
Kucinich also questioned why Democratic leaders didn’t object when President Barack Obama told them of his plan for American participation in enforcing the Libyan no-fly zone during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told POLITICO.
And liberals fumed that Congress hadn’t been formally consulted before the attack and expressed concern that it would lead to a third U.S. war in the Muslim world.

Some on the right (chiefly Andrew McCarthy) are also objecting to our military actions in Libya. They pretend to not see our recent attacks on terrorist belligerants– outside the Afghan and Iraq theatres (Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc.)– as squaring with the Congressional war authorization.
There is nothing substantially different in reacting to these ever shifting theatres in our global war on terrorism.
During WWII, Allied forces didn’t hesitate to send forces into the China-Burma-India theatres.
There’s nothing fundamentally inconsistent in recognizing Kaddafi’s threat– to resume destroying civilian airliners (TWA840, PA103, UTA772)– as alligning Kaddafi (once again) with the axis of evil.
The post-9/11 Congressional authorization should be regarded as extending to Kaddafi, in the same sense it applies in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc.
FDR didn’t go back to Congress before invading North Africa. Libya is merely a new theatre in our Congressionally authorized global war on terrorism.
It would tragic if a Kucinich-Buchanan alliance crippled our war effort.

Liberals were crying for this no-fly zone and now they’re whining about how this is for oil and that we’re killing civilians in another illegal war. I’m surprised they’d go after Obama though, somehow this no-fly zone is the fault of the Republicans and Tea Party.

The need of an ‘impeachable offense’ was never the problem.
My uneducated guess is that this will not go too far. I don’t think Obama wanted to do it and will pull back as soon as he can justify it. Why? Because I think the powers-that-be are picking and choosing which revolutions we want to back and which we don’t. This one in Libya is not getting the same support as Egypt did from the MSM, movements.org, etc. which tells me they don’t want this one to work.
The AP reported that massive amounts of armor was targeted outside of Benghazi most of it in obvious retreat with many dead and wounded.
No Fly Zone, eh? Sounds like a no fly, drive, walk , crawl or swim zone.

This morning, Allan West was on Fox and Friends. He was upset that Obama didn’t speak to them, he is on the House Military Action Committee. He was upset because Obama had sent them on leave from Washington, and then called for airstrikes in Lybia.
Maybe more will come of this from our side of the aisle.
