Awesome: Maine GOP Gov. Orders Giant Pro-Union Mural Removed From Department of Labor Building
Because trashing a 36-foot mural wasn’t awesome enough, Governor LePage also ordered the rooms named after union icons such as Cesar Chavez changed.
Comments & pings are closed.AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine Gov. Paul LePage has ordered the removal of a 36-foot mural depicting the state’s labor history from the lobby of the Department of Labor headquarters building in Augusta.
In addition, the LePage administration is renaming several department conference rooms that carry the names of pro-labor icons such as Cesar Chavez.
LePage spokesman Dan Demeritt says the mural and the conference room names are not in keeping with the department’s pro-business goals and some business owners complained.
The mural was erected in 2008. It depicts several moments in Maine labor history, including a 1937 shoe mill strike in Auburn and Lewiston and “Rosie the Riveter” at the Bath Iron Works.
The Sun Journal newspaper says some worker advocates feel the move is a “mean-spirited” provocation.

heh
Great moves!
We need to start crushing the public sector unions.
I’ve had it up to here with those thugs.
Especially after hearing the audio of the SEIU thug planning to crash the stock market and destroy the banks.
Obama is part of the plan and so is Holder.
Their silence is deafening.
Down with these anti-American unions! They’ve shown their true colors. They are the enemy.
The Department of Labor should remain neutral in all cases.
The mural was an endorsement of organized labor before complaints were even brought. It assumes that ‘Big Labor’ is always right.
Imagine if it was a mural of Jesus.
Good on you, Gov. LePage! Finally, someone who knows how to play the same way the dems do. Furthermore, WTH do murals of labor unions — started in Communist Russia — have to do with the proud spirit of Americana and its once-proud history of self-reliance?
The closest equivalent I can fathom would be SEIU’s headquarters sporting religious murals and/or biblical scenes in the JUDEO-CHRISTIAN tradition.
LePage was on board supporting Wis. Gov. Walker as well. Thank You.
Speaking of Gov. Walker, this was too good not to bring to WZ:

Yeah, you read that correct, 90 sick days!
Cesar Chavez was not quite the open-borders liberal icon as represented by today’s revisionists.
CESAR CHAVEZ, MINUTEMAN

He was a union organizer, true, but it was in private business, not the blood-sucking of public employees.
Larry7:
90 sick days on top of 3 months off, 2 weeks off, 1 week off, numerous other days off?
That comes to over 6 months off for nearly $100,000 a year!
Now I am really pissed!
Isn’t Paul LePage incredibly AWESOME??!!!!
He is our Chris Christy. He is bold and unafraid… And, honest.
Times are a’changin in Maine. I hope it changes enough so that the Dems don’t re-elect Olympia next year, cause the Republicans sure aren’t doing it!
Obama sent the Churchill bust back to England. Two can play this game.
How’s my ass taste now, bitches? /LePage voice
some of us up here appreciate him, look at the Bangor Daily comments to see what we deal with.
yeah, snowe/collins and michuad/pingree, boy we need a clean sweep there.
Being from frugal Maine, I need to suggest to the Governor to auction them off on Ebay to raise some revenue. Go Lepage.
another small step
Even Ceaser Chavez knew that illegal immigrants are bad for labor.
..a beacon of light in the darkness…
