NYT’s Paul Krugman: Racism Keeping America from Becoming Socialist…
Of course it has nothing to do with Socialism being an epic failure everywhere it’s been implemented.
It’s more than a 100 years people have asked, “Why is there no socialism in America?” That was Venhar Sombart in 1905. But anyway, but one other reason is the, uh, ethnic and racial diversity, which means that all too often when people see, see people suffering they don’t say, “There but for the grace of God go I,” they say, “Oh well that’s just one of them.” . . . Because it was actually true, wages in America were not that much better than they were in Europe, certainly in Britain. Um, and really, we have a great politics department at Princeton, I taught them, really, really the thing was that in the United States then the big issue was immigrants, a lot of the working class was not perceived as American and more recently, and I guess always, it’s race. It’s not that our workers do so well that they’re not socialist, it’s that they, it’s the fact that we have a divided working class.

Wrong pinky. The only thing keeping America from being a socialist nation is the same thing that is keeping you from being declared a traitor and hung by the neck until dead…its the law and the fact that you socialist punks haven’t pushed the envelope far enough…yet…
…and this brain-dead twit got some prestigious award…Pulitzer me thinks.
He’s laughable as can be- always has been if you can stand to listen to the leftist loon.
TWISTED!
Btw…Krug…whatever it takes for America not to become completely socialist (because we are nearing that now) works for me…and it’s called the TEA PARTY MOVEMENT and conservatives everywhere …you foolish self-important elitist.
He and his ilk need to watch again in Nov ’12…maybe, just maybe they will get a clue…but I doubt it.
Racism is a form of Socialism.
It looks at people in classes instead of as individuals. It believes that entire groups of people can be either collectively good, or collectively evil.
Remember ‘Separate, but Equal’?
If socialists really believed that “all men are created equal”, they would have nothing to fix. If ‘material quantity’ was the measure of equality, then no person who has ever lived has ever been equal to any other.
.
Is it just me but doesn’t Krugman look like the dysfunctional bad guy in the poorly….ok down right fucked up version of the Green Hornet…..I just see this @$$clown trying to make an evil name for himself thinking that his is all cool and not realizing that he isn’t even close to mainstream…….
Condescending ass hasn’t a clue what America has always been about. No American Exceptionalism for ferret face.
Legal Justice is the product of the Judiciary. It’s rules are created and altered by the legislature. The rules are static until the legislature acts.
Social Justice is a product of the Legislature……..and it doesn’t require any evidence of wrongdoing in order to convict. It assumes that a crime was committed only by observing the outcome of an act. ‘Judgment’ is against entire classes of people, not just the guilty party. The same judges who reside over the trials, make the rules of social justice. The rules are dynamic, and they apply to every new situation in a different way.
Think of an NFL game with the two team coaches acting as referee. A ‘living rulebook’ could change the rules while the game is still being played.
Under social justice, the punishment can proceed the crime. Adolph Hitler was exercising this authority in the attempted extermination of the Jews, in order to prevent them from committing future crimes. He perceived the group as having victimized the German people for centuries.

This nitwit is the voice of the NY Times, explains what killed the Gray Lady.
Uh,…yea….they tried that.
Read a fkn history book
Another Nobel Prize winning idiot.
What a dipshit!
Oh Yeah! Only the brightest go to Princeton! Pretty soon a degree from Princeton will be right up there with one (purchased) from Columbia or given through affirmative action protocol by the new progressive phucks at Rutgers. (aka Snookie U).
Socialism is the intermediary stage on the road to Communism, according to Karly Marx and the second thing the Bolsheviks did, after wresting power from the Mensheviks after the Russian “Revolution” {the first was to murder the Imperial Family}, was to slaughter 10 MILLION “Mulaks”: those were the Peasant class who owned property. The Communists knew they had to kill off the people who, though at the lower economic level of society, actually had a commitment to that society, their land, their country and to their fellow Russians as Christians.
Marx, in Das Kapital, calls for the extermination of any who oppose Socialism and Communism. Evil. And that’s what they are determined to impose on us and that’s why they’re destroying the economy and the middle class (also a stated goal of Obama’s racist false “church” in its “Denial of the Pursuit of Middleclassness” and its extolling of Black Liberation Theology and its aim to “kill” and “deny” the “god” of the “white race”).
Paul Krugman is depriving a village somewhere of its idiot.
I’m not sure which is more stunning–
That he atually believes the crap he spews, or
He says them out loud as if any sane person would accepts his stupidity as intellect.
The left loves to paint conservatives as anti-science–
Paul Krugman proves the left is anti-common sense.
@howzat:
Right on the eeeevil money.
Another leftist “myth” is that the capitalist system walks over the suffering. America is the number one donor to charities and charitable causes in the world. And that is because we know the government would not, should not, be involved in taking care of the suffering. We understand that is a personal duty of individuals. We are truly a neighbor who says “I am my brothers keeper.”
Hey Paul K – why don’t you and your fellow rich socialists shine by example and give up any private property you may own to the state, and send in extra money to the US Treasury so you are paying your beloved taxes.
America is different – we are not socialists because we believe in our freedoms, to free speech, own private property, bear arms, pursue happiness …you know, the freedoms not inherent in socialism. It has nothing to do with immigration or racism — if we are so racist why are Africans and other people of color still trying to get in the door here?
Paul – go move to your socialist paradise and leave the rest of us alone to pursue our own life course…
Hey Paul the lack of a brain keeps you from having any intelligence.
Oh and Paul if you want to live in a socialist country why don’t you take your sorry liberal/progressive ass and move down to South America with Hugo Chavez or over to Russia with Putin.
What a long rambling, wandering waste of time and space.
Of course, that pretty much applies to the left as a whole…
and distance is keeping me from punching Krugman’s lights out.
I loved him in Mel Brooks’ The Producers’ – Carmen Ghia in 1968!

We’ve been socialist for years. What he means is we haven’t endured the inevitable failure that is socialism. But unless we change it’s coming.
Really, Mr. Krugman? Is that what you really think? I have news for you. If the entire nation were entirely lilly white, I STILL would not be interrested in Socialism. Socialism is a disease; it rots the population from the core. I’m sure it’s a good gig – if you are one of the ones in charge. But for the common person it sucks rocks. You are “guaranteed” a free ride through life at the cost of your individuality, your freedom of thought, your freedom of action, your ability to rise in social and financial standing, the list goes on. You get the same deal as the cattle at the local feed lot.
“Free” health care is wonderful! And it works great – as long as you don’t actually become sick, or pick up some disease or disorder that is expensive to fix. Then you find out that your quality of life and the amount that society has to pony up to fix you isn’t cost effective according to the numbers someone input into some spreadsheet and then, guess what? No treatment for you! But you had a good run – be happy with that, die, and make room for someone else.
The same is true with all the other “free” benefits of a socialist utopia.
Of course, when the money runs out (as it always does, because there is no infinite amount of money to pay for an infinite supply of goodies) it all goes bust and you are left with a society that is unable to fend for itself because it has never learned how. The result is massive anarchy and death. Then a stronger culture comes in, “ethnicly clenses” the old, and starts over.
I have an idea for all those on the left. If socialism is such a great thing, why don’t you take a page from the Libertarians? Pick a state, move there, and set up a socialist utopia? Show us all how it is done! I am sure there is a state somewhere that is liberal enough already for you to make a start with. California springs to mind – or Massachusetts, or perhaps New York.
Move there, become the majority, set up your socialist government, and go to it! Prove to us that this thing really works and maybe you can convince the rest of us to join up, if it is all as great as you say.
Of course, there has to be a few rules. 1) you have to make a go of it on your own. No federal bailouts if you run out of money. After all, the point is to show that your system is superior, not that you have to rely on us to fund you.
2) No fair having money shipped in from out of state by sympathetic parties such as unions or other leftists who didn’t really believe enough in the system to actually take the risk and move there (or who were more interested in the “capitalist” profits they were making and are “all hat and no cattle”) 3) no “capitalist enclaves” to support your system and make it look like it is successful when it really isn’t. An example of this is the collective farms in the former Soviet Union. They didn’t work out so well, so the government decided to allow each person to have a small plot of their own where whatever they grew was theirs. As I recall, it was about an acre or less. The result was that a very large percentage of the total crop ended up being grown on the private plots, which were much more successful than the much larger collective farms.
Go ahead, give it a whurl. Jump in with both feet if it is so great. Why can’t you do this by yourselves? Why is it that you always insist on dragging the rest of us along with you?
But socialism worked so well in Russia where everyone (save in the Asian republics) was white.
All you parents out there with kids in college should think about what morons like this are teaching your kids, and charging you between $24K and $50K PER YEAR to make your kids think that socialism is something we should be trying for.
Now who is stupid?
Assume he is correct for just a moment — that means that racism is the fuel that makes the engine of American freedom and prosperity run.
