Obama Mocks Palin’s “Drill, Baby, Drill” Slogan…

Douche.

(The Hill) — President Obama took a dig at the “drill, baby, drill” slogan employed by Republicans and popularized by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin during a speech Wednesday on energy.

The president made an offhand reference to the slogan as an example of the empty rhetoric politicians have used in the past when it comes to energy policy.

“But here’s the thing — we’ve been down this road before. Remember, it was just three years ago that gas prices topped $4 a gallon. Working folks haven’t forgotten that,” Obama said in a speech at Georgetown University, according to prepared remarks. “It hit a lot of people pretty hard. But it was also the height of political season, so you had a lot of slogans and gimmicks and outraged politicians waving three-point-plans for two-dollar gas — when none of it would really do anything to solve the problem.”

Then the president made a departure from his prepared remarks: “You remember, ‘drill baby drill.’”

Of course, had we done so back then, at least some of that oil would be available today to mitigate prices now. But let’s not talk about that.

Instead let’s belittle the idea because drilling now won’t affect prices now. Since that will ALWAYS be true, we never drill, and we are always short; we are always paying foreigners instead, many of whom use those dollars against us; and prices continue to climb.

But that’s good; it makes “alternative” energy more “affordable”. And that’s the real end-game here anyway.

    1) He’s saying in this remark that if you have a shortage of a thing, acquiring more of that thing does not solve your problem. WTF?

If he were to just announce that we would be expanding our domestic drilling, it would trigger a decrease in the price of a barrel of crude. Decreasing our dependence on foreign oil will go along way to stopping doing deals with crazy Islamic nations.. Drilling here where it is socially and politically more stable than the Middle East, particularly when we have vast amounts of untapped reserves should stabilize the market.

U.S. Has Earth’s Largest Energy Resources

‘In case anyone missed it, let me repeat something that is of a magnitude of 10 on the scale of news-quakes for Joe Public USA: America’s combined energy resources are, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service (CSR), the largest on earth. They eclipse Saudi Arabia (3rd), China (4th) and Canada (6th) combined – and that’s without including America’s shale oil deposits and, in the future, the potentially astronomic impact of methane hydrates.

The energy facts in the CRS report should be making front page news all over America. Mostly it isn’t. Given the devastating news from Japan and New Zealand, it may be right to postpone dancing in the streets. But something else is going on. Even though they are going to dominate global energy supply for decades to come the insidious war on vital fossil fuels continues apace.’

It is up to the CITIZENS not to elect someone like this in the first place. It is not the job of the military to clean up the civilians messes. You really don’t want to go down that path – it doesn’t usually end well and sets a dangerous precident.

Key secret Democratic strategery(!) for 2012:

Reduce the number of registered Democratic voters, dissuade vast numbers of Liberals/Democrats/Progressives to stay home and not to vote on election day and voila!!! That all equals a landslide of Democrat votes tallied up. Subtraction yields surplus, right? (Simple Lib Econ 101.)

Well, it will still likey yield increased numbers of votes in Chicago and large swaths of other Democrat-controlled voting districts (including cemetaries).

Still, it might be worth experimenting further — I humbly propose that 75% of all Democrat officials retire from office immediately and see how the voting majorities pan out in the respective legislative chambers, state and federal. Following the (il)logic of their fossil-fuel/energy policies, that would increase their voting majorities, wouldn’t it? Wouldn’t it?

But you’ve not been alone in this; you’ve had every wacko environmental group along with the EPA and the DOE as your partners to thank for this mess we are in. Through your actions; like denying oil drilling permits, denying the building of any new refineries, denying oil exploration, denying or downright obfuscating the building of clean coal and nuclear power plants and listening to a bunch of green nuts, we are now totally dependent on oil from the most unstable region of this planet for our energy. Thanks a lot shitheads.

btw, I think they are shitheads too.

Here’s what I know: The Gulf of Mexico, all by itself, is down 90% from production levels just as ObowMao took office. That production in 2009 was less than a third, 1/3, of capacity.

NOW here’s the punchline: ***** Capacity (I didn’t say reserve, I’m talking straight daily crude production in BARRELS) just capacity of the Gulf of Mexico ( domestic leases only please) IS GREATER THAN ALL IMPORTS ADDED TOGETHER!!!!!

I repeat ‘We aren’t dependent on anybody, anywhere’. NOW what are you gonna do about it?

  61. Sentinel says:
    March 30, 2011 at 9:22 pm

If we’re not dependent on anybody, then why is crude at $100+/barrel and our gas at $4/gal? Huh? The market price of a barrel is set by OPEC, of which we are not a member of. So if we are “not dependent” then why is all that US oil flowing into the pumps priced so high?

January 2011 domestic oil production in the US was 5.5M barrels per day; for the same period of time our oil consumption was 18.4M barrels per day. We are dependent on ME oil because of what I said above – PERIOD!

Yes, I know we have enough oil to burn the rest of the world, but it ain’t coming out of the ground, is it?
