Norway: Socialist Party to Vote on Motion Calling for Bombing Israel if It Acts Against Hamas in Gaza…

The SV annual convention goes to vote. The deranged junior partner in the current government coalition will among other proposals vote on a motion to use armed force against Israel should it attack Gaza.
The motion is the blood money required to pay off SV card carrying members who find it hard to accept that they have taken the nation to war, again. Last time it did so was back in 1999, when the party backed the NATO bombing of Serbia. As a result, we got ourselves involved in a war crimes probe because of high number of civilian casualties and bombing illegal targets.
Therefore, the only way it can be palatable to bomb Libya for these morally deranged people is if Israel can be bombed too.
Here is the less than lucid reasoning behind the motion:
— The credibility of the world community in its confrontation with the Gadafi regime is undermined when there is no reaction against other states in the region who commit injustices against civil population. The greater world community must therefore also react against Israeli air attacks on the Gaza strip.

I actually was an acquaintance once of an Iraqi air force vet who fought against the Iranians in their 8 year war. He said hands down Israel had the worlds best fighter pilots and that most other middle eastern countries military pilots quake in fear over having to confront them. He actually admitted to me he was glad he wasn’t on duty the night Israel attacked the Osirak reactor.

exceller, you don’t get it. Now the U.S. involvement in Libya makes total sense. The U.S. is allowing the U.N. to call the shots in the way, so that when the U.N. says something stupid, like “Israel is bombing the Palestinians, we need to bomb Israel, the U.S. will get in on the action too…and our usurper-in-thief will be quick to do it, bypassing Congress, as he loves doing.

I am very disturbed by several comments that say that Israel would attack Norway in the case that it would support attacks on Israel (“Israel would kill every Norwegian that tries to take on Israel militarily”).

Israel cannot afford to take it’s national security lightly, it’s a klife and death situation for them every day over there and they will use whatever means necessary to survive, even if they are brutal, which they should be.

John, it is repugnant to think that Israel would strike Norway and pick off anti-Israel Norwegians. Israel doesn’t just lash out like that. First of all, Norway would never strike Israel on its own. Such a strike would be coordinated with other nations under the premise of R2P. Israel would not be capable of taking revenge on every nation in such an attack on its sovereignty. Norway’s Socialist Party is morally bankrupt. I would hope that the Israeli government would protest this bellicose vote to the Norwegian government if it comes to pass.

With the advent of Obama’s R2P policy, the call to attack Israel was just a (short) matter of time. In fact, one could be forgiven for thinking this policy was aimed directly at Israel. Will the US attack? Hardly but barry has set the precedent. Any country can attack any other on the pretext of protecting “civilians”.
The socialist left party needs to fund the norwegian military if they intend to be taken seriously with a resolution like that. The Norwegian military is a shadow, they would need NATO to be able to carry out any action, and Israel is no threat to any NATO member.

I have been waiting for this and I have the same concerns about R2P and Samantha Power, who like her husband, Cass Sunstein, is a marxist. In fact Cass once said “Socialism will never work in the US. It’s too racist. Only Marxism will work.”
I dont think this is any more likely than Isreal bombing them first. I think its hype, just to show allegiance to Hamas, etc. Maybe they think it will get them cheaper oil.
