ObamaNomics: Only 45% of Americans Have Jobs, Lowest Rate Since 1983…

Disaster.
Comments & pings are closed.(USA Today) — The share of the population that is working fell to its lowest level last year since women started entering the workforce in large numbers three decades ago, a USA TODAY analysis finds.
Only 45.4% of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983 and down from a peak of 49.3% in 2000. Last year, just 66.8% of men had jobs, the lowest on record.
The bad economy, an aging population and a plateau in women working are contributing to changes that pose serious challenges for financing the nation’s social programs.

Wow !!!!
That is really scary . ( and its only going to get worse with this guy in office.)
How’s this translate to Unemployment Rate?
What is the number of that percentage that are employed by Government? Meaning out of that percentage, what number are actual jobs that create and promote commerce in creation of tax dollars and what number out of that percentage are actual “positions called jobs” that are totally dependent upon tax revenue to support them?
Now that is scary!
Obama keeps saying we need to “invest” in his policies. Would you take investment advice from this guy? I hear he lost a lot of “investor’s” money the last couple years. I also heard the number two guy in his investment firm routinely sleeps through meetings! I think it might be better to invest in Paul Ryan’s ideas.
But gun manufacturers love him.
@Grizz
Yup. Stock up.

There was an article somewhere recently—perhaps at PJM—which discussed the fact that only a handful of states (fewer than five, IIRC) have more people working in the private sector than in the public sector.
This means that while only 45% of the workforce has jobs, a mere half of that workforce—less than a quarter of the whole—is carrying the rest of the country.
Yesterday’s speech is being shot down from all sides. If this keeps up he’ll lose in 2012 and poor old Joe will have to seek employment as an air traffic controller.
Disaster or working as intended?
The title of this article says lowest rate since 1983. You know what 1983 was? The four years it took Reagan to pull us out of the hell Carter and the Democrats had put us into. These Liberals are far worse. We’re really screwed.
@razorX.
I was thinking the same thing

And then only half of the country pays income taxes.
Everything is going according to plan.
Half the population on the dole (and antidepressant drugs) waiting for more and more, all the while resenting the handful that employ or work.
We in the private sector get to carry the burden for the country and can only look forward to paying more taxes and being demonized while we do.
Great fucking job Barry.
