Ohio Passes Wisconsin-Like Bill Curbing Powers of Public Workers Unions…

Bravo.
Comments & pings are closed.(WSJ) — The Ohio Legislature voted Wednesday to severely limit the collective bargaining rights of 350,000 public workers, sending a bill that sparked weeks of pro-labor protests to Republican Gov. John Kasich, who is expected to sign it by the end of the week.
The full House had passed the measure on a 53-44 vote Wednesday after it cleared committee, and the Senate followed with a 17-16 vote of approval.
Mr. Kasich has said his $55.5 billion, two-year state budget counts on unspecified savings from lifting union protections to fill an $8 billion hole. The first-term governor and his GOP colleagues argue the bill would help city officials and superintendents better control their costs at a time when they too are feeling budget woes.

Sign it governor. A lot of Ohioans have your back.
The Dem-conctrolled AP continues the myth that collective bargaining by government employee unions is a “right.” It isn’t. If it were a right, all local, state, and federal government employees would be allowed to bargain with governments, now wouldn’t they. It is a privilege. It is not now and has never been a right.
I’m always amazed at all the Red shirts.
They make it very clear what they represent.
A step in a good direction.
But…, this was disturbing:
Reason.tv: Gov. Kasich’s Ohio Budget Disaster – Can You Cut Government by Jacking Spending 11%?

excerpt:
“Kasich won a narrow victory in November by promising to create a business climate that would grow the state’s shrinking private sector, which has bled nearly 600,000 jobs since 2000. He inherited a historic $8 billion deficit, a consequence of out-of-control spending that spiked outlays by 41 percent in inflation-adjusted dolars since 1990. (That huge bump, incidentally, happened mostly under Republican legislators.)
To call Kasich’s opening budget a massive disappointment to the small-government proponents and Tea Party types who put him in office is an understatement.”
Woohoo! But wait! How did they accomplish this without all the brouhaha in Wisconsin?
