First Week Cost of Obama’s Libyan Adventure to U.S. Taxpayers: $600 Million…

No big deal, America has plenty of money, Michael Moore told us so.

(CBS News) — One week after an international military coalition intervened in Libya, the cost to U.S. taxpayers has reached at least $600 million, according figures provided by the Pentagon.

U.S. ships and submarines in the Mediterranean have launched at least 191Tomahawk cruise missiles from their arsenals, costing $268.8 million, the Pentagon said.

U.S. warplanes have dropped 455 precision guided bombs, costing tens of thousands of dollars each.

A downed Air Force F-15E fighter jet will cost more than $60 million to replace.

And operation of ships and aircraft, guzzling ever-more-expensive fuel to maintain their positions off the Libyan coast and in the skies above, could reach millions of dollars a week, experts say.

“Each sortie, even if it drops no munitions, is very pricey,” said Winslow Wheeler of the Center for Defense Information. “These airplanes cost us tens of thousands of dollars to operate per hour, and the fancier you get in terms of planes, the costs get truly astounding.”

One thing about Obongo, he believes in doing things big; especially when it’s putting his big nose in business that’s not his own. Part of the plan I suppose; to break the American bank any way he can.

    More like barry’s big mis-adventure!!!!

A “no fly zone” is NOT attacking tanks, ground troops, bunker/residences, etc.!

Actually, I have to say that he appears to be the most comfortable when he’s killing – and unabashedly murdering people, too. I mean, this war porn stuff must really excite him. I think he’s turned on by killing, frankly.

He’s perfectly unrepentant, he has a canned excuse for just about everything, and frankly speaking, if you were in his shoes and you knew that the Republicans were threatening him from the right wouldn’t someone who obviously sees everything through the lens of politics do everything in his power to play the game by taking it to the next level and upping the ante on his opponents?

Man, I tell you what. These commies mean bidness, buddy… Ain’t no friendships among these folks, that much you can count on.

    @Sentinel

I think you’re onto something. He’ll do anything just to keep spending.

    @ Boomerette

Soros is calling the shots here and not Obongo. America is simply not collapsing fast enough to suit him (he’s mightly close to the perpetual sleep) and he’s ordering O-shit-shit to spend freely wherever he can without regard to Congress (if that means anything at all), the War Powers Act and the Constitution. With Islamic fundamentalist revolution breaking out all over the northern regions of Africa, O-shit-shit will be able to use this lame excuse to wade off into more of these conflagrations, waste more money (and American lives) and then turn it over to NATO (USLite).

I can see where we will “save” at least $60 million of what the article says we have spent; that F-15E Strike Eagle will not be replaced; at least not anytime soon.

I have seen articles where the actual cost of what is being done in Lybia is $2 billion dollars a day, I think that is a lot closer to the actual cost.

But we had to start with Libya rather than securing the border south of US. Geez!
