Reuters: Obama Signed Secret Order Authorizing Covert U.S. Aid For Libyan Rebels…
Disaster in the making.
(Reuters) — President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing covert U.S. government support for rebel forces seeking to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, government officials told Reuters on Wednesday.
Obama signed the order, known as a presidential “finding”, within the last two or three weeks, according to government sources familiar with the matter.
Such findings are a principal form of presidential directive used to authorize secret operations by the Central Intelligence Agency. This is a necessary legal step before such action can take place but does not mean that it will.
As is common practice for this and all administrations, I am not going to comment on intelligence matters,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement. “I will reiterate what the president said yesterday — no decision has been made about providing arms to the opposition or to any group in Libya.”
News that Obama had given the authorization surfaced as the President and other U.S. and allied officials spoke openly about the possibility of sending arms supplies to Gaddafi’s opponents, who are fighting better-equipped government forces.
The United States is part of a coalition, with NATO members and some Arab states, which is conducting air strikes on Libyan government forces under a U.N. mandate aimed at protecting civilians opposing Gaddafi.

You guys remember the Iran-Contra hearings?
They need weapons, training, intelligence, and command structure. It sounds like the rebels are ordinary civilians (except for a few Al Qaeda, shhh) and have no comprehension of weapons operation or tactics. If we are relying on them to take out Gaddafi, it’s going to take plenty of boots on the ground (but that’s covert now, shhh) and a lot of time. The WH has already estimated costs at 4M/month long term (more for the next few months) to finance these terrorists in training. This could be the beginning of the end for obumbler. Let’s all pray together.

Interesting that the leader of the rebels is an AQ member. And those poor Benghazi and Dema people represent the second largest place where haji came from that fought us in Iraq.
“US and British government sources said Mr al-Hasidi was a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, or LIFG, which killed dozens of Libyan troops in guerrilla attacks around Derna and Benghazi in 1995 and 1996.
Even though the LIFG is not part of the al-Qaeda organisation, the United States military’s West Point academy has said the two share an “increasingly co-operative relationship”. In 2007, documents captured by allied forces from the town of Sinjar, showed LIFG emmbers made up the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, after Saudi Arabia.”

All we heard during the Iraq war was how we ‘gave’ Saddam the chemical weapons that he eventually used on his own people.
Then, during our time here in Afghanistan, the left reminds us how we supported Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion.
So, do we get to point out how Obama armed our enemy to take down another enemy who happens to be the leader of a country … when this enemy turns the weapons on us when we have to invade Libya in about a half dozen years for whatever obvious reason?
