Report: New “Strong Tip-Offs” of Bin Laden Sightings, Intel Officials “Stunned” by Visibility of His Movements…
As remote as it is, I shudder uncontrollably at the thought of Bin Laden being taken alive by the Obama administration.
ISLAMABAD — After a prolonged lull, the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has launched a series of covert operations in the rugged Hindu Kush mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan following strong tip-offs that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been criss-crossing the area in the past few weeks for high-profile meetings in militant redoubts.
The US has been on Bin Laden’s trail ever since he fled Afghanistan when the US invaded the country in 2001 to oust the Taliban, but the 54-year-old with a US$50 million reward on his head has always remained several steps in front.
Asia Times Online has learned that decision-makers have put a lot of weight on the information on Bin Laden’s movements as it has come from multiple intelligence agencies, in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. For at least two years, little credible news has emerged of Bin Laden’s movements and motives. Now, intelligence officials believe they have top-grade accounts as they come from the inner circles of militant camps.
Officials are said to be “stunned” by the visibility of Bin Laden’s movements, and their frequency, in a matter of a few weeks in the outlawed terrain of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the most unprecedented reports about him since he evaded the US in the Tora Bora mountains in Afghanistan in 2001.

Even if this report is accurate, what possible purpose – other than to tip him off – is served by announcing this. The fact that intel officials have commented only leads me to believe that if taken alove, the Obama people will royally screw it up.

Bin Laden’s dream of an Arabic-African Caliphate is almost a reality, and Obama is doing as much as he can to help this along. If Bin Laden is fully committed to bringing this about, the most important thing he could do would be to ensure Obama gets reelected. What better way to do so but to have Obama’s administration “capture” the most wanted terrorist? Back when I was a liberal, I mused how Bush was going to parade a “captured” bin Laden out in front of the press a few weeks before the election against Kerry–now I fear bin Laden will turn himself in to give Obama the chance to do the same.

Barry went to Pakistan in the early/mid eighties and no one knows what the hell he was doing there during that time. Pakistan was the dumping off point of everyone who was joining the mujahadeen in Afghanistan against the Russians and we all know Binny boy was over there at the same time.
Now , I’m not saying Obama joined the mujahadeen, because to be honest with you I can’t quite picture somebody as wimpy and beta as him firing an AK 47 or RPG and taking on the Spetsnaz.

On the otherhand, a public trial of Osama on US soil might be just what he is looking for. What do you think the odds are that someone might try to take him (Osama bin Laden) out, no matter where he is kept? What if they were to use a large truck bomb, similar to what happened in Oklahoma City? Wouldn’t much matter who did it – who do you think would get the blame? Remember, can’t let a good crisis go to waste – there would be a LOT of political capital that could be made from such an event.
