Harry Reid Wants Boehner to Commit Political Suicide: Ditch the Tea Party for the Sake of Our Economy…

Coming from a guy who’s bought and paid for by the SEIU, AFL-CIO and a host of other unions.

(The Hill) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday urged Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to ditch members of the Tea Party and cut a deal with Democrats to avert a government shutdown.

Reid insisted it is those GOP internal divisions that are threatening to shut down the government after April 8, in less than two weeks.

“For the sake of our economy, it’s time for mainstream Republicans to stand up to the Tea Party and rejoin Democrats at the table to negotiate a responsible solution that cuts spending while protecting jobs,” he said.

Last week Reid put $7.5 billion in discretionary cuts and $3.5 billion in mandatory savings on the table as a counteroffer to the $51 billion in additional cuts the GOP is seeking.

This week Democrats are mulling upping the offer to $20 billion. But Democratic aides insist it is the divided GOP that must make the next move and come back to the negotiating table, not Democrats who must continue to negotiate with themselves and up their offer.

“I am extremely disappointed that after weeks of productive negotiations with Speaker Boehner, Tea Party Republicans are scrapping all the progress we have made and threatening to shut down the government if they do not get all of their extreme demands,” Reid said in a statement.

You know Harry, if you Democrats would have passed the budget SIX MONTHS ago, we wouldn’t be here right now.
    Would we?

Understanding why the Communist Left and Islam can never coexist with Conservatives:

    http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/03/the-fallacy-of-co-existence/

    A good read. excerpt:

“So, the answer to the questions: why can’t the leftist and/or the Moslem fanatic coexist with America and Israel? And why can’t these types of people just find a nice leftist and/or Moslem fanatic society to live in for themselves? Has a very simple answer. No. They cannot make this choice because it is impossible for them to coexist with us without eventually being destroyed by our existence. Even a passive democracy, like say France, will surely attract a number of apostates from these two faiths and these apostates will collapse all the hard work the leftist or Islamic tyrant did to make the perfect leftist or Islamic society. This is why we who are free will always be targeted for death, destruction, conversion and submission by those who are our ideological enemies. Just in case you haven’t noticed, this destruction is exactly what Islam and leftism is unleashing on France as you read this.”

I’m sure you would like that Harry. Sorry, but no cigar. Makes you wonder a bit what Harry considers a “responsible solution to cut spending while saving jobs.” Personally, I don’t find the Republican’s bid to cut $100 billion a “responsible solution” in the face of a $1.65 trillion over budget spending spree. It won’t cover even one month of overspending! They need to cut much more, but at least it is a start.

And yet Dingy Harry, calls such a proposal “extreme” and proposes $10 billion in cuts, which I can only assume he considers “responsible.” Is he planning a career in stand-up comedy after retirement? (I admit, his face is pretty funny.) Reid’s proposal, even doubled to $20 billion is a non-starter. As a joke, it doesn’t even qualify for a muffled guffaw.

I have an idea. As far a cuts go, let’s start with Harry’s pay. It isn’t much when looking at $1.65 trillion, but it’s a definite start.

Bargaining fail. The Republicans should have set their ceiling higher. If they wanted to cut $50b, they should have proposed $100b in cuts.

With a $1.6t deficit and Obama proposing spending programs like HSR of $50b every other month, all the hysteria over cutting $50b is ridiculous.

I remember the preacher coming up to their house and yelling at them through the screen door that they are all gonna die. Very creepy and Dingy Reid reminds me of that dude.

The OMB has reported that for FY2011, revenues won’t cover mandatory outlays, much less discretionary spending. If we taxed all income over $1 million at 100%, we would still have to cut about $400+ billion to zero the deficit (and still do nothing to help the debt).
