RINO Gone Mad: Huckabee urges GOP to cave

He makes the same kind of mush-headed argument here that compelled him to release the cop killer, thinking it’s better to placate terrorists than resist them. What a putz.

(POLITICO) — Mike Huckabee urged his fellow Republicans to throw in the towel on the budget stalemate, saying the GOP has the “most to lose” and needs to show it understands the personal impact a government shutdown would have on everyday Americans.

“Republicans have got to show that the people of America matter more to them than the politics of their own houses, and that’s what I’m hoping will happen,” Huckabee told Fox News host Neil Cavuto Friday afternoon, just hours before a shutdown was set to take place without a budget deal.

Arguing that no one suffers more than “the overall American people, particularly [military members],” Huckabee said, “I think the Republicans potentially have the most to lose because the amount of money that we’re talking about is so minor, we’re talking about pennies. Pennies out of thousands, and it’s going to be very difficult to explain that. . . . The Republicans have an opportunity to declare victory here.”

They could point to the fact that the framed both the budget itself and “framed the debate differently for Washington,” Huckabee added. “If they can avoid the shutdown, it makes it easier for them to live to fight another day. The big battle is over the real long term, that which Paul Ryan has put on the table. Don’t use all your water for too small a fire. This is too small a fire to use up all your water over a couple of billion dollars when the real issue is trillions.”

That view is anathema to many in the tea party movement, who believe that if Republicans agree to a budget they are relinquishing a chance to make deeper cuts, a fact that Cavuto pointed out to Huckabee.

The former Arkansas governor replied, quoting The Rolling Stones, “you can’t always get what you want. The reality of governing is, you get what you can and then you fight for what you want the next day. But if you battle everything on one moment and forget that [governing] is a process and it’s not a single event then you end up with a philosophy [of] ‘I want it all or I want nothing, I want it now or I want it never.’ You end up getting nothing, and you get it forever.”

He said his personal view is that “I’d love to see Planned Parenthood just disappear. I’d love to see NPR defunded.”

But he said that if it requires explaining to the wives of soldiers trying to make ends meet that they won’t get their paychecks, then “no, I’m sorry, it’s not worth that.”

Until the GOP realizes we do not want Huck or Romney or Palin as the candidate for 2012…we are screwed. I hope everyone is contacting them saying stop pushing these 3, they will not be winning candidates! There was a story on Fox (my husband told me) last night saying somewhere near 70% of independents and over 50% of Republicans do NOT support the 2012 candidates…Open your eyes! The GOP is stuck on Romney, Palin and Huck. Do they want use to lose in 2012?

He’s hoping to appeal to independents, I have news for him, it’s RINO’s like him that caused me to register Independent in the first place. I didn’t want to be associated with people like him.

Speak for yourself. I WANT PALIN. She had an approval rating that hovered in the high 80′s to 90th percentile as gov of Alaska when McCain selected her and before Ebola and his leftist goons started their vicious smear campaign after seeing her popularity with the massive crowds she STILL continues to draw.

She’s won back-to-back straw polls on Townhall, Hot Air, Ace of Spades and others.

I don’t know what you watch, the but the DC Establishment GOP wants nothing to do with her ’cause she doesn’t play the game of self-enrichment and going along to get along. She sends people to jail — which is where most of the political class of Washington belongs.

Huck just kissed the evangelicals goodbye while kicking them in the teeth, the butt and the scrotum. It would be better to portray Huck as a body with a head of a crater – he caves in so much.

Planned Parenthood is nothing but an abortion promoter in just about all ways conceivable, uhm, imaginable.

This should be the last for Huck. If one cannot stand up and say “The Democrats have decided – do not feed the troops so we can keep killing babies.” then he just stay home.

NPR, Planned Parenthood — low hanging fruit.

If they don’t “defund” NPR and PP then the GOP is should be renamed Grovelling Old Spelunkers and their slogan for 2012 “We cave were no one with a brain would.”

  27. banshee says:

Kathleen, the GOP is *not* promoting Palin as far as I can see. Romney is just another establishment GOP policy, and now Huckabee has shown that he is not a leader. The Republican Party needs to get its stuff together to beat Obama in 2012. They can’t keep their heads in the sand.

  28. Fishy Commentator says:

Sarah Palin. I want her in charge. I want Paul Ryan using his talents to get the fiscal house back in order. I want DeMint leading the Senate. I want Allen West challenging islam and the CBC. I want Herman Cain in there somewhere, too. Then after two terms of Sarah, I want Ryan and West or West and Ryan in the Oval Office.

Now the Constitution needs real patriots more than ever! $ 500 BILLION IS THE MINIMUM CUT THE REPUBS SHOULD HAVE STARTED WITH.

  38. BetterDeadthanRed says:

The governement needs at least a 50% cut across the board. That means bring home our troops from the endless meatgringers with fucked uo ROE’s in Afghanistan and Iraq. All non esential departments like HHS, Dept. ED, EPA, ect need elimination. The federal reserve duties need to go back to the Treasury dept. Once our debt is payed off , the 16th amendment needs to be repealed.

besides she ia a good woman…
Kathleen what is this about the women that they dislike Ms. Palin so
much that they can’t get beyond the fact that she is a strong candidate
for the job as our President, this is the time that everyone should be at
the ralling point for a person we can get behind and bring that person
to the top of the best, and please tell us what it is that says or brings to
the table that you so dislike about Ms Palin……

My time and money is on Governor Palin and Allen West to cleanup the
mess this kenyan disaster and the warthog he calls his administration has
    moved America into…..

If you set everything behind, what has this man we have now as the leader
of our country done that anybody we elect couldn’t do better…
    Palin / West in 2012
