Move Over NPR, Obama Regime Announces It Will Fund The BBC…

Yes, really.

(Guardian) — The BBC World Service is to receive a “significant” sum of money from the US government to help combat the blocking of TV and internet services in countries including Iran and China.

In what the BBC said is the first deal of its kind, an agreement is expected to be signed later this month that will see US state department money — understood to be a low six-figure sum — given to the World Service to invest in developing anti-jamming technology and software.

The funding is also expected to be used to educate people in countries with state censorship in how to circumnavigate the blocking of internet and TV services.

It is understood the US government has decided the reach of the World Service is such that it makes investment worthwhile.

The US government money comes as the World Service faces a 16% cut in its annual grant from the Foreign Office — a £46m reduction in its £236.7m budget over three years that will lead to about 650 job cuts. The money will be channelled through the World Service’s charitable arm, the World Service Trust.

This makes little sense. Obama recently cancelled Voice of America aimed at China. More to this than meets the eye me thinks.

In addition to Hama’s assassinations ,I would like to see alot more targets here in the USA added to the Israeli list. I would prefer they start in D.C. NOW!!!!

The Communist Left’s number one pro-Islam propaganda machine of the West.

Just today’s example among 1001 exapmples that can be found at BiasedBBC,
A Huge BBC broadside at Christianity, while whitewashing Islam:

There is no way that US tax dollars should be given to a foreign government owned news agency.

Soooo, they are going to start a program for people in heavily government censored countries that will tell them how to beat government censorship? All while they are trying over here to censor the net through Net Neutrality and “Copyright Protection” I call Bullshit. Kinda thinking the flip side is true “to develop jamming and tracking technology that is invasive.”

This is totally repugnant – and it might me illegal, as the BBC is funded by the UK government from TV license fees paid by its citizens. The BBC, particluraly its news, has always been the UK’s and, with its global reach, the world’s extreme left mouthpiece. No wonder Barack Hussein wants to be a part of it.

As somebody who lived in England for 11 years, I can tell you one thing: The BBC doesn’t need US money. They already rob the people blind by making them pay for a TV license. This license funds only BBC TV and BBC radio. I think my last yearly bill was 145 pounds (about $250). What do you get? Mostly American TV shows, MSNBC style news, soccer, cricket (kill me), and darts. And if you don’t pay, they hunt you down and fine you.
No way the US should give these people money – for any reason!

Shay, I used to live in Britain and you are 100% correct. I too paid a TV tax and the money did indeed go to the BBC, if I didn’t pay, they had the right to confiscate my TV.

Obama is just paying them bribes for good stories with U.S. tax-payer money.

  19. gastorgrab says:
    March 21, 2011 at 1:09 pm

Is this so Obama can claim that international news coverage views his actions in a positive light?

It is a conflict of interest to have ANY government funding of the press. The government is who the press is supposed to be reporting on.

Would we let a prosecutor or a defense attorney also be the judge?
    .

  20. jabbernaught says:
    March 21, 2011 at 1:09 pm

Just another ploy to give taxpayer money away, so he can bankrupt our country.

Because the left wing media will not touch him, Obama just takes action, even if it is illegal, and dares the right to stop him .. then the media and corrupt elements in the government and courts, obfuscate and run interference for him..

We need to focus more on who Obama ‘really’ is, than debating his actions. He is a fraud, illegal SSN, fighting to keep his past hidden … We need to go after his jugular on this… he’s vulnerable…. he’s a fraud.

The AJ product “Islam in America” has been bought up by DOS for showings to Muslim audiences abroad. The justification is that AJ has a more accurate view of U.S. Muslim life than Americans do. Yes really. This is happening.

How many times does it need to be presented that we are no longer a sovereign nation, but a member of the world. We have been sold down the river to the world government. Obama’s behavior in foreign countries shows this loud and clear.

We are no longer a free nation, but a nation of the world. It’s made clear to us every day, we just haven’t been listening enough to catch on.

  31. Phillip says:

I don’t believe it because the government practices censorship right here in this country. There have been investments like this in the past, for example with Cuba. It was not considered successful and it was a waste of money and a joke.
It is hard for me to believe the government actually has such intentions, they are so dishonest.
