Yep, my two youngsters (5 & 3) got the same treatment recently at LAX. We then had reason to pass through Heathrow in London a couple of times and couldn’t help but notice the irony in that just about every airline security member seemed to be of Pakistan (or thereabouts) heritage. There were turbans and beards everywhere – patting down kids and seniors.
I wonder who watches the watchers?
Seriously, my ex-sis in law who is a raging klepto got a job with them and was then subsequently fired for stealing items out of folks luggage.
Her brother in law also got a job with them and was a raging pot head and a drug dealer and the only reason he lost his job is because he had to serve prison time.
This is one of the many reasons I don’t fly today.
And so we no longer should tell our kids about strangers ‘touching’ them.
I’ve said it before, if it were my kid being put through this shit I would be standing on the side there announcing to the child,

We traveled to FL last year. My spouse is a commercial airline Captain. We had made arrangements ahead of time that if the TSA wanted to search one of our children or ourselves, we would politely ask to be taken out of the line and to be escorted to the counter to get a refund. I don’t view any trip as this important.
I don’t know where we are living anymore. The TSA in my opinion should be spat on.

TSA seems to be much more interested in the making of a bureaucratic point — we will do this because we can, and you can’t stop us — than in actually providing safety.

Put the TSA at the front door to protect the airport, period. Let each airline be responsible for it’s own security. You’ll be scanned or searched as you check in at the gate. Shy? Go with the less intrusive airline that Achmed recommended. Paranoid? It’s the full pat down and extreme cavity search for you and your traveling companions.
That’s half tongue in cheek, but the point is that airlines have an interest in protecting their passengers, public image, and equipment. Plus, folks will have some sort of choice, rather than just being sheeple like they are today. Additionally, Crazy Achmed will have to pass at least two completely unrelated security barriers to board a plane.
P.S. Just wait until the TSA Union starts filing lawsuits for cancer/radiation exposure. Pat downs will be mandatory.

Flew with the daughter and grandbaby to my dad’s funeral. Due to knee replacements, I always get the full pat down. If you thought it was bad when they first started, that was nothing compared to how they go up the inside pant leg until they meet resistance. Just what the hell do they think is there? Then the hands in the waist bands of the pants front and back, hands on the breasts and under….patting down the hair…in the mean time, you’re computer, backpack and tickets are left on the belt in some airports for anyone to pick up. While I was being patted down, there was no one to help my daughter with folding up the stroller and holding the baby while she went through. He was asleep and had to be taken out of the stroller, stroller folded up, etc. Just how is someone supposed to do that by themself without setting the baby on the filthy floor which we’re all walking on barefoot or in socks picking up everyone’s crap. Not flying again til this shit stops! Hell yes I’m mad and I’m not going to take it anymore!
I hope that the next president that we get in 2012 fires Napolitano loudly. And makes sure that she don’t get unemployment because she purposefully did a poor job. I’m with one of the commenters above — announce a certain day of the week to boycott all flights in protest of this humiliation. If you don’t like the treatment, quit flying on Mondays, for example, if at all possible. When airlines start losing most of an entire days’ fares, they’ll start complaining to Barky and his crew.
If one day’s lost revenues don’t do it, add another day. Squeeze ‘em till it hurts. The longer this grope-a-thon stays in place, the more it will be accepted.
