Georgia: Black Lawmakers File Lawsuit Against State To Disband Five Cities For Being Too White…
No, not making this up.
(AJC) — The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of Georgia seeking to dissolve the city charters of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton and Chattahoochee Hills. Further, the lawmakers, joined by civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery, aim to dash any hopes of a Milton County.
The lawsuit, filed in a North Georgia U.S. District Court Monday, claims that the state circumvented the normal legislative process and set aside its own criteria when creating the “super-majority white” cities within Fulton and DeKalb counties. The result, it argues, is to dilute minority votes in those areas, violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution.
“This suit is based on the idea that African Americans and other minorities can elect the people of their choice,” said Democratic State Sen. Vincent Fort.
The Office of the Governor and the Office of the Attorney General declined comment pending further review of the case.

A few years ago, the mayor wanted to change the name to West Settlement–not because there had been any problems with the name, bit because there MIGHT be in the future. The citizens voted, and the number of votes in favor of change were in the tens. Perhaps single digit, I don’t remember. Pretty sure that guy’s not mayor anymore.
Would they rather the ghetto be gentrified and displace them or just let us find our own place to live. The diversity experiment isn’t working all that well.

If the voting rights act of 1965 says what they imply, then it is unconstitutional. There is no “commitment to diversity” stated or implied in the first amendment. The only obligation government has is to a policy of non-interference.

Imagine my surprise upon visiting you Weasels today…I grew up in Sandy Springs, which is right next to Dunwoody in North Atlanta. No, there weren’t hardly any blacks when I graduated from high school in 1980, but that has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Now there is a sizeable Hispanic population that mostly live off the main drag, Roswell Rd. Sorry black folks, but the Mexicans took al the cheap housing, so why not sue them?
Atlanta isn’t called the Black Mecca fer nuthin’. They own and run the lion’s share within the city limits.
I thank God I now live in Sarasota, which is whiter than any of those places. I live in Dunwoody and I love it here. Wouldn’t live in downtown Atlanta for any amount of money. That ought to be my right. When the city was formed 3 years ago (by voter referendum) the paper was full of people outside the new city crying racism, simply because the formation of the new city meant we would stop subsidizing the life-sucking county government and instead spend our tax dollars closer to home. We now have police protection (which we did not before), nicer parks, and self-determination. The idiots just can’t stand it that we are so productive and happy.

Laura, I know White Settlement! I grew up in a little town in TX a bit further north and east with the word “White” in its name. Bit embarrassing when people think it’s called that because of the racial/ethnic makeup.
Every day I hear the racist reasoning from the usual race baiters. The funny part is that you would intuitively think that one would start to agree with it. Think “Stockholm Syndrome”.
